Following the others, Nox entered the room shortly after Haruka. Upon witnessing the magnificent sight, Nox's dreary eyes widened with a spark of disbelief. "Holy crap in a bucket!" Stepping inside and craning her head every which way, Nox tried to count all the shelves, but she soon found out that trying to do that was impossible.
Sneakers skidding across the ground and her dress twirling around her as she ran, she picked up the closest book, a deep mohogany colored volume. Reading the title, Nox murmured, "10,000 Beasts for 10,000 Belles." Shrugging, she pushed the heavy book back on the shelf.
"This puts out bookstore to shame," She whistled, peeking around the corners.
She was about to look for her homeworld, that is until she heard Galbatorix's shaken call. Amber eyes bulging, she darted over, careful not to bump into any of the shelves. Heart thumping wildly, she gazed at the pages, and shortly heard Jon murmur in curiosity, finding some shard of his death as well.
A deep sense of dread coiled at the pit of her stomach, twining around her spine until her brain registered the prospect. Furrowing her brows, she scampered to the 'A' shelf, quickly browsing for Alcheraa. She found it after a book titled, Tales and Times of Alcatraz. She pulled the volume out, skimming through the contents until she found the words, "Flaming Denizen Shakes Alcheraa"
That sinking sensation returned, but curiosity got the better of her. She opened to page 987, and found a visage of a burning city. Her pale hand clasped against her mouth to supress a gasp.
"An uproar began after Dr. Lebora euthenized a young girl, justifying that there was no way to save her, preaching that he was putting the poor fourteen year old out of her misery. Shortly after the girl was injected with the poison, the town fell into a state of despair.
Dr. Lebora was thrown from a window, severe third degree burns all over his body in the shape of handprints. The nurses fleed from the hospital, a few suffering burns on their hands and necks, but nearly all survived. Witnesses report that they saw a giant flaming figure rise out of the earth, two butterfly wings sprouting from it's back.
The city was bathed in fire that evening, fortunately only few were harmed the the blaze, but the blazing 'fairy' as they describe it sank back into the earth, and in the crater where the punisher fell, they found the girl that the deceased doctor euthenized, dead but hands glowing with embers.
People believe that the denizen of fire was a advent, sent to punish the doctor for his unethical acts. They revere the the harbringer, calling it's assault a reminder to respect life. After the fire, the city began to rebuild, greater than before, giving belief that the denizen attacked to prove that life can strive longer then the last, if given a chance.
Cinder's Crater remains untouched."
Dropping to her knees, Nox couldn't take her eyes off the picture, a flaming mass with a small shape inside it at the heart. "It's me..." She held the book under her arm, wondering if Aara would believe this.
However, something else was tugging at her mind as she looked for her witch companion.
