Shiro Amano confirms Kingdom Hearts manga series is finished

It's the true end of an era, folks. Despite the fact that the Kingdom Hearts II manga series ended a few months ago, many fans held onto strong hopes that there would be a new series based on one of the other games in the series like Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep or Kingdom Hearts 3D [Dream Drop Distance]. Kingdom Hearts manga artist Shiro Amano has laid those hopes to rest, though, stating this on his personal Twitter:
It is sad but since the Kingdom Hearts manga has finished, there will probably no longer be any related tweets in the future. Feel free to remove me and so forth and thank you. ヾ(*´∀`*)
This is not the first time Amano has mentioned that the series was ending on his Twitter, but many believed it was directly related to Kingdom Hearts II and not the series as a whole.
The manga adaption of Kingdom Hearts by Shiro Amano, published by GanGan Comics, began in 2003 and covered the events of Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, and Kingdom Hearts II and saw the end of its run with Kingdom Hearts II Volume 10 on August 22nd, 2015. The Kingdom Hearts manga series is currently being published in English by Yen Press.

It's such a shame that we won't see what he would have done with the other games. The manga had a way to make the characters come to life and carry the story in a more interesting way, so I could only imagine how TAV could benefit from such a storytelling method.
Ugh. My goodness. I am genuinely heartbroken...
His storytelling was magical, and his art was charming. This makes me absolutely demand the novels. I hope Yen On will continue to deliver so I can obtain more leaflets of Shiro Amano art.

Sad to see Amanos journey with the KH manga has come to an end. :( Would have loved to see him do BBS next. I wonder what he will do in the future?

Sad he's ended the manga. I really wanted Birth By Sleep, too. He always brought life to the characters and clearly cared about them. TAV would have really benefited from it. Such as acting like actual friends.

Well this is indeed a sad day. The manga was pretty fu, I had wished that it could have kept going. Sadly nothing lasts forever.
Shame, TAV was in deep need of some good writing.
Is there no possibility Amano might be approached again after KH3? A shame. I would've loved to have DDD in manga form. Is there any info. about why they wouldn't want to do BbS-KH3--poor sales, Amano wanted to move on, or something else?

Pretty certain Amano probably wanted to move on...and probably the fact that it's been ages since BBS and KH3D.
I think it is possible they will ask him back for KH3 since I just can't imagine SE and Disney not capitalizing on KH3's guaranteed success.

I guess the main reason for him not doing BBS was because it would obligate him to do 3DS and KH3. Because if he abruptly stopped there I think fans would be in an uproar as opposed to sad which we are now.
I do hope Omnibus 4 comes out soon though.

Considering what he did with Days and KHII, I have complete faith that in the unlikely event that Amano would take on BBS, he'd be able to somehow make it completely cohesive.

Yeah guys, he's right. He tries really hard to be a despicable guy: give him a bit of credit.
I think finding a clever way to glue BbS into a cohesive whole story is what we really wanted to see though. 3 versions wouldn't have been as satisfactory as seeing a clever way to tie them all together. That's kind've the big thing I was lookng forward to but now I guess not.
I'm going to go blissfully into the land of denial now, and pretend that the reason he's not continuing the manga series is because he's secretly working on a KH anime.
(I mean, come on: if we ever got a KH anime, I think it would have to be through Amano, that way we could get more humor, better characterization, and have Days not just be about three people sitting on a clock tower all the time.)
I'm going to cry on the inside, though. And the moment this truly hits me, I'm going to die inside.
Wah! The KH manga was the BEST form of KH's story (the novels being a close second). Why'd this have to happen?! Why?!
But in all seriousness, I can't thank Amano enough for what he's done for us fans, and I'll keep my eyes peeled for what he does in the future. He deserves a break from KH, I think, and I do hope he finds something new, fun, and exciting to work on now:D

Sometimes the art style could've looked a bit better (I'll agree that that aspect could be terribad from time to time) but I'm gonna miss the quirkiness that Amano could infuse. Say what you will, but I know that the manga just made me love the characters of KH even more.

(But they got the novel bit wrong. Kanemaki is the writer and Amano merely serves as the illustrator, and there are more than two novels lol...20ish...being combined into omnibuses for the English release)

im not exactly sure where the perfect place is to ask this question but this honestly seems like the best place for it. I honestly didn't know of ANY of shiro amano's works and now that I know of it I decided to look into getting all of them
However, when I look at the list from the link below it tells me KHII has 10 volumes

which i guess due to localization they were combined into less books then the original but when I go to this link below I see that KHII vol3 only goes up to vol 7.

Talk about a major bummer. :( I would have love to see him tackle BBS.
What a shame! Amano really gave the characters and stories a number of small quirks and nuances that worked so nicely. And his art was great - not the "best", obviously, but it was cute and emotive and still managed to work in the more dramatic moments.
Maybe they'll approach him for KH3 or something, but the fact that he won't do the TAV trio is saddening.

We are waiting for the next volume that will likely go up to 10.
It's too bad. I really enjoyed his version of Kingdom Hearts. It would've definitely been interesting to see how he would have handled TAV.

one more thing, I can't seem to get the artbook, it's sold out everywhere, and on amazon they are 60+ for used and I don't trust when it says "used" so, i'm checking Ebay and they all show up as "language: Japanese" so i have yet another question, does the language matter for it? at some point in the book does Shiro start talking bout the creative process or anything of the sort that would really matter? if not ill just get the Japanese copy and not worry bout not having it XD.

Thanks for the quick reply ^_^, since language doesn't matter then ill most likely just purchase it off of Ebay, I might send Yen press a message though since I'll have to wait a week anyways for my paycheck before buying the art book hahah thanks for the idea.
