Marked my calendar! I'm so ready for this omg <3

It feels so weird having legit(?) dates already! I'm so used to everyone beating around the bush with placeholders and stealth edits (looking at you KH2v6) for ages.

You know, I've never bought an artbook from Yen Press before so I don't know how they print them. I'd assume they go by popularity. I'd pre-order closer to release just to be sure you get one xD

Yes, that is correct. The initial report we got from ANN was incorrect with its dates, but was corrected after the panel transcript came out.

Barnes & Noble listings added for all volumes (bar Days 2 & 3). They are a lot cheaper, and shipping is free when you purchase a total of $25 and above.

Also Days volume 2 will be out in January 2014, and volume 3 in March 2014.

I love everything about what Yen Press is doing for the KH manga series, except how they're going about releasing KH2.

It makes literally no sense to release two omnibuses containing the first five volumes to then release the sixth volume individually. My OCD is going to set in.

As others have said, I agree. The novels have a lot of special/extra content that you sometimes don't get through the games. I've been wanting to read them, and unfortunately, I just can't teach myself Japanese fast enough. -.-

Let Yen Press know! They have a Twitter account and I suggest you let them know that you're interested in the novels. If enough of us do that, and the manga sells well, then they just might translate them.

I don't know if it is being released in Europe but if not, you can easily just import it from NA and easily understand it :)

As for the mangas that you already have, there isn't any new content in KHFM or CoM compared to the original Tokyopop ones BUT Yen Press is re-translating all the manga to fix up a few problems that didn't make as much sense with the Tokyopop version as well as keeping the manga in their original state which includes some jokes that aren't E for Everyone (the Yen Press versions are rated Teen while the Tokyopop ones were for all ages).

If money is tight, I think you could probably avoid getting KH1 or CoM but for collection/enjoyment sake, it will definitely be a fun read to pick up the Yen Press versions ;)

I wonder why a lot of folks assume Coded will be skipped? Seriously, though, they didn't skip making the novel or the game itself, why would we assume Amano'll skip this chapter of the Xehanort saga? He was very meticulous with Days, yet also showed us how digestible he could make the series with the compact KH1 and CoM manga. Really, he could go either way. I don't see it spanning more than a volume, but I don't see him blowing it off.

It's because Coded, while a game in the series, didn't contribute too much to the overall story. The fact that the real Sora is connected to the people that reside in him can be explained in a short segment in a different manga. Days is very important to the series since without it, you won't know how Xion is. That's why people are saying Coded "can" be skipped. Should it be skipped? I'd prefer it not to be skipped, but it can be if deemed necessary.

He wouldn't skip over all of Coded and ignore its existence, he'd include the main stuff you have to learn from Coded in a different manga.

Rydgea

May 27, 2013 @ 11:46 pmOffline

comment graphic

Oh, I understand what you're saying, and I can imagine what including it in some other title's manga might play out like nicely enough, but I still don't see why there's an assumption it will be skipped, regardless of relevance, other than that fans want him to continue on with other things, like BBS or DDD, out of preference. I'm sure if they could make a book of Coded, it would easily translate into one volume of manga at least.

I know it hasn't been confirmed what form Coded will be presented as in 2.5, but we can safely assume they aren't going to skip it whether a movie or a game, and the same can be applied to the manga. Considering it was mentioned alongside the other titles in the Mementos menu, there's an Ultimania for it, I guess I just don't see a pattern where this particular plot line has slipped through the cracks. If there's an opening for Coded-centric stuff, I think it's mostly been realized, indifferent to the plot thickness.

I don't want it to be skipped. Those ending scenes in the game are some of my favorites in the series and I would like to see them in manga form.

I agree. I don't assume it'll be skipped nor do I want it to be skipped, but if one game had to be skipped, Coded would be the victor.

Did anyone pick up a copy? I'm planning on heading over to my Barnes and Nobles later tonight or early tomorrow. For those who get it before me (which is a ton of people) POST PHOTOS!!! I know we've seen the cover before but I want to see it anyways.

Well I preordered from Amazon so it will probably be Thursday or Friday before I get mine. :(

Mine aren't coming until the 31st ;c

I am so excited, though! I made room on my bookshelf just for them.

I picked mine up at Barnes and Nobles today, only 3 copies of each left. The lady who was nice enough to put them on hold for me said that they were being sold as sets and they were selling pretty well between today and yesterday. Mostly popular by the little kids (idc who buys the books, as long as there is support).

They look just as expected haha Bigger than an average manga (obviously) and have a really nice binding. It isn't like the Tokyopress ones where it is just a plain purple binding with the title in Times New Roman. It actually has the real KH logo on its side and it has Sora on the side of Vol. 1 and Donald and Goofy on the side of Vol. 2.

What I like the most though is that as soon as you open up Vol. 1 there is a colored page with the Agrabah cover so that people don't miss out on seeing that image. Sadly, Volume 2 doesn't have the Atlantica one so IDK why they didn't do the same :( Oh well.

P.S. So at the end of the KH Vol. 2 there is segment with Riku fighting Roxas in TWTNW but I can't find that little piece in the Tokyopop mangas. Was this added to the Final Mix books? It's really short but it's new so I like it ^_^

Hey guys...

Did anyone else pre-order from RightStuf? I did a few weeks ago, and since it was supposed to release May 28th, I checked my email to see if I got a tracking number yet, but they didn't send me one. So I went to their website and checked the order status, and it still said "On order from manufacturer", like it did before May 28th. Then I went to the actual page where you order them, and then it says at the bottom, "Date Available: June 19th". WHAT?!?! I didn't even think to look at that before, since I assumed that they would release on the same day as Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and for the fact that KHInsider posted on this page that the release date is May 28th and put a link to that site. I've been REALLY excited to get these, and now I'm really upset that I'll apparently have to wait over 3 additional weeks. The only reason I ordered from RightStuf was to save a couple bucks on shipping; if I knew they released almost a month later, no way would I have done it! I can't BELIEVE they wouldn't all release at the same time, or at least very close! And I especially wanted to get them before school got out, so I could show them off, LOL. I would have been better off to just go to the book store and buy them.

And it's weird, because I checked COM, the KH2 ones, and the artbook, and they all release on the right date. It's just the KH1FM that doesn't...

Wait-- Maybe I could call and ask if (my local) Barnes & Noble has them in-stock (or will be getting them in stock soon), and then just cancel my order and go to the store and buy them... I'll see if I can

It sounds like they had no copies in their warehouse, so they have to obtain copies and then distribute them to those who had them on pre-order. RightStuf is generally shitty with shipping but people tend to look past that due to their prices and selection.

From how I know RightStuf works (I haven't ordered from them in years, though), they wait until all of your items are in stock before shipping them to you.

Ah that would make sense if the part was added for FM, at least there was ONE reason to pick it up in Japan for people who already had the KH1 mangas (and another reason for people in the US to pick up these versions!!!).

Also, I found it out too and I hope they don't leave out covers in future manga, especially not Days or KH2.

Days will be individual volumes unlike these omnibuses, so they won't be leaving any covers out. And I assume KH2 will use color pages for the covers not used for the first two omnibuses and Volume 3 (which will most likely be the recently released volume 6 in Japan) and on will retain their covers.

Yeah, Yen Press generally includes all unused covers as colour pages in omnibus releases. As for the "missing" cover from the first series, remember that this English release is based on the 3-volume Final Mix, not the 4-volume original release, so that other cover was never a part of the package. (Maybe it'll be in the artbook, though?)

Sorry, I meant covers and the colored pages in the manga since didn't the Days manga have colored pages (only like 1 or 2) inside of them that weren't covers?

This definitely makes sense, I understand them not having Atlantica then. Thanks for making that clear :)

Yen Press has promised that any and all color pages will be kept the same in their print of the series.

YAY! Thanks for letting me know, I never read that part, I do remember them saying the mangas would be the same in response to someone's question on Twitter, but I didn't know they specifically mentioned the color pages :)

Yup that's true. I asked Yen Press earlier before and here's the tweet again.

Oh yeah! Thanks Zephyr! I remember you asking them if they would keep everything the same but it was probably just a distortion in my memory ^_^
