Kingdom Hearts 3 Official Keyart of Sora, Donald and Goofy!

As shown last week in Famitsu Weekly, Square Enix has released a new keyart of KINGDOM HEARTS III comprised of Sora, Donald and Goofy's new renders, first seen at the Future of Final Fantasy event! The artwork has now been officially released, and you can view it below:

Don't they look fantastic with the application of the Kingdom Shader? Donald and Goofy loook like they've been taken straight out of Disney's traditional 2D animation! It'll be exciting to see what the other characters and worlds will look like in the near future.

Donald and goofy look cel shaded. The kingdom shader at work!
I really wish I could figure out what makes Goofy look so out of whack. Donald is perfect. So is Sora, save for his face looking slightly feminine, but that's a common "side-effect" of Japanese anime-ish rendering (Anyone else remember the renders of Vaan from FFXII?)
Makes me more excited to see more Disney characters. I think the characters I want to see most are Maleficent, Hades, and Ansem SOD.
It's beautiful~ They've done a really good job on Donald and Goofy.

Same place all of our summaries and content are: under the game's menu on the main site. Head over to the acid trip on the right menu and click under Kingdom Hearts 3. You should find it right away!
6 months I spent putting together the greatest KH official media gallery ever. Really need to make this easier to find.

I wanna see Sora's New clothing but this is really good. Donald and Goofy look like they've been taken exactly from the cartoons.
I really wish I could figure out what makes Goofy look so out of whack. Donald is perfect. So is Sora, save for his face looking slightly feminine, but that's a common "side-effect" of Japanese anime-ish rendering (Anyone else remember the renders of Vaan from FFXII?)
I think it's his posture. The face is in character, but with that body language it looks a bit pedo to me. Also, the light reflecting on his cap.
But yeah, D and G look like they could be in high quality 2D clipart or something. They really look drawn.

Sora.... still looks weird to me, but I'm getting there. Anyway, I wonder if they'll use this same image later on, but with Sora's new outfit, or make a new image altogether. What do you guys think?
goofy and donal does look like they out of a cartoon sora doesn't look that to bad just needs a little tweaking if they going for a disney like movie feel this will make me happy and cry because i never thought they can do it make it feel like a disney movie of some sort
Wow, it looks good! I had to look a few times to see if Donald and Goofy were 3D renders or paintings :S I guess this is what Nomura meant by the Kingdom Shader...I look forward to how it will look in-game :)
I've said it before and I'll say it again. The Kingdom Shader is the greatest thing to have ever happened in the Kingdom Hearts series.

They look awesome!! Hell even Goofy who I've seen a few gripe about looks good! 8D

Oh wow, Sign! Those cutouts you edited are truly marvelous. Thank you for them;) And I think this Sora image has officially grown on me now. It all looks so great! And my hopes of them making a beautiful KH movie has now skyrocketed. LOL.
I realllyyy want to see Riku. I feel like he was the one that looked the most different with the graphics from the ending of Kingdom Hearts 2 and how he looked during the rest of the game. Hopefully the Kingdom Shader will help that.
Nice! Next-Gen Sora looks so darn amazing can't wait to see what his new costume will look like. Gods I can't wait to see all the new graphical improvements they're making to this game, especially how the Luminous engine is going to handle the lighting and particle effects in the game. This and FFXV are going to look so damn beautiful.
They all look amazing individually, but Sora's art style seems to contrast a bit with Donald and Goofy's. They both look like they were taken directly out of the cartoons but Sora still looks like he's from a final fantasy game. He just doesn't seem to fit in that cartoon like style. But I guess they are still tweaking the shader program. Excellent start nonetheless
Also I'm really excited to see the new clothes designs for everyone. Really hope the seven lights(including Mickey) get armor this time out. Would give me so many fangasms XD

I would assume that once they have Sora's new outfit finalized (since we don't know if it is set in stone yet) that they'll make a new render. I can't see them keeping the same one since it probably isn't shaped the exact same way as his KH2 outfit.

We don't know if the Kingdom Shader is in effect in that image for Sora in a Disney world. That could be what his render will look like on Destiny Islands or some SE original world where the Kingdom Shader won't take effect for him.

I don't care what anyone else says, the work of Kingdom Shader is simply amazing. I love it. It really does give a cartoonish Disney look to it. And Sora looks better than what I remember him as. Too good!

I would not say they look ripped from the cartoons. Cartoons are painted to look more flat than that.
Looking at them closely, I don't think I've ever seen that type of texture on an image. like ever. Its so new to my eyes. I love it. Ugh game now please.
The compression of the image is ruining the effort of the Kingdom Shader though, maybe you guys get a better image later on.

I think I'm the only one who doesn't see the "Kingdom Shader". I don't think it's in use here, these seem like normal, 3D models to me. Not cel-shaded either.
They look so great, all three of them. I am now just drooling at the idea of them running around with Pixar characters in a Pixar world....looking like they have come straight from a film.
I love this animation! It looks so good, but retains the cartoony qualities that make Kingdom Hearts what it is: they could make it look super realistic, but I'm glad they're doing the cell-shading instead!

A piece of 2 dimensional clipart. There is noticeably more shadow delineation and detail than in his cartoons, but little more than what is shown in the average disney movie from the nineties.
Here, you see that donald and goofy look much more like a piece of hand drawn artwork. They still look like they could move around in 3 dimensions too. Kind of makes for a 2 1/2 dimensional look.[/Spoiler]
After letting it sink in for a while, they definately look amazing! Goofy now actually looks more like his cartoon counterpart! It just needed some getting used to. Loving it now!

I'm sorry but I still don't see the KS (Kingdom Shader). I think it will be something different implemented on the worlds and these are just the basic models hence what people are calling the KS are just the upgraded models. The lightning detail is simply amazing, no question about it, but beyond that, they don't look much different than these models - except that they have a soft watercolour-y detail I love.

Ah, right.
But yeah, I'm really impressed with the Kingdom Shader. I remember talking about the possibility of future games ever utilizing cel-shades for future games, gosh probably 2010 or early 2011, and I'm pretty happy to see that it's happened. Like everyone else has already said, Donald and Goofy look like they're straight out of a cartoon. :D
Really excited to see Sora in his new outfit eventually! :D
