Yes, yes she should of been, but the way they brought her back was pretty stupid and it could of been done much better than that. However, I feel that Ursula's return was much more retarded. They don't even slightly explain how she is back or why Ariel doesn't remember that she's evil/ what she did in KH1. I still say that Atlantica didn't belong in KH2. Anyhow, Maleficent was indeed screwed up in KH2 and was too soft. However, I'm sure that can be fixed in KH3. They just need to find a way to make Pete.. umm.. disappear. He's not funny enough for comic relief and at times, he's more useless than (KH2) Kairi imo.

What was her role in KH2?
IMO, her role was just a way to tell that you will do anything for something she wants. She saved Sora because she wanted to commandeer the Heartless and take over the worlds without any obstacles, in this case, the organization.

I agree, but I wish that she could of at least hurt one of the organization members just to prove a point. I mean Saix turned the heartless and nobodies against her. I think Square-enix could have been much more creative with her. Like maybe turn into a dragon when she was being pummeled by Saix and the nobodies.

KH2 was all about Nobodies, something Maleficent had no control over. Heartless was all KH1.

And so therefore that justifies her character and Pete becoming the "Team Rocket" of KH2? =/ Even so they could have made her character much better, and could have even shown her raging a true war against the Nobodies, not being tackled by mere Dusks, a boss battle like with all the other villains, and not save Sora in TWTNW.
Maleficent had no one competent to rely on but Pete ..and Pete is a natural dumbass and you can't take him seriously. I cannot take Maleficent seriously with Pete around ..she was much more menacing in the first game.
I do say that Maleficent is a powerful figure, but her role in KH2 was minimized to nothing to make room for Nobodies.

Oh yes she was, she's like Eggman in Unleashed, do something that would hurt Sora and his friends. And something a friend of mine told me: Because of everyone complaining about the controls in Atlantica in KH1, they had to change Atlantica so maybe people would not compalin about the controls and like the songs. But it didn't work, and because of the story change, they forgot about Ariel and Ursula's encounter in KH1 (Maybe something to do with COM)
Back to Maleficent, if you take her out of KH2 and put her somewhere else like KH3, she would be important.
