Square Enix has announced that the Limited Edition version of KINGDOM HEARTS HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX will release exclusively on the Square Enix Online Store with an exclusive pin.
In Japan, fans will be receiving a limited 15th Anniversary Box featuring the artwork from KINGDOM HEARTS HD 1.5 ReMIX, KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.5 ReMIX, and KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue as it flows together to make one united piece of artwork. The box can be used to house KINGDOM HEARTS HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX and KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue.
KINGDOM HEARTS HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX launches in North America on March 28th and in Europe on March 31st.

If there's one thing playing KHUx has taught me, it's that JP Square treats KH fans like fans, and Western Square treats KH fans like customers. This pin gimmick is no exception.

I was one of those that got the Limited Edition from Amazon when I didn't order Limited Edition (I usually don't go for collector's editions/limited editions. Money reasons.).

I don't think it's hard at all - they just don't want to. I… there's just no other explanation. They always want Japan to get something exclusive. Which, okay, we get it, that's where KH is coming from, but still. It's not fair and it needs to stop with KH3. If they only give me a pin for that one, I swear I'll go nuts, lol
I collect all things KH so I'm actually glad to get the pin, and I do think this is actually the coolest pin of the 4 they've made (counting the 1.5 launch event pins that got hoarded by scalpers and sold on eBay). But it's just like, come on dude, why do they insist on constantly giving Japan special treatment? I know it's not entirely intentional, but there comes a point where it just feels like Square is ignoring us.

So after tax and shipping, you are paying around $60 for this. Full price of a game.
I get discounts from work and from Amazon Prime so I'd only be paying $45 at max for the game. This might be the first time I pass up an LE in North America. That $15 can go towards something worth my money.

Nope. Refuse to pay full price for this game when Square decides to screw NA once again on top of 2.8 already not being worth $60. Of course I'll get the game but f#%k paying extra for pin when that 15th anniversary box looks so damn awesome.

Just because some might not need a box doesn't mean they can make it Japan Exclusive again, it's still better than ONE PIN. Like, come on.
Also, this isn't just about the box, it's about us always getting a pin and Japan getting nice awesome things. We're being treated like those stepchildren you don't like, so you give your 'own' child, the one you like more, the awesome cake and the stepchild gets that lame broccoli soup.

Well, if this has taught me one thing, it's that regardless of what else comes with any fancy edition of KH3, it'll definitely include at least a pin.

However, I remember that the NA Square Enix shop, refused to send to (some ?) persons who bought with proxies, and canceled a few orders. I hope the Japan S-E shop don't follow the same policies. The ideal scenario would be for it to get released outside of the official shop, so we could buy it from shops like Play Asia.

For starters, why is this limited edition suddenly exclusive to the Square Enix online store? Considering that the other LE could be bought at pretty much any major retailer that sold video games, it just comes across as a really poor attempt by SE trying to persuade their customers to buy the games off the e-Store. Not to mention that while the pin is nice, I would like for them to make an LE KH pin that isn't just Sora and/or Mickey beside the logo for the game and I am so tired of that being the ONLY thing included in these so called limited editions.

SE Japan doesn't really care, thankfully. I think the problem with NA to Europe is the fact that the conversion rates mean that the NA version is cheaper for European fans to purchase. They want to prevent that kind of stuff happening.

Well, given that the KH fanbase has proven time and time again to be ravenous collectors, Disney pins are extremely collectible and sought after, and Square's e-Store gives them the maximum amount of profit, this really just adds up to NA Square milking us for money while also ignoring our requests. But what else is new?

At this point, it's probably gonna happen. Square seems to give big boxed editions to just about every game they release except Kingdom Hearts. Even the bigger 2.5 CE was only in response to fan outcry.

I've just come to the conclusion that they don't care about anyone else than Japan Fans. They just always have to emphasize that KH originates from Japan, apparently (I think so because Shimomura wanted the concert to be a Japan-First thing), which, again, is understandable, but there's a limit and they crossed the line already.

Japan can keep the huge stuff for them, it's understandable. But when S-E decides to release a "limited" edition in the west, then we would appreciate it if they didn't offer just a pin. I agree that a steelcase would be something that resembles more a limited / collectors edition. I would gladly buy that.
On the bright side, if we continue like this, in 10 years, we will have a great collection of pins to show to our children. So be patient and hope for more pins :tongue:
If it makes anyone feel any better, people on Sekaimon (Japanese eBay) are already selling our limited edition of 1.5 + 2.5 for inflated prices.
I was low key hoping that this would be extended to Amazon but I'm not surprised. Still not changing my preorder plans, my 20% discount, free shipping, and getting it on release day makes me feel too fuzzy inside.
It makes sense that Japan would get special treatment for Kingdom Hearts seeing that it is a game franchise made in Japan by a Japanese company. I just think it's a little ridiculous that everyone else always get shafted on these kinds of things. It's been proven time and time again that this is a popular franchise with a massive chunk of the its fanbase being in the west. This isn't some super unknown niche Japanese franchise, and yet despite that Square decides to make collectors and limited editions for every single one of their games and franchises except KH. After 15 years, its gotten just a little bit ridiculous.

Does KH not sell well enough in the West for them to bother making special editions? Which, I'm not sure I buy that. KH sells plenty well, just look at 2.8. The 2.5 collector's edition completely sold out back in 2014, and so forth. At this point, I don't think it has anything to do with logical reasoning, I just think NA Square is honestly just lazy. For 15 years, Square has treated Japan to the goods and shafted us. And no matter how much the fans raise their voices, Square doesn't do shit about it because they know we'll still buy the stuff.
On the plus side, at least Kingdom Hearts isn't made by Ubisoft. Cause then we'd be up to our necks in collector's editions, but the games themselves would all be glitchy piles of suck.

Long live Rob and Raio's best foot forward. 2.5's CE got close to being as good but with hardly the same amount of love put into KH3D's CE. I open that box sometimes just to stare at the artwork inside. I also use it to house all of my DS/3DS KH games + TWEWY.

While they were released the same year, I don't believe SQEX had enough time to provide a faceplate for the XL. And honestly, the N3DS/XL was released three years after that, which makes me think Nintendo's redesign process hinders the use of third party faceplates. It was definitely the fad back then as quite few other companies provided faceplates in special editions etc.

The XL released at the end of July in Japan and Europe (the latter alongside 3D's release), the less than a month later it was out in Australia and North America. With the knowledge that this device was coming, Square should have released something that all 3DS users could enjoy instead.
I haven't seen it mentioned yet, but preordering from the SE store not only gets you the limited edition, but also puts you in a sweepstakes for other collectibles. And if you buy 2.8 from SE store it's a sweepstakes for different collectibles. So there are 2 sweepstakes going on for this game right now. One through GameStop and another through SE. In case anyone was wondering.
