To follow up on yesterday's spread from the latest issue of Famitsu Weekly, Square Enix has uploaded a batch of 17 high quality screenshots featuring the cinematic cutscenes of Kingdom Hearts Re:coded. You can view all of them below and in our gallery.
Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX will be released on December 2 in North America and December 5 in Europe. You can preorder the limited edition that comes with an official Disney Trading Pin at the online Square Enix store and Amazon.

Man, Roxas is badass looking when he's pissed
It saddens me that some of the scenes still use the default faces instead of cutscene expressions, from the looks of it. I guess it's fine, still heavily looking forward to this.
Can't wait for that scene near the end where Namine explains about the "hurt" and the people who need saving. I got the gist of that scene when I played Re:coded, but to this day I'm still a bit confused. Hopefully, now that it's getting a full cutscene, it'll be easier to follow.
This is gonna be awesome! Hopefully it's a lot more like a movie than Days was. I could use me a Coded movie!
I always thought of Data Sora as his own character, too. I feel like he shares Sora's personality and face, but makes decisions and acts slightly different. But they're both VERY accepting of crazy situations, that's for sure!

Namine came across Ven's memories in Sora's heart during the reconstruction and it made her realize that Sora's heart connected to people in a closer way than she realized and that those people, (Roxas, Xion, Axel, Aqua, Terra, and Ventus...and ultimately herself) All had to make sacrifices to ensure that Sora was exactly who he is and Namine didn't want it to be in vain, if there was a way to undo all the hurt Namine caused, letting Sora in on everyone connected to him was doing that tenfold.

And once the journal is complete, they get to the end and find Namine's message and then she tells them that said memories of pain she found are inside of the real Sora's heart and that he has to awaken said memories in order to save them. However, if he does this without preparation, it could essentially kill him, due to the pain.
And that's where I get stuck. Data Sora learned how to deal with "hurt", not the real Sora. So, how is real Sora going to call those memories to the surface if Data Sora is the one who learned how to handle those memories? I mean, I get that the point of Re:coded was to restore the Journal, which they did, so it wasn't all in vain. But still. That message was intended so that Sora would learn how to handle hurt and save all those people. But Data Sora learned it, not real Sora. So, how exactly does that work?

It was the goal that Mickey would tell the real Sora about what happened. Namine says so herself "pass along the things that you've seen and that you've felt."

Ah, yes. I always forget about the fact that Re:coded is the cause of Mickey's letter to Sora, and about that one scene in DDD.

I guess I misread some of the faces, because this list doesn't seem all so bad. For example, Sora's mouth looks a little weird in the Herc + Cloud screen. Could always be my Terrable computer screen.

Yup! Trust me: My device has excellent zoom-in! Axel just seems a little fuzzy (probly all that white fluff everywhere), but I can see him having a "Nice" face.

Those new data doors are really awesome. They really stepped up their game with this movie. I only wish Days had gotten a treatment like this from the start, but Re:coded deserves it regardless. It's the most neglected of the KH entries, despite how important it is to the story.

I'm still frowning internally that the fight between Roxas and Saix was removed from Days, and that there was absolutely no transition from Xion's final battle scene to her death scene. Even if that battle between Roxas and Xion had been the only actual battle in the scenes, it would have been worth it.

It was my FAVORITE part of Days. I loved trying to escape TWTNW as Roxas and that fight was the most fun I had during the entire game. Ugh.

Me too! The escape from the tower was the most adrenaline filled part of the game and yet in the movie he just kinda... walks off. I almost wish they'd go back and re-do the Days movie, but that's asking far too much, considering the work they've already put in to bring us these collections anyway.

Same with DDD too. If only the KH fanbase weren't a bunch of impatient whiners (myself included :P).
I like KHI because I feel as though a lot of us share the same sentiments about KH3, lol.
And by that, you mean that if Square were to say "Kingdom Hearts III in 2018" we'd say "Okay cool. Take your time"? Cause as far as I'm concerned, KH3 can take as long as it needs.
Exactly. We've seen how KH3 has negatively affected other games in the series, which makes me fear for KH3 itself.
I'm not too worried. The casual fanbase might be airheaded, but Nomura is smart. He and the team will deliver for sure. I have yet to play a KH game that I wouldn't give a 10 and even the little we've seen of KH3 looks really promising.

I love this community. Anywhere else I see KH, Re:coded usually gets turned down because it doesn't add anything, so it's always a joy seeing one of my favorite games in the series not get bashed. Heck, I've seen people say it's exactly like KH1, which I don't even understand :/

Oh god, even DDD... I didn't think it was THAT bad. I mean, I guess CoM and coded are understandable, but DDD, that's just disgusting.
Actually, I think I've seen a similar comment, I had the same reaction. Oh well, I guess.
I love Re:Coded! Sure, the game play itself is not as fun on the DS, and it can be hard on the control pad in the long run, but Days was the same way. My favorite gameplay-wise HAS to be 3D. It actually probably my favorite, though I couldn't tell you WHY exactly ^_^'
Overall, my favorites are 1, 2, and BBS. But, I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy the heck out of Re:coded. The gameplay was incredible. It was just a ton of fun. And the soundtrack added to it too. And omg that final boss was insanely hard, as it should be. KH games are more satisfying when they're difficult. Hence why BBS is so much fun. That Terra-Xehanort fight on critical mode is going to be the death of me when 2.5 is released. I could barely pull it off on Proud mode -.-

But the main point of coded gets picked up again at the end of DDD, which makes the whole game a bit pointless in my opinion even if I really liked the gameplay. I'm really hoping some of the story's odd bits get ironed out in the movie (e.g. Pete & Maleficent).

Nope. Goofy's pants are yellow, and - as you can see - floating in midair. But then again, were talkin GOOFY, here. This seems like a tense situation, so they're probly there for comic relief and a bit of "Aww, we'll get you out!"

With battle scenes added it will be more intense to watch. My favorite screen shot is Sora, Donald, Goofy, and Mickey together.
I'm curious to see just how much they improved over the Days theater mode from 1.5. The ending shots with the "hurting" individuals that I've seen look really good.

I believe it's from the ending of Re:coded where Data-Namine shows Data-Sora and Mickey the people the real Sora needs to save.

What made me a little upset was when they would cut the fighting scenes that were supposed to occur in Days. Oh yeah, I guess people would be unaware of that. Personally, I was disappointed that the scene where Xion says "Roxas, that's a stick." wasn't in there.

A player could simply skip over it but they would be missing out. At times the gameplay did get rather annoying but the story, just like Chain of Memories, was really good. It actually might help ti understand if Mickey ever explains to Sora what he went through. Pete and Maleficent were even after the data in DDD.
what KH sometimes lacks in gameplay always makes up for it in storyline. with that said never automatically judge a game based on that critiria without giving it a chance.
I see where your coming from. For a person that likes gameplay Kingdom Hearts can easily be called a movie more than a game. I think that he should try and balance it out just a little bit more to make more gamers happy.
Exactly! you gotta have a equal amt. of gameplay and storyline. One cant be way better than the other because then it will make the other one look bad. for example if storylines too good people will focus on how the gameplays not so great.
I always tend to meet fans that want too much gameplay or too much story. But honestly I think Kingdom Hearts would benefit as a whole it was more balanced instead if there being a cutscene every 5 minutes. Even though I say that I like Re:Coded I wouldn't want to play it again and I am glad that it's just cutscenes! XD

This thread is about the scans, particularly. I myself am guilty of getting off topic, but don't make a conversation about it.
That being said...I wonder if - when more shots come out - they'll do more false advertising? I can't be the only one who noticed that some of the supposed "HD" shots from the previous game's release were misleading. These had better all be in my game, or ill be upset all over again!

I hear people mention that quite a bit, but I never took much notice of it. Then again, I didn't spend much time on Days. Given that there's supposed to be general improvements to the cinematics, we can hope true HD is one of them.

The engine they use for the KH series doesn't utilize any anti-aliasing, whereas the press assets they release on the other hand have AA to spare. It's definitely a little out of the ordinary.

@MyNameisAnsem: Yeah, there's several videos on YouTube that show you the screenshots and such side-by-side. It was odd and frustrated quite a few people. For those that didn't mind as much, it was just about WHY they chose to be misleading.

We don't currently know. We just know Maleficent has had an interest and plan for them since coded.

I love the way Data Sora kindve stands apart from regular Sora. There's just...SOMETHING about his personality that I feel slightly differed. I just can't wait to watch this stuff!

These screenshots look so much more amazing than 1.5 and 1.5 already looked incredible! And I can't wait to see the additional scenes added to Re:Coded!
it does but there where some pictures posted earlier with their faces how it looked a little blah then the other one with roxas and sora. what do you guys think? should they continue to upgrade the graphics to make it sexy awesome or should they keep it how it is now. dont get me wrong i love the graphics but i also hope it wont lack in some ways.

The great thing about Kingdom Hearts is that it has a really strong graphic style and scales up and down amazingly well. It doesn't need to emulate realism.

So basically you would just prefer that they use higher poly models from now on. It was originally a graphical limitation, and as you may have noticed from Birth by Sleep and 3D, they've stopped using them as often and have been putting in a lot of effort to properly animate the facial expressions as often as possible.

Yeah, even when they changed the way the mouths moved in the default expressions of BbS, it was a step in the right direction!

Not necessarily. Being a fan of something allows you to see its faults. There isn't anything wrong with disliking the fish faces and thinking that they're odd. Because they ARE.
So dislike them to your heart's content! In KH3, they should be a thing of the past~ Might as well get a laugh about it, now.

Wow, so I took a look at these screenshots again earlier today, and this game (movie, whatever) is looking freaking GOOD! I hope this isn't one of those situations where the screens look phenomenal and then it turns out they were just messed with and the actual game is more "meh"

well square enix has said that they would improve the hd graphics for the new kingdom hearts 2.5 game. and that they saw how dissapointed most of us were when they slacked off in some of the parts of the game. so they will do what they said. because if not then they are lying and they also want to keep their fans. and keep them interested

I really don;t care about the 'fish face', I didn't think that was a thing until I got into the series and BBS where it was what everyone pointed to.

I love the way Data Sora kindve stands apart from regular Sora. There's just...SOMETHING about his personality that I feel slightly differed. I just can't wait to watch this stuff!

While there shouldn't be any fish faces in KH3 I would actually like there to be 1 in the game just so that we can laugh about.

There will be absolutely no excuse for fish face in KH3. Did I expect them to get rid of all of them in the HD Collection? No. Was I expecting an improvement? Well yeah, they showed us improved screenshots.
I'm hoping that any new cutscenes they make for Coded will just avoid Fish Face since they are really shooting for a good quality cinematic experience here.

in a way it is, and those that are not hard core fans would take this news really badly and possibly not buy the game at all! If they say its going to look a certain way in the game, then that is how it should look.
There won't be fish face in KH3 lol. They've done amazing advancements over the years. I'm still so surprised that Birth by Sleep was fully voiced, excluding talking to characters outside of cutscenes. I wasn't expecting that, and I was glad it continued into Dream Drop Distance.

As for the fish face in III thing. Well, we kind of already have the answer. Sora, Donald, and Goofy's models while in battle would be the less dynamic versions of their facial animations. So, the closest we'll get to fish faces in this game should look like these:
