I hope it's okay if I join?
Name: Kana Yamato
Nickname: N/A
Age: 22
Gender: Female
Affiliation: Human
Appearance: Kana has only ever considered herself to be average in appearance. She stands around 5’5” with a slender build, not too skinny but not overweight. Her wavy brown hair falls down her back in loose curls, but she often braids and rolls it on top of her head so that it does not impede her movement in battle. Tan-skinned, her green eyes are the only thing about her that really stands out, as well as one of the only things she has left from her family.
Attire: Modest is the best word to describe Kana’s normal attire. Given her usual state of panic, she tries to dress in comfortable, functional clothing. Black T-shirt, loose-fitting jeans, orange jacket, and black sneakers—she has at least five of everything, so her appearance never changes much.
Armor: Following her parents’ deaths, she tried to use her father’s armor. She never understood what he used it for because if an Aversai was really that determined, the relatively shoddy armor her father had worn would be of little consequence. In the end it was a moot point: the armor was far too big for her anyway, yet she keeps it among the rest of her belongings as a treasured keepsake.
Character: In spite of her average exterior, Kana has a rather interesting personality. She was an only child and a shy girl growing up, so she has a tendency to talk—particularly argue—with herself when faced with a difficult situation. In most cases, she doesn’t even realize she is doing it until she sees the people around her with expressions indicating that they are clearly worried about her sanity. Much of the time, however, she tends to be mild-mannered and quiet until something makes her angry. Her fiery temper has a tendency to explode, sometimes literally.
One of her biggest weaknesses, despite her lonely past, is being by herself. Kana hates the feeling of walking down the street, looking this way and that for enemies, and not a single person being present. She doesn’t know why she feels so uncomfortable about being alone—maybe it’s because she doesn’t want something to happen to her and have no one know about it, maybe she just thinks that there is safety in numbers—but she tends to panic when she’s in a situation by herself. In the past, that fear caused her to find some negotiable allies.
Weapon of Choice: “Hidden Flame” – Keyblade
*A long Keyblade that Kana wields left-handed, Hidden Flame has a deep blue handle, the same color as the base of a flame. The blade itself fades from deep red to orange, the tip bright yellow. The key chain is a simple flame that actually seems to glow.
Ability: Believing her strange habit of talking to herself is partially to blame, Kana’s unique ability is that she can create multiple ghost images of her Keyblade during battle. It requires a great deal of energy and concentration to control them all, especially since she cannot control the exact number of images she creates, but it has come in handy as a way to distract the Aversai while she makes a quick getaway. She has never relied on this ability in battles with larger groups of Aversai, fearing that she will leave an opening for them to exploit.
Magic: Triple Firaga, Fire Surge, Flamestrike
Recent History: Kana’s family owned a shop in Traverse Town’s second district, selling everything from clothing to battle accessories. There were few children in that world, so Kana spent a great deal of time by herself as she grew up. When she was thirteen, the epidemic finally came. Her father, a member of the defense force, immediately went to fight the Aversai back and never returned home. Left in the custody of her mother, Kana frightfully took shelter in the attic apartment of their shop, but she couldn’t shut out the sounds of her mother falling to a group of Chasers. Now what was she going to do?! She was all alone and if she didn’t act, they would come for her. But...she was still just a child—what could she do?
Whatever happened, she refused to die without a fight, hiding in the dark. If she was going to join her parents, she wanted to be with them. Kana ran from the room, flying down the stairs into the darkness. Most of the Chasers had fled, but a few returned when they heard her frantic footsteps. She grabbed the leg of what remained of a display table, whirling around to strike her foes—but a blast of light temporarily blinded her and when she was able to see again, she held in her hand a strange weapon that bore an odd resemblance to a key. It cut through the few foes she was faced with and she was left alone. Knowing she couldn’t stay, she grabbed what she could and unceremoniously stuffed her belongings and her father’s armor into a backpack. Boarding the train, she left Traverse Town and never looked back.
The next few years passed in a whirl of various worlds and learning about her mysterious weapon. She hated being on her own, and so she clung to whoever she could in the worlds she traveled through. They weren’t always the best people, but she had no choice. If she was by herself... Well, it was an irrational fear, but she couldn’t help it. Her parents had died and she’d been the witness. Maybe she just wanted to make sure that if something did happen to her, she wouldn’t be forgotten—someone, even someone she didn’t know well, would know. One of her allies had been something else, and he’d lulled her into a false sense of security before stealing her Keyblade and trying to make off with it. Kana knew immediately, of course, and summoned the weapon back. Filled with rage that he had taken advantage of her trust, her temper exploded—literally. He fled, singed, and she realized that she had the power to cast fire spells. It would come in handy as a way to distract Aversai in the future, but learning to control it took quite some time and she still ends up making many mistakes and singeing her eyebrows.
Now, almost ten years after she left home, Kana finds herself alone in a new world: Twilight Town.
