A brand-new Kingdom Hearts 3 trailer was shown during the Kingdom Hearts Fan Event at D23 2018. Thankfully, we didn’t have to wait long before we could watch it as Disney and Square Enix have released the trailer!

It was a pretty cool trailer. Though didn't really feel much excitement watching it.
Might be me but the visuals look a little worse, though at this point i'm pretty much done complaining and just accepting it as is.
This game looks gorgeous. The animations are soooo good.

At long last, I feel the hype once more.
Not a huge fan of the Monsters Inc designs, but I LOVE how everything else looks! Some areas still look a little rough, but the models have received a very nice upgrade since the last D23 trailer. Flynn and Rapunzel, Ariel and Meow Wow summons, the large open environments and bosses. E3 can't get here fast enough!
Where do I even start? This game looks absolutely fantastic, I really like Marluxia's model (but why are Sora's eyes so bright?).
There seems to be a lot going on gameplay wise and this could be very good or very bad, we just have to wait and see. It looks gorgeous, though, especially the Ariel summon. And we finally get some Rapunzel action!
ALSO. The command menu is different in every world again, like in KH2!

Amazing trailer! Far more than what I was expecting!
Still, can't shake the feeling that they'll leave Disney Villains aside this time, which is a bummer for me. Well, I'll hope for the best!
Also, little tidbit: Sora still has his orange/purple pattern in Monsters Inc, but only when he's in his new Keyblade Form (orange specialty confirmed?)

I'm still wondering why Tangled got the exotic treatment. In the film it didn't really look like a jungle or swamp with alligators. Not to say that there were any alligators seen. But as that area looked it reminded me more of a Jungle Book world or even Bolt tv series.

I'm thinking that at some point in the game, sora will come in possession of the Book of prophecies and visit sleeping worlds that the book creates. It seems like these world's are sleeping if sora can use dream eaters

Okay the pic I saw on Twitter of Sora looks worse than in motion lol, its really strange but I like it...tbh my one problem was Sulley's fur? Everything else looked good. Even the models in Toy Story were better. It was so hard to keep up with what was happening in combat lol, but it looked like a few combo attacks like the rocket with Woody and Buzz.
I was so happy to see Rapunzel and Eugene fighting, but they weren't quite like I expected lol. I wonder if Rapunzel always tries to hook onto things if she just does it when there are trees around? And where did Eugene get the barrel lol.
Glad the whole switching the HUD in every world is back, I always liked that touch in kh2.

Oh yeah so what was the point of Xehanort's speech about not using the weak members and the traitors from the last Organization..and then putting in Marluxia anyway? I dunno, I know people always guessed he would be in the Seeker's but I really though that made it sound like he wouldn't be...
You get to team up with Meow Wow in KH3? I guess I'll be as excited to play as I was with KHDDD. (I didn't play 3D until 2017, y'all).
So we got Rapunzel and Eugene in Action and Ariel and Dream Eaters Summons and More of The Toy Story World and of Course Monsters Inc and i was Surprised that Vanitas and Marluxia making a Comeback but Still no San Fransokyo darn it i was so looking Forward to San Fransokyo making it's Debut Footage but we'll have to wait till the Next Event for San Fransokyo time.
Well cool, just checked these with the 4Chan leak and it completely invalidates that leak. The release date wasn't announced (not even a release quarter), no Monsters Inc attraction flow with a car, no Kairi, and the trailer doesn't end with Roxas and Ventus.

Marluxia is a bit weird, but your mileage may vary on him! He tried to betray/undermine Xemnas in CoM after all, so I can't really see him as going to work for the guy!
The fact that his Somebody might have been someone of importance in the past is definitely a point of interest too.
( That said, I think Xigbar still calls himself Xigbar, and Saix still calls himself Saix -- again, we don't know enough yet, so we'll have to wait and see )-

I’m so excited to see Monster’s Inc! It’s my favorite Pixar film that isn’t Toy Story! However I’m not too excited about Marluxia coming back. He’s a very bland member of Organization XIII. Then again anyone not named Axel or Larxine is a dull uninteresting member.

He doesn't seem to understand that Sora is referencing the new Organization, so I think he may not be a Seeker after all. I was thinking this when I listened without subtitles but the subtitles seem(?) to confirm it. I do wonder about his continued usage of his Nobody name.

Same. I noticed when Sora is walking up to the building entrance there's some scaffolding right below the "We Scare Because We Care" sign as if they were going to change what it says.

There's a few oddities, some which shows it takes place during Monsters Inc., and some that show it takes place after.
For the "takes place after crowd":
- There is scaffolding in front of the sign outside the building, hinting they are changing it from "We Scare Because We Care".
- There are balloons on the floor where the scarers go through doors.
- There are banners that say "Think Fun".
For the "takes place during":
- Mike and Sulley are afraid that Sora will find a human scary and toxic.

HM that's tricky. But yeah you're right they definitely shredded her door at the end of the movie 'cause it was a big twist when Mike showed Sulley that he had put the door back together for him, but that was way after the fact. Monsters wouldn't be afraid of humans anymore since they know they're not toxic. I assume they still just don't want kids knowing about the Monster world? Akin to Sora meddling in the affairs of other worlds.
I remember Waternoose saying something about her having seen too much and Roz had her whole speech about how she couldn't stay in the Monster world or come back.

Not all the time throughout the series, but the implication that Ven's heart got stirred throughout DDD seems to be more or less confirmed by these snippets as that was obviously Ven speaking through Sora.
I wonder if Sora and him will have any "heart chats" then as his body+soul are unreachable until Riku and Mickey find and return with Aqua.

I'm not gonna lie, though, it's kinda disheartening if Vanitas does really just fill the same roll again as in BBS. But seeing him again gets me so close to crying - I'm SORRY I don't even give a fuck about the rest of the trailer. It looks good, but VANITAS.
It's amazing to me that people can take one look at YX's face and notice the changes that were made to it. I watched the Orchestra trailer a (un)healthy amount of times myself but it's not the first thing that stood out to me and even seeing them before/after it just looks like a slight change in lighting.
Also just, riding the rails for the doors in Monsters Inc. is one of those simple ideas I've wanted to see implemented in KH for a long time (surely I'm not alone in that). Pretty gratifying to see it finally coming true though.

I'm kinda worried that there would be much fewer Disney worlds than we thought. By just looking the released trailers, we could see the insane amount of work they put into each worlds. Then the recent Nomura's interview which states that there are 3 categories of worlds: beginning-middle-last and each of them contains 3 worlds. So my prediction is there are only 9 Disney worlds in total.
The world map will be similar to Birth by Sleep.

Intersection 1: Mysterious Tower

I actually really like the upgraded at the bottom. Also I think they re-edited Sora's eyes to represent his light since apparently blue is considered light in this series.

Looking back at Marluxia's words, maybe he isn't a Seeker. He says he is a member of the "only" Organization, and he serves it.
He wanted to overtake the Organization before, so maybe he only considers that Organization, one that he controls, to be the only one worth acknowledging. We also don't know how he will connect in the grander scheme of KHUX so maybe there's something happening on a deeper level.
Also the Mickey model in the other trailer matches the chocolate medal released yesterday for KHUX. That means Minnie Mouse is confirmed for Kingdom Hearts 3, and with it Disney Castle since she has not appeared once without that world also appearing with it. Whether it is just a cutscene or fully playable is yet to be seen.

Full agreement on this one, also since it reminds me of Nomura jokingly telling in an interview once that Irino always wanted to voice a bad guy and he lets totally loose with Vanitas.

When thinking about this I remember Braig from Re: Coded speaking about his own plans and ambitions as well as quite some extra coatys running around in Ux.
Being a shady felllow/bad guy clad in a black coat may not necessarily mean aligned with Xehanort in all cases, also thinking about that old image from Browser Chi where at the Keyblade Graveyard there were 13 Coatys on one side and 9 on the other.
As I said elsewhere, while Marluxia having his own agenda opens more interesting paths than just a bunch of Norts waiting for the final battle to take place, I'm unsure of what good will do having so many parties and factions in a game with so much to tell and show.
At this point I'd rather have Vanitas being the rebellious one.

I think if Marluxia isn't in fact a Seeker, he's probably there primarily for set up for Ux and maybe KH4 or whatever is after KH3. Considering Ux is apparently scheduled to run to infinity and beyond I don't think we'll see definitive closure for Marluxia in KH3, so it could be that his role is confined to the one world and some teasing Sora/the audience about future things then conveniently disappearing before answering any of the most pertinent questions we have. Nomura's gonna need some interview material with which to squeeze fan interest/consternation post-release after all.

So it was hard for me to make out a few times, but yea, I really love the Tangled Keyblade. Like in normal and "Magic Rod" forms. The Monster's Inc one is plain in color pallet but I think it makes sense, Boo in her monster outfit is the keychain that's super cute. I think I may like it even more in the transformed states. Glad I think all the Keyblades are solid so far.

I saw the monster stars earlier. I saw the Tangled ones are at least purple, but I couldn't tell if they had anything special going on in the effects. I would imagine it would. They are usually pretty fun about that that, one of my favorite little KH things next to the world logo popping up when you first show up *sigh* We still haven't seen any of those!

It also reminds me of the 90s in superheroes comic books, and how they will always double down on certain things:

There'd have to be a solid reason for his appearance to change, though. Just switching it up sounds kinda eh to me.
Also I think that Vanitas's hair is actually longer than Sora's in the models, at least a slight bit.
Honest opinion... I am starting to get used to this, which is a bad thing. Like I saw the trailer - I was like "cool", I skimmed it and I'm like "Yeah, I'll watch it when I get a chance"... da fuq? It looks amazing! It looks like the greatest game of all-time (I said the same thing about Mario Odyssey, and while it was good, it underwhelmed me), but thank God it's releasing this year because I don't think I can take anymore years of trailers without the game losing it's freshness.
Imagine if this was the reveal trailer and we just found out it was coming out this year.
These guys are masters at trailers; they ease you in with the gorgeous cutscenes, and then at 1:40 it's the OMG moment.
RIP Robin Hood; I never realized how much it would overlap with Corona.

That's adorable. I noticed the command menu for the Monsters Inc transformations has a worker monster shining a flashlight on the selected command. That world has super cute little details already.

As I said elsewhere, while Marluxia having his own agenda opens more interesting paths than just a bunch of Norts waiting for the final battle to take place, I'm unsure of what good will do having so many parties and factions in a game with so much to tell and show.
At this point I'd rather have Vanitas being the rebellious one.
That's also a possibility, actually. There are a few "out of universe" reasons for not having a blatant Dark Sora nonchalantly showing off in a trailer.
I can see the the concern as having too many different factions at work would require much focus-jumping or resort to the same "have everything not involving Sora directly happen behind the scenes"-approach that KH 2 took.
Then again though, the original Keyblade War had five different factions and since so far almost everything has gone "as planned" for the Overnort it's about time that several wrenches are thrown into his gears.

They look amazing, and each one has a different theme going on, but it really seems they now had to go down with them in numbers because the want to conclude the whole complicated story of the Xehanort saga.
Since every Disney world now has its own theme I think we will get maybe 7 or max 9 Disney worlds:

2. Hercules (mountain theme)
3. Big Hero Six (urban theme)
4. Toy Story (toy theme)

I'm hyped for a lot of things, wasn't expecting to see Vani and Marly, and even though I'm worried they'll be handled in a meh way I'm still excited to see them!! That orchestral theme too... I really hope they use it. I love it. Not only is it amazing but it reminds me of the concert and ahhhh!
Unfortunately I like what I see less and less all the time when it comes to combat. There's just more and more flashy all over the place stuff added in every trailer and it's overwhelming. As long as you don't have to use it that can be fine, but I am a little worried. Also not too happy about the flowmotion still having a very... DDD look to it. Hm, oh well. We'll see.

FINALLY I can FINALLY stop theorizing and trying to speak for the return of Dream Eaters. Also this is probably an early game move for Sora, I say that because of three things...
1. Nomura said that the scene in DDD where Sora goes back to see all his dream eaters was hinting something in KH3.
2. Sora lingered way to long in the dream worlds it's brought up several times he is late and the reason why is "a secret".
I've theorized for a long time that what Sora was trying to do was find a way to bring his Dream Eaters with him. It just feels like the logical thing for Sora or really anyone. I mean I moved from east coast to west coast which was almost a week long drive, but I didn't leave my cat behind. And my friend who came with didn't leave his dog behind. Pets are something special and as far as we know DE's are Sora's first pet/pets so I was really hoping that he'd find a way to bring them with him. And he did! Good on you Sora, Good on you!
Also yeah Ventus is super awake now...like that Vanitas response was immediate.

The last 2 are very unlikely cause they already confirmed that Big Hero 6 is the last movie they were choosing for KH3. Also if Frozen counts as confirmed then Winnie the Pooh is aswell making it 7 confirmed Disney worlds. I personally think that we'll get Jungle Book, Wreck It Ralph and Treasure Planet (fan demand) as last couple worlds. Maybe another world we've already visited before like Disney Castle/Town or Agrabah.
Marluxia and Vanitas look amazing. Soo much stuff in the trailer to process (just saw it this morning so I'm still running off new trailer hype!), little worried Vanitas being there means no Randall or Waternoose but Vani certainly has his own goal of still trying to reunite with Ventus to become whole again. Marly is more unclear...he seems to be part of the Neo Organization, but his eyes aren't yellow and his banter with Sora revolves around the events of CoM so who knows? Plus we have the whole Lauriam thing in UX going on, so there's definitely more to Marluxia being back than being a Nort.
Monsters Inc. world looks amazing! Even looks like a few places can be explored that weren't seen much in the movie. Sora's Monster Form is nifty, gotta wonder though...are there lighting shenanigans going on or does his fur actually shift colors between black/grey and orange/purple in-game? Hoping for the latter, that'd be a cool touch if there was a trigger for the color shift.
Ok so I've been a longtime lurker, but I just had to make an account to discuss everything with y'all.
First of all, I honestly love Sora's monster design. I feel like it fits well with the world while still being very 'Sora,' if that makes sense. Second of all, I already really like the interaction happening in the Monsters Inc world between SDG and Sully/Mike/Boo. It's freakin' adorable.
I never used Summons much in KH1 or 2, but I loved seeing the animations (especially the Stitch one lmao), and the Ariel & DE ones look fabulous!! I'm really hoping for a Jack Skellington summon because I'm a sucker for Halloween-y stuff.
I don't care how similar Riku looks to Noctis; his new outfit and hair are so stylish! I especially love the hair because, omg, his short hair in DDD/0.2 (outside of the sleeping worlds) was TRAGIC imo.
So we've got 5 Disney worlds we know are coming for sure, and only 1 of them is an old one. This really makes me curious as to how many Disney worlds are left, and how many of them will still be new. Honestly, I don't want them to put in more worlds just for the sake of it. Quality > quantity here for me, and as much as I'd love to have certain worlds (Wreck-it Ralph and Treasure Planet please) in the game, I don't want it to be a case of movies being shoehorned in just for the sake of being able to say 'hey, this Disney thing is in KH!'
E3 can't come soon enough! I really hope we get to see Kairi in the next trailer!! I'm dying to see her new outfit and like, her presence in general, because we all know that's been sorely lacking lmao.

He talks about how he wanted to say thank when it was all over but how it was harder than he thought it would be to say thanks. If this was just a journal message he wouldn't have such strong emotions and regrets tied to it. So he definitely remembered her it's just apparently really only her that he remembered. Which is fine it's not like "anyone else" in that castle mattered to him in any meaningful way.
The Mike Wazowski scene was magical. Great trailer overall. I like how they incorporated the features from DDD: Drop, Meow Wow, and parts of Flow Motion.

I've been thinking they are just editing it since the transformations are so important to the combat and stuff now. But we could be getting a new one the beginning or middle of each world now instead.

That post makes me think, while we've noticed in the past the parallel between between Marluxia and Gothel, seeing the others really makes me want to start theorizing that all the Disney worlds will parallel their respective nort in some way and that we can figure out what's left on both by comparing movies and characters.

Vanitas' helmet/mask existed way before Shattered Empire or Battlefront II were even planned though so if anything the Star Wars material got the inspiration from KH instead of the other way around.

I dunno if that was ever confirmed although Nomura did speak about Ventus and Vanitas reacting to each other so it is possible that Sora saw only Young Xehanort while Vanitas was visible only to Ventus.

I'm really hoping Marluxia's involvement is something other than "I'm back and I serve the seekers of darkness".
Something about the way he stated "the only organization" makes me think that he's not entirely aware of the situation. I hope if there is Xehanort influence, it is physically shown in some way, not just a single dialogue line of "yes Marluxia has my darkness in him too".

We do have his statement of "most" to go by, he said most of the Organization were unfit, so you'd need 7 members (Excluding Xemnas and possibly Xion due to the whole amnesia issue) to not be seekers.
The "easy" list would be the five in RG, Roxas, and Xion, that makes seven. Excluding Xion the most unfitting I'd say is Demyx. Although if I'm using personality as a criteria, Xaldin would fit right in so.....blegh, I suppose Xion will have to work.

Indeed, and those spawning a human-shaped Nobody have the strongest wills and hearts of all.

I've been thinking about Marluxia
He's known to be a rebel by heart, so I strongly doubt that he would let Xehanort treat him like a puppet. I mean he even resisted Xemnas so he's not going to be controlled that easily or become a vessel.
He still has his blue eyes. As Ive got it cleared all vessels have golden eyes right? Well Marluxia still have his blue eyes. One side of me thinks that Marluxia is going to obtain something big, (maybe looking for The Book Of Prophecies) He's for sure up to something bigger than another X-Blade war.
Pretty cool trailer. I think that Marluxia will once again try to overthrow the Organization. He created (or is making) his own Organization hence him claiming that he serves the "only" Organization. I don't think he is a Seeker of Darkness. Though it would be kinda lame if he just does the routine he did back in CoM.
Loved the Vanitas scene. He looks silly dressed like that though. He should throw that coat away and reveal his old attire. That polished black mask looks great on its own though. Obviously, that's the reason why he wears it around Sora. I am curious how his Monster Inc. form would look though. Also, is it just me or does his Keyblade look kinda thick... In BBS it looked thinner and sharper. Is it because they are in the Monster Inc. world and his Keyblade changed form or is it because of the new rendering and engine?

I really hope Marly has his own goal and isn't with the norts, like has been said his eyes are normal, and I also find it suspicious he apparently didn't expect Sora not to remember him? Which could even mean he doesn't know about anything that happened after CoM. But then again no one in this series communicates so maybe MX just you know, forgot to tell his underlings what's what. No one actually knows what they're doing, just going around bullying the main cast because why not.
Anyway give me another Marly fight. Make it as good as in KH2.
When I saw part of Riku and Kairi's new designs in that anniversary illustration Nomura had drawn, I was somewhat disappointed because it looked like their clothes and hair weren't that different from before. Now that we got a good look at Riku's full outfit for KH3, I got excited because of how wrong I was about him.
Now I'm wondering how Kairi's design will be. Does it look like her hair is shorter, or is that just because of the hood? Pic for reference:

Actually it does indeed mean something. Cause he could have said less then KH 1. He didn't he said KH 2. So it's not bullshit as you eloquently put it. KH 1 had 9 worlds so I don't expect less then that. 9-10 is my theory and I stand firmly by it. Just as many or a little more then KH. So there's still 2-3 worlds we don't know about, including the ones that the leak suggested which is Frozen and 100 Acre Wood.

Honestly, I think you're right in that regard because I had that same thought too, Sora won't be getting his new outfit until the end of Olympus. The only reason why his Kingdom Hearts III trailer was shown of for the Orchestra Trailer was to show off the Olympus Keyblade transformation.

Hm, I did sort of think he wouldn't get his new outfit until after Olympus in general, but this does raise some questions. I made a list of events this year that has had a Kingdom Hearts trailer or demo on display in the past. Disney and Square Enix might have Kingdom Hearts at a number of these.
There's a PAX East event in April in Boston a week before the Union Cross fan event in Los Angeles.
There's E3 in June, San Diego Comic Con in July, Gamescom in August, Tokyo Game Show in September, New York Comic Con and Paris Games Week in October, and PSX / Jump Festa in December.
Each event listed above, excluding PSX, has had at least one Kingdom Hearts trailer or demo in the past.

Technically yes, you're right but the fact that Utada came back to the franchise makes me believe she did a hell of a contract, she have said before that she would never come back for KH because Disney didn't pay well
