American... isn't an ethnicity. This feels like the whole ATLA movie all over again. Don't pay attention to ethnicity, unless it is an actual story element. That way, there's no chance of making it absolutely and obviously one sided and wrong.

Most characters from anime seem to be a cross between Caucasian and Asian, most of the time. But again, it's a fantasy, fictional world. Race is not heard of, or wouldn't matter in the slightest.

I would not really be able to say whether Sora is one ethnicity or another. It is a fictional world, so he could be of a fictional race.

American is strictly a nationality, not a race nor ethnic group. Japanese, although a nationally, isn't as broad as American in comparison. Going by appearances, Sora resembles a white kid. Barret, from Final Fantasy 7, is a black guy, not american or whatever, that would be silly.

Stylistically, Sora, and his friends, resemble an Asian/Caucasian blend.

In fact, this seems to be true for all SE characters. At least ever since they started with their CGI whoring.

In-game, he's Destiny Islandian. As someone stated.
