Yen Press to Resume Publication of KINGDOM HEARTS Manga!

Announced today at their panel at Sakura-Con in Seattle, Washington, Yen Press graced the KINGDOM HEARTS community with some fantastic news: that they'd be resuming the publication of Shiro Amano's beloved manga adaptation of the series!
Those of you who are familiar with it may remember that Tokyopop had originally taken the Kingdom Hearts manga under its wing with the release of the first volume on October 11, 2005. They released all four volumes of the original KINGDOM HEARTS, both of CHAIN OF MEMORIES and the first two volumes of KINGDOM HEARTS II until 2008, when they abruptly ceased publication.
Instead of picking up where they left off, Yen Press revealed that they would be starting over anew. The release of the two volumes of KINGDOM HEARTS FINAL MIX in May 2014 2013, with CHAIN OF MEMORIES following the next month as one volume in June 2014 2013. They've also revealed that they have the rights to both KINGDOM HEARTS II and 358/2 Days, and will release the first volume of 358/2 Days in November 2013, the first release of the series's manga adaptation under their supervision.
Update (4-1-2013): It appears that the publishing dates for KINGDOM HEARTS and CHAIN OF MEMORIES were reported incorrectly by Anime News Network. The transcript of the Yen Press panel at Sakura-Con 2013 shows that the two KINGDOM HEARTS FINAL MIX volumes will release May 2013 and CHAIN OF MEMORIES will follow June 2013!
Following CHAIN OF MEMORIES will be the KINGDOM HEARTS II manga, as well as the KINGDOM HEARTS Artbook which contains illustrations by manga artist Shiro Amano. All of this will lead in to the release of 358/2 Days in November. Thanks to forum member lys for the tip!
Update 2 (4-5-2013): Shiro Amano: The Artwork of KINGDOM HEARTS will be released October 29th for $25 USD.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS! I wanted them to pick it up since forever! Yen Press is my favorite manga publisher. They can be pretty expensive but now I can rebuy KH and CoM as the omnibus (I have them all stored away for safekeeping) and THEY ARE STARING DAYS IN NOVEMBER AHHHHHHH *CRYING*
Holy crap, certainly wasn't expecting this at all! I'm very glad though, I'd given up hope of ever seeing another volume of the manga being brought stateside!

There is no word on it. You can probably import them from North America if somebody like Manga Entertainment UK or other publishers in Europe don't pick it up as well.

Because they said they are staring fresh, but know people have already probably read KH, CoM, and the piece of KH2. Days is the newest work so it is easier to start from there, finish it, and hopefully by time they get Days, KH, and CoM out KH2 will be 100% done in Japan. They will probably start KH2 in 2014 so...yeah it's a very logical setup.
It should be assumed that they plan to retranslate so while they might be the same it might be a bit different.
I've had the eight American volumes sitting on my shelf for God knows how long.
Finally I can hope for a complete set.
I have all the KH1 volumes and both CoM. None of them are in great condition though, so I'll probably pick all of these up (hopefully they're not too expensive though).

It's the newest meaning the most relevant. Also with 1.5 coming out around the same time there should be a good amount of interest over it. Translating and printing omnibuses take longer, also because Kingdom Hearts and CoM were already fully released in the past. They aren't high on their list of priorities because of that. People have already had the chance to read it if they picked them up years ago, while the Days manga has never been released outside of Japan before.
Hooray! It's good to know the manga is in good hands with great titles such as Black Butler, Soul Eater, Durarara!!
Though it does kinda tick me off that with BB they used the word "cos" when "Earl" Grey is talking. :/

Gah! Now I can see glorious scenes like Riku throwing a paopu at Sora so he'll know he's in The Land of Dragons, Xion and Pluto being the cutest thing ever, etc. Oh my gosh, is this real?! YES! More heart and comedy (and sometimes better explanations about things) to the series, here I come!

Nothing added to it. This was what they called the reprint of the KH manga in Japan. Instead of four volumes they made it into three and felt the need to change the name.
Yes, hopefully if this does ell we'll get the novels as well.
I while ago when Shiro Amano posted on St. Valentines Day about KH2 Vol 6 to be released in Japan, I commented saying "please Shiro Amano, we want them here too". Everyone in that thread was disappointed...
But just when everyone gave up hope--this bit of news appeared. Today the fan voice has been heard.

They're not in a good condition, but I'm definitely going to keep them alongside the new versions. I'm glad they're restarting rather than picking up where they left off, because I love more complete versions, plus I'll at least have the manga in a better quality in terms of production.

Ugh! As ecstatic as I am about their release, I can't help but be a bit nervous. I really hope they don't drop the KH manga...EVER lol or at least until the KH manga stops being made in Japan, in which case it won't be made here either. The last thing we need to get it back again only to lose it...again >_<

Yen Press is one of the biggest manga publishers in North America next to Viz, Digital Manga Publishing (which has its feet more in the yaoi business), and Dark Horse (which is probably the longer running of them all and tends to cater to an older audience.)
They won't be dropping the Kingdom Hearts license anytime soon (the only reason Tokyopop ever dropped KH to begin with was because they were having financial issues which eventually led to their closure in North America all together) and the fact they decided to pick it up shows just how much they have done to expand their business.
They also have picked up plenty of Square Enix titles and they remain to be very popular so...Kingdom Hearts will probably do them well.
This is great news! I only ever owned two volumes of Tokyopop's KH1 releases, and I ended up donating those.

I'm not sure, they are the typical size for manga, though, and tend to have a nice glossy or matte covers. Definitely high quality stuff.
They came into being in 2008 and have been buying up licenses to popular series for some years. They are definitely a growing company that doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon.
The manga is 100x better than the game or the HD Cutscene Theater. It has all of the charm the past manga had plus the bits of charm the games had. All of the Disney interactions are perfect, too.
This is great, because I didn't get a chance to read all of them.
I just realized I am missing the first volume, and that my copies are in rather poor shape. XD

I can't really stand manga or a lot of animes, but this has me excited.
I only own one manga book and that is Kingdom Hearts featuring Monstro and Atlantica so I'm excited to get more.
This is amazing news! I'm personally not too keen with reading scans, and the only book I own is the first volume of KH2.
I just hope that I'll be able to find them here once they're released. And I'm also praying that I still have enough money saved up to buy all the volumes. Then again, my birthday falls on June...

Totally agree about BBS and DDD but I'd be fine without Coded as a manga. I think Amano would be bored with it.

If you'd prefer buying a copy from a store in your area though, you could try a comic store (which would almost definitely get copies) or you could try a big name book store like Barnes and Noble perhaps? It seems as though bookstores are attempting to stock more manga so it's likely that they could get a copy or have one in stock once these are made available.

Is there a Barnes and Noble by you? When I went to mine originally awhile back and asked about Kingdom Hearts, they had a record of it in their computers but said they never ordered any. I went to the Tokyopop section of the "Comics for Girls" section (yeah, KH was located there) and found the first volume when that as the only one out. You might have luck trying that but if not Amazon's prices aren't bad at all.

What do you mean? Amano has been making new chapters for KHII since October of last year.

It wasn't? He put it on hiatus to work on Days instead. Like Ethy said, he's been working on KHII since October last year, and the 6th volume will be released in May.
