Square Enix's E3 2013 Lineup Revealed!

With this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo less than two weeks away, it's about time for Square Enix's long-awaited lineup to be revealed! This year will certainly be one to remember, and they are going all out in making sure of that. E3 Insider has updated their website with a list of titles that that will be shown off at their booth, some of which you may have been expecting! No doubt there are many more lying in the wait, but for now we can expect the following:
- KINGDOM HEARTS -HD 1.5 ReMIX- [PS3]
- FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn [PC, PS3]
- Lightning Returns: FINAL FANTASY XIII [PS3, Xbox 360]
- FINAL FANTASY X|X-2 HD Remaster [PS Vita, PS3]
- Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Director's Cut [Wii U]
- THIEF [PC, PS4, Xbox One]

At least Thief is something new (sort of). My inner rogue will be watching.
Hopefully with some gameplay. Doesn't even have to be a live demo. Just some proof it plays.

They definitely have surprises.
There is the Final Fantasy game for PS4...and maybe we'll see the sleeping prince awaken. BDFF isn't there, which is odd since it's coming out later this year so I'd imagine that Nintendo and SE would be promoting it.

I don't think Square has said yet that KH 1.5 is going to be on Square Enix Presents though. However, I would be surprised if it wasn't on the show at some point.

I am pretty exited for Thief actually. I hope they finally announce FF13- Versus; then maybe Nomura would stop being bi-polar about working on it and move onto KH3!

Nomura's never been bi-polar about working on Versus, though. He's been working on the game to the fullest of his ability. Internal and extraneous circumstances have kept him from being able to say anything about the game; things that would probably get Nomura in big trouble if he didn't follow them.

Definitely. I'd love to be able to play this game during the winter season when it's too cold to go outside.

Personally, I'm excited to see the two hd collections and LR. Maybe FFXIV, but I'm not a huge mmorpg player.

Awesome lineup, super excited to see 1.5 gameplay in English. Also, am I the only one that thought the link to FFX/X-2 looked like FFXIX-2. I was extremely confused.

i won't.
after all, ff9 was originally gonna be a side title and that got full main-entry status. because of this, it wouldn't be surprising if versus 13 became 15
and plus, this would all fit with the pattern of 3 main games per system (not counting other titles)
nes/fc - ff1-3
snes/sfc - ff4-6
ps1 - ff7-9
ps2 - ff10-12
ps3 - ff13-15?
(see, it would also mean versus stays on ps3 :D)

Thief seems pretty cool. I'm really looking forward to FFX/X-2 Remaster and KH 1.5. I'm not getting my hopes up for Versus 13 though. It would be awesome if it was announced as FFXV but I'm doubting it at this point.

I wouldn't be surprised if Square Enix pulls an Iwata and says: by the way we have one more anouncement to make. And Versus is shown in some form.
It's now or never. SE needs to prove it to their shareholders, their fans, and the overall audience that they can commit to their promises since they have a new CEO and president now. Not revealing Versus at E3 might as well be them sawing their head off.

Also, I'm surprised That there still banking on lightning to save them, and will be even more surprised if that's the big thing of E3. If Versus is not shown at E3, it might as well be cancelled considering how the shareholders will react.

Considering that the original XIII, for all the (perceived) shortcomings, had a relatively sound ending that tied up most plot points, the strategy they have behind it isn't that clear.
Although I do admit that I find the obnoxious bashing of the Lightning-games, especially on the net, going way out of hand and blowing things out of proportions, it is nothing new in the FF fandom that the newest title always is "the worst one" until the next comes out.
Blaming the Lightning-games for anything regarding Versus is bullshit though, as these games have no hand in all the problems that are/were faced with Versus and are not even done by the same dev team.
My cousin (not a ff fan) even asked me once if FF fans are sexist because of the many hate directed towards Lightning and her games while Versus has a male protagonist and is put on a pedestal, which if of course also way out of context.
Square's biggest mishap was definitely that they even announced Versus so early. They would have done better just keeping their mouth shut until there is really something to show.

The real question here is... Did Nomura tell people to "Please look forward to it" upon the initial Versus reveal?

I remember reading a preview of final fantasy XIII, type 0 (when it was known as agito XIII) and Versus XIII in 2006, where they said it would be released 2009 at the earliest.
The HD remasters are at least going to give Square some more money to work with as they are made with as little cost as possible, so they can at least help their finances if not their reputation.

1: I agree that HD remasters are good way to make a quick buck.
2: I think most fans of XIII would have been happy if there was no sequel. You should've seen how pissed people were at XIII-2's ending.
3: The Lightning games are easy scapegoats for fans.
4: I'd hardly call them sexist considering a lot of the "haters" love VI and Terra.

I agree. Despite how I felt about ff13, i thought the ending wrapped up things pretty decently. The sequel was totally unnecessary

I'm excited for most of the final fantasy games, cause a remaster of FFX/X-2 is something I kind of hoped for and happy to see it being brought back for the ps3. C:
But, how much longer could we possible have to wait for Versus? DX
I don't know what Thief is. Is it like Assassins Creed or is it better than that? [Never heard of it before till now.]

I'm most looking forward to Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster, and Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMix. Will likely purchase all three in the future.

Exactly what I was thinking.
You never know for sure what numbers to expect unless the biggest one is said. That's why I never trust "starting at" pricing in ads, and it's exactly why one could say square wasn't lying when they said 2009 at the earliest.
Still, I don't think they expected things to turn out this way.

That's assuming that nomura still hasnt gone ahead with production on KH3 with the team that has done 3 games at least already and is still wanting to go with the team that did 2.

It would be fairly easy most likely =/ I mean I don't know about you but I have seen this kind of thing before all too many times and unfortunately just because we are so close to such important dates does not give this kind of thing anymore credibility. Though still seeing this did make me jump....just a little. (comeonsquare!)

Color palette also looks way to similar to KH2 and each title has a different color and style to it. Makes me wonder what they'll go for in KH3, going down Power Ranger colors maybe green?

I'm kind of hoping for some kind of announcement of KH3 soon, however optimistic that might sound D:
Like one of those really early concept trailers, like what they did for KH3D in 2010, where the trailer presented the game in a very early concept stage.

It's sort of depressing that I'm only interested in Thief and I don't even consider that a real Square-Enix game. I would like to see some screenshots of Kingdom Hearts in HD, however.

We have a ton of them on the site right now...not in English but they give you a good idea of what they aimed for in the collection.
