The short one with blue hair extended a hand, and she took it cautiously after a moment. She was a little worried that she might... Snap it in half or something, since it looked so small, but soon found that it was just as strong as hers. Stronger, even. She wasn't really sure what to do after that. Shake his hand? Let go?
So she sat down a little awkwardly, holding the tiny hand and trying to get out what she wanted to say and tell him just what was wrong:
"There's that chick over there? The girl that's on fire? I dunno how she's doing that but it's really freaking me--I mean, it worries me greatly even though it's entirely irrational; although maybe it's not, given the whole burning thing, but... But..."
She let go of the hand this time and hugged her bag to her chest. She felt something hard and flat within it, but didn't want to look at what it was at the moment. She was too busy glancing at the fire. Had she gotten closer? No... But there were more of them there, she could swear there were more. Why were they all sticking so close to the flames?
"I'm... I'm..." she finally spit it out but had to look down at her feet to manage it, "the fire is really, really, really scaring me."
She was so embarrassed. She didn't remember ever being really scared of anything before. Now she was just being paranoid. Obsessively paranoid, even. Thankfully, the tall one had supplied a bit of a distraction, as when she looked at him, he was morphing before her very eyes from a... Whatever, to a human.
"Forgive me ma'am. I am... New to being in this environment. May I help you up?"
"That's... Alright, I wasn't really scared by it or anything but..." she pulled herself up with the help of his outstretched arm, and then she pulled his hand a bit closer to her face, looking over it in amazement, "That was incredible! How did you do that?" she flipped his hand over, "Are you a lycanthrope...? No, that's silly, there's no--eekitmoved!!"
She dropped the tall one's hand and hid herself somewhat behind him. The girl on fire had moved a bit. She knew she was overreacting, but she couldn't help it. She continued watching that fire, terrified, until another girl came over to them. Alexa couldn't quite tell because of her divided attention, but she could have sworn that the girl had two different colored eyes.
"Haruka? Oh, well... I'm Alexa." she moved away from the tall one a bit, mostly because she should probably give him a bit more space. She brushed a couple strands of still-wet-from-sea-water hair out of her face and behind her ear.
"'Where this is?' You mean, you don't know either?" she suddenly felt a little relieved. This made sense. The tall one said he wasn't used to the environment, and Haruka didn't know where this was... At least she wasn't the only one.
The short one sat down near her after deciding to stay.
"Oh, t-thank you!"
She sat herself down next to him, just watching and waiting.
She became terribly confused when another woman seemingly ran into her and started hugging her. How were these people not getting burned?
They must not all be human. The tall one isn't... I don't think...
