Kingdom Hearts -HD 1.5 ReMIX- is now one of PS3's Greatest Hits

Haven't yet purchased Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX? Square Enix and Disney definitely want to change that, now that it's available as one of PS3's Greatest Hits for $19.99.

The HD collection, containing remastered versions of Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix and Re:Chain of Memories, along with cinematics from 358/2 Days, was released last year and clearly sold well enough to warrant a stamp as one of the PS3's best.

If you still haven't given it a go, then now's as good a time as any as Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX, the second HD collection, releases in December for North America and Europe on the PS3.

If you'd like to get the Japanese version next month, you should check out this article where we have compiled a list of websites where you can order the game.

Awesome! Not too surprising, of course, but still awesome. I may just have to pick this up... Even though I own all of the games, part of me has always wanted to own them with that label on the front, so we'll see.

That's awesome! The series has still got it!

I WOULD buy this if I could (especially considering I want an actual case instead of the artbook/case hybrid), but I can't afford it with 2.5 coming.

What does it take for a game to receive the "Greatest Hits" label?

For a PS3 game, it needs to have been on the market for at least 10 months and it has to sell 500.000 copies or more.

The weirdest thing is that I was in a Gamestop just 2 days ago and the copies there weren't labeled with the Greatest Hits moniker. Granted, I preordered it months in advance, so I already had it at launch, but it was notable since I hadn't found any copies new or used since the launch date.

Anyway, that's cool that it is a Greatest Hits now. The game really does deserve it.

Also, it's nice to see that they still have the red label instead of that oh-so-lovely green label that was on the old PSX titles. My copies of Final Fantasies VII and IX have that sick green color...

Great, now I have to decide whether to get KH2.5 as soon as it drops so I can play it over Christmas break, or wait for a couple months and get it at half the price

Well, stores have to sell their stock of the older prints first before they will get the new ones with the red label.

I mean $39.99 is already a REALLY low price for two full games and 2 hours of new story content via Re:coded.

If 1.5 is a hit, imagine how big 2.5 will be! :D

Oh god...I just saw that for Metal Gear Solid 4. That looks awful...

Anyway, to quote The Great Clement, "But I digress." I think Kingdom Hearts I.5 ReMIX managing to be part of the Greatest Hits library is awesome. II.5 ReMIX is most likely going to make that, too considering its lineup of games.

I agree, and I hope they get to reach as many people as possible with these games. Making already cheap HD collections even cheaper and more accessible is nothing but good news.

Still haven't picked up an English copy of the game. Perhaps I'll import a Greatest Hits-edition when it's time, unless I feel like having the normal edition. Platinum looks pretty bad.

It's just kind of tedious, though certainly not as bad as it could have been.

The fact that you have to play the games on every difficulty instead of just getting the trophies for the lower ones when finish Proud is stupid though.

Better than the PSP Essentials.

I don't think 2.5 has better games, but I think it'll sell more because KH2 and BbS are more recent games with nicer graphics.

See, I was wondering about this myself. Yes, they have better graphics, but they're also more recent, so less people will have need of copies, whereas 1.5 had Re:CoM, which was scarce in NA and absent in Europe, and KH1, which some folks might have never played, or could easily have misplaced or sold over the course of ten years.

Could go either way, could go both ways and even out.

Most people will have sold both their copies of KH2 and BBS by now, and BBS was also released when the PSP was already failing in the west.

Personally, I don't doubt that 2.5 will be the more successful of the two, especially when its two playable titles are often regarded as the very best in the series.

I don't think there should be any doubt towards 2.5 making the Greatest Hits, nor it outselling 1.5. For the casual fanbade that has pretty much been out of the loop/waiting only for KH3, I'm sure they'll be buying this one because it has KH2.

Besides, while I know it is debatable, I think 2.5 is the better of the collections. 2FM is practically like a whole new game conpared to the original, BbS is one of the bigger fan favorites (and FM allows you to beat up Monstro, which is everybody's dream), and Re:coded is going to be an actual movie, unlike Days. Although I still wish it had been redone for the Remaster as a game buttt I can live with it as a movie.

I mean, if Mirage Arena still retained multiplayer, I'm sure that would have probably caused fir bigger sales, but alas that is not the case. Still, compared to 2.5, 1.5 isn't as glorious (although it's still amazing), so really, 2.5 will more than likely be much more popular/a bigger saler.

Hopefully there is a special bonus with buying 2.5 like the little book we got with the 1.5 remix. Though it wasn't much I still liked it a lot.

The artbook was included in the Limited Edition of 1.5, the Limited Edition for 2.5 includes a pin instead.

Unfortunately that's how it is and how it's going to be. As far as I can recall, there are currently no plans to make 1.5 and 2.5 available for the PS4 either, so we'll have to roll with it.

Unless you tape a PS3 to it.
...I wonder how hard would it be for Sony to make a PS3/PS4 combo system?

I remember when I first bought Kingdom Hearts. I was in 8th grade nearing my birthday and I was recommended to get Kingdom Hearts because my friend knew how much I enjoyed Final Fantasy. When I bought it was already "Greatest Hits," best decision moment of my video game career.

I thought I heard that there were talks of making newer models have backwards compatibility. That being said, I would not be surprised if they were literally rumors.

I have to agree that it deserves it, Kingdom Hearts Final Mix was great with all of the original content and a bunch of extras made it worth playing again and again
