Nintendo announced during their Nintendo Direct Mini 1.11.18 that The World Ends With You -Final Remix- will be releasing this year on the Nintendo Switch. This updated version of TWEWY will include updated graphics, Joy-Con and touchscreen support, along with quality of life improvements found in TWEWY Solo Remix for smartphones.
It will also include a brand new scenario featuring characters like Coco Atarashi from TWEWY Live Remix and the unknown girl who appeared in the secret ending of TWEWY Solo Remix.

Maybe because the requests never died. It took forever until FF Type-0 made it over across the world, and that was only when it got an HD Remake. I doubt that would have even happened if fans hadn't still been screaming for it after years.

Sounds like it might be post-game content, but they also make it sound like you can jump right into “the heart of things†in that announcement. We’ll have to likely wait for more info like a Famitsu interview or something.

No, I mean I know that is why it got made. It was definitely fan demand and wanting to put something good on the Switch, but I’m wondering what changed between the entirety of the 3DS gen and the Switch gen to actually push them into gear. It was clearly a project they wanted to do after Solo Remix and they were building the foundations with Live Remix, and even back then there was a ton of fan demand out there.
Why did it take six years for a new TWEWY project to get off its feet when they were clearly building up to something back in 2012/2013. There is a story there and I crave to know it.

i think why it took them so long is that i think nomura was having hard time finding a team to work with him because i think all the orignal members eith reited or move on from the project or square itself besise nomura,ishimoto and shinji

I mentioned it on twitter, but it's so weird this was announced right after Strelitzia's quests... whoever does the khinsider twitter joked about the new girl possibly being the incarnation of Strelitzia... but yeah, timing is just weird.
Anyways... *deep breath* MRGRGRGRGRGR!!!!!! Why does it have to be on the switch?! Now they're just forcing me to buy the Switch, as if Octopath Travelers wasn't enough. -_-

I doubt they were having issues finding staff for it. TWEWY Solo Remix was made by a good number of new and original staff. Also the directors of Solo Remix, other Ito and Kando, are at SE still. Hasegawa was working on XV but he is definitely still at SE. Getting a team to develop it shouldn’t have been too difficult. It was something more political I think.

Just means Nintendo paid the bill for it like they paid for Bravely Default and Bravely Second. Now this makes much more sense. It wasn’t so much about staffing or timing, but money...

New TWEWY content, nice! Time to replay the DS game since I don't have Switch. This gives hope for it being in KH3 too, not a fan of how it was handled in DDD but maybe this time it'll be better! I want to believe.

I don't know how I feel about this. After such a long time it seems to me the possible sequel is now completely dead and everything we'll ever see of it is now part of the new epilogue.
It's better than nothing I guess, but it's a bit heartbreaking too. Maybe we get a proper sequel if the re-re-release is successful enough but I'm not holding my breath.

Yeah, I also think this could help a sequel rather than damaging it. If it shows TWEWY fans are still in for it, and newcomers join the hype, I don't see why wasting the opportunity.
I personally don't really want a TWEWY sequel, but whatever floats other people's boats.

You know what I bet dollars to doughnuts this was supposed to be on the WiiU. Think about it, a two screen system that is literally a console DS? TWEWY would have been a perfect game for it and instead of jumping in with a new game they had to test the waters using a port. With that count down Coco and the mysterious girl were likely meant to be fun little teasers for it.
However then the WiiU did terri-bad in sales and they got access to switch dev kits. So they pulled development from the WiiU to make a switch version instead, but as a result that means they couldn't talk about the game until the switch was announced. Add in now they had to rework the gameplay system to incorporate the switch features including one screen gameplay, which looks to be similar but not quite the same as the cellphone (your partners appear to follow you and do stuff regardless of the psyche you use, whereas the partners were only on screen attacking if you used the right psyche. It probably sent development hella back.
THAT is why after all that build up to TWEWY everything went totally dead until now.
If we remember "New 7 Days" was on the teaser with the girl so I expect the new content will be the equivalent of one week probably the Joshua week since week 1 was mostly tutorials and week 3 was largely just battles. Week 2 was where pretty much the bulk of the story happened.

I believe the explosion is meant to be Sho's Level i Flare. In which case this new scenario is probably taking place during Week 2.

I guess my first thought was about the UG because I interpreted "a new scenario that gets right to the heart of the story" as something that might give explanations regarding further ontological reasons and rules behind TWEWY's Shibuya and the origin of the Game and, as Hype-chan appears right after, that this origin of the Game is connected to Hype-chan :'3

It would also make sense if they might have had Wii U plans for TWEWY, but they also had the 3DS that was still going strong at the time. If development didn't work out well for the Wii U, they could have moved it there and just downsized the project.
I think we might still be able to control our partners with the D-Pad, too.
I'm hoping for a Week 2 situation with a lot of story meat, but I also want some meaty gameplay. New bosses and enemies would be amazing as well.

I'm sure they will. I'd kill for more static figures of them. I missed out on getting them back in 2007/2008 and the ones that I had almost gotten were broken :c

I thought about it, but we see Eri in the game. Remember when Shiki freaks out because Neku finds out she looks exactly like Eri. They see her wandering around the RG and Eri is the reason Shiki gains the confidence to continue on.

I thought about that, but Hype-Chan is in a school uniform and Eri may not be in stylish mode while in a Japanese school. We've only seen Eri for a couple brief times so we really only know what she looks like when she's out doing teen stuff.

I think that image was conveying KH3 100%. The animal is nothing like any of the pets we've seen so far. The music note could have easily meant the Orchestra concerts if we are looking for outside meaning in the blurs, but I 100% expect it to represent a world in the game.
I could see her being an angel or something now that we know this story is central to the plot. At first I kinda thought she was just another Player, since it said another 7 days when they showed her.
Yeah I was imagining the art with the big play arts figures and it didn't quite match lol. Static Arts sounds quite likely and yea maybe Bring Arts as well.
She could still be a Player or connected to the Players while being something else as well. Maybe a Fallen Angel?

The Year of the Dog speculation is actually perfectly plausible. We didn't know a release date, but if it's indeed a dog and we won't find a different connection in the future, I think we can safely assume it was a hint towards KH3's release year, 2018 (Chinese Year of the Dog).

I don't disagree, but this was drawn early last year. I really doubt he drew it to promote TWEWY Final Remix that far back. The image wouldn't have been blurred because he'd have just promoted that part for the TWEWY 10 year anniversary that started last year.

You have to have the right pin set up and all of the Regen gear you can equip or you get crushed so easily.

A guy on YT made a 1 hour video explaining the new trailer, and it all makes sense now. Something about Egyptian gods, the baby detects the monsters, the ocean is the game over screen, and the baby inside of you is confirming you want to start the game over. Or something.

No because we mention it on the 2nd page of this thread lol Amiibos would be fantastic. I think a lot of us would throw our money at a small run of Neku, Shiki, Joshua, Beat, Rhyme, Minamimoto, and Hype-chan.

I’d love that. Have the original game packaged in because it’s so short lol but remake the whole thing with a completely updated story and tack on another play through as Dauragon so we can play his backstory. Also I need answers about Dominique.

You should be able to save up for the Switch before the game releases. The HD overhaul is enough to double dip.
The Switch itself is well worth the money it costs for it. I'm kind of crying because I can play Oxenfree on it on the go, and when I get bored at work I can whip it out and do a few Pokken matches.
