Going to try to make it down.

If we are partying with Radio Disney, THEY MUST PLAY "BACK TOGETHER" BY JESSE MCCARTNEY OR I WILL BE SAD ;A;

and why not have some Jesse playing during the event? Aside from potential clearance issues and whatnot, it's more or less KH related and can even be vaguely tied to Roxas, Xion, and Axel/Lea.

Er...Jesse's latest stuff is more on the sexual side. That is nothing they could play on Radio Disney. "Back Together" is strangely less sexual than most of his other songs xD

He's singing about she wants the d in that song.

SE and Disney have stronger ties in California, and both the SENA offices and Walt Disney Studios are located in the LA area as well.

I know, I was just really hoping to go to an event, and if it was going to be in USA, but outside of CA, isnt Disney World in FL one of the top choices?

I'm glad the west coast is finally getting some KH love. Ironically, I just said recently that perhaps a KH event would take place on Disney property in the EU Launch thread...I would love a NY event but we did get 2 launch parties already (even if they weren't initiated by SE, it's still an official KH event and these launch releases are largely the same thing):

- early access to purchase the game
- photobooth
- raffle or some chance to win something signed by Nomura (DDD didn't have it but Re:Coded did)
- demo the game

Sign

Okay, I'm going to admit...this really got to me, in a bad way lol Besides Kingdom Hearts merchandise, I also sometimes collect Disney pins and I have made a habit to collect every Kingdom Hearts pin out there. The fact that they are explicitly stating pins with a plural makes me believe that, even if they don't have a pin signed by Nomura (since something tells me they won't have all those things signed by Nomura, only maybe 2 or 3 pieces of stuff) that they might release an exclusive pin there.

Okay, selfless self promotion time, if anyone is attending the event and they release a pin there (a new one I mean that is up for purchase or given out for free...but I doubt it'll be given out for free if so), can you please pick me up one? I'd be able to pay you back of course, I just really don't want to find out that it was released, sold out, and then I have to fork out 5x the price on eBay to people who buy it just for a profit. :( I also want a poster but from what I understand that's only for the first few people so that might be limited to 1 per person and then I cannot expect anyone to give away their only one...if you can get an extra though that'd be great ^_^

rjk42
I know, I was just really hoping to go to an event, and if it was going to be in USA, but outside of CA, isnt Disney World in FL one of the top choices?

Disney World is also a top choice no doubt, but as Spock said, Disneyland is just way to perfect given both Disney and SE's main headquarters are in CA and Disneyland is still a great place to be.

No, actually. In number of songs people listen to in an average year, I'm really in the shallow end of that pool. But I usually like what I hear.

Though I'm not surprised his newer stuff is on the sexual side.

Either way, I live in Wisconsin so my only real chance to attend any event would be if it were held in Chicago, which is at least 4 hours for me.

Don't feel bad for being able to go! There will always be events like these where fans are unable to go to them...Can't please everybody. The world is too big for it :c

I agree, they don't acknowledge KH at Disneyland Resort besides selling two pins (which I'm not even sure are there anymore??) so it's cool that they're actually having an entire event here. Maybe if the attendance and reception is good, it could open up doors for more things at the resorts.

Those 2 pins are no longer at Disneyland but for good reason. It means that they sold out and were successful in what they were meant to see. The first pin was limited edition 500 I believe, which means only 500 of it exist and they sold out in less than one day. Disney watches EVERYTHING that goes on in their parks and I mean EVERYTHING.

The first pin being such a success lead them to release the second one which one Open Edition, which means it would be infinitely for a short period of time. Of course, since it was made infinitely, it couldn't be completely sold out, but from what I heard from many of the cast members at Disneyland (and Disneyworld since it was sold there as well) Disney wanted to see if it would consistently sell out even if they made a lot of them (to make sure that there wasn't just a dedicated small group of fans buying out everything). I don't know since I'm not located there, but from what I heard, the pin did sell very well (and still might be selling I'm not sure).

No doubt Disney will be monitoring this event to see the turnout. They are slowly accepting KH back onto their property and I have been waiting a long time for them to do something like this, BUT it isn't in the parks just yet. From the workers that I talk to, the leap from Downtown Disney into the parks is a big step for Disney because in order to get into the parks, they have to make sure people would be willing to pay to get into the event by buying a park ticket (which means that no doubt the event would be much bigger since Disney never goes small when it comes to something in the parks). I can't wait to see what happens at this event and I'm really nervous about a potential pin release x_X

Just a thought but you can buy this really cheap stuff at any arts and craft store really where you print something out on your printer and then you can iron it onto your shirt. Maybe you guys could iron on something like "KHInsider Staff" with your username under it? You are definitely old enough to drive. 15 1/2 is what I remember the age requirement to be to get your permit and 16 to get your license.

You shouldn't drive 6 hours to Anaheim, though xD

If you really do want to go and have guardian permission, there are Greyhound busses, the train (which is tiring), or flying.

You will never find me in a t-shirt for one thing and I'm not about to buy a cute shirt to patch KHI on it with an iron on pattern.

Also honestly it is too short notice for something like that. We are thinking about staff shirts for ourselves when events like this happen. I think I'd rather a nice hoodie or jacket, myself.

It is really short notice, that's why I thought about the irons since I really couldn't think of anything else that could be done in less than a week's time :(

I hoodie or jacket would be cool though, I think it'd be even cooler if you guys designed them after the Org. coats like ThinkGeek had once but I have a feeling there will be a LOT of cosplayers so an Org. hoodie might get lost among them. When in doubt, you can also have ballons tied to a backpack or purse that fly ostentatiously above you so that everybody just stares at you guys haha xD If there were enough time, you could probably commission Sign (if she wanted to) to make a super awesome papercraft that you all could carry around but once again, time is too short :(

Write 'WE'RE ON THAT ONE WEBSITE' on binder paper. Tape it to your backs. You'll definitely get noticed this way, lol Or go buy lame blank white shirts at a dollar store and draw an intentionally ugly Sora on it.

Also it sucks the pins might not be there. I remember seeing them once years ago, but since we were stretching our money enough just being there, my mom wouldn't let me buy them. Told her I'd never see them again, she should have listenedddd

Considering all the fans in the LA area who are able to attend, I don't think color-coordinating is going to help much. (I'd personally be a little embarrassed to move around as a colored blob.)

No to the sign xD I don't think anyone would like having to lug around one that would be visible enough for 6 hours.

If only you had more time. Despite Disney Parks always being crowded, I think coordinating outfits would actually be a great way of keeping track of the group.

When in doubt...STROBE LIGHTS! jk I really don't know how to set yourselves apart then. Color coordination won't work since there will definitely be multiple people with the same color. The only thing I can think of is honestly somehow having a sign on your clothes, bags, or somewhere visible that states you guys are from KHi. You don't need something to stand out then again lol You guys already know what each other look like so maybe you could just take a photo of all of you at the event (when you guys get there), post it here, and people who see it can seek you out ^_^

Pssst, meet outside Wonderground lol That place has the most amazing art I've ever seen (in terms of Disney-related art)...well, depends on where in Downtown Disney exactly the event is located but if it's by there...THAT PLACE IS TOTALLY WICKED!!!!

IDK, I think it's a pretty smart suggestion that Ethy said about waiting in one spot. Nobody says you guys would have to spend the whole day there. Just maybe 30 minutes or so before the event starts anyways after you tweet it out and once you guys have a big group, it shouldn't be too hard for others to see a large group...

It's up to you guys though in the end.

In total, looks like the poster, a tote bag, a shirt, the pin of the logo, and some postcards and stickers. So far this is the only content they've advertised, and only those who purchase the game at the event will be eligible to win the non-posters and pins. I felt like that until last month. I would buy collector's editions and have to get the pre-order bonus on everything. Then I realized I was spending 5 times the price of what things normally cost. Sidenote:I have every original naruto manga and barely cracked the first book open. Yeah, that's one of the weird things about collecting stuff. You spend a ton of money on it and usually, it just sits there. But there are plenty of people (like me) who have no problem with it. Even if it means spending money on stuff that you know will spend the majority of its lifetime being admired on a shelf for seemingly no purpose.

Well, not every physical purchase needs to be collector's editions with awesome extras. I find just the feeling of having the disc is good enough, and since I don't make many physical game purchases anyway(there are interesting digital games though), it's easy for me to wait for a price drop unless i really, really want said game. Also, used stores and amazon can be great.

Yeah I know what you mean. I just remember one of the reasons I finally bought a digital game; it seems like you can use it on next gen because they said although ps4 & xbox one are not backwards compatible through the disk drive they probably will through emulation. Also, this wouldn't happen to me, it is nice because you can't lose it like a disk. I think subconsciously I wasn't frustrated about not getting a disk is because my xbox 360 shredded at least 4 of my games and took forever to actually play them.

Oh and if by digital games being interesting you meant psn only games I agree. I've be playing

Tokyo Jungle

which is pretty fun. I shouls probably play journey though

Luckily, KH merchandise never skyrockets in price. I would be nervous about the pin though, KH pins tend to go fairly high with the Sora Chair Hot Topic pin going for $180 in the past alone. Thankfully, with an Limited Edition 2000 size, the pin at most will go for $30 I'm guessing.

Yeah, I doubt Nomura signed 2000 pins lol but the shirt and bag would make sense. I know at the DDD event you had to show your receipt to be entered into a raffle to get the shirt so I'm guessing it's the same thing. Okay, so I have friend attending the event, do you think it'd be smart to have them buy a copy there and then try for the shirt and bag but then I'll get the game late since they'd mail it tomorrow (and it wouldn't get here in 2 days) or would it be worth it to just not get the shirt and tote (unless I go through eBay but I have to save my money for something else at the moment <_<)...

Honestly, what I'd love to know is how they got Nomura to sign all of this stuff.

Same here, but something tells me he only signed 2 or 3 things and they'll make everyone enter a raffle and they won't actually have the signed things there, that's how the Re:Coded thing worked. You entered at the event but they e-mailed the winners about a month afterwards.

If they're expecting at least 2000 people to show, the chance of winning anything is very slim. Since you are saving your money for something else, I think it would be a better decision to do that instead. At the end of the day even if you are lucky to win those items, it is a plain white shirt with the logo and the name of the event (this is a lame design why did we not get the same one from the London pre-launch) + a tote bag that you probably wouldn't even use.

6 pins? Say what? I thought there only two. One that had the Door to Darkness and one with Mickey in his Organization robe. What are the other four?

They were the 4 Hot Topic pins released years ago. The Sora Chair pin in specific is the most wanted KH pin out there right now. There is one up on eBay for auction now but it's already over $100 just for the pin (it isn't even mint condition on card O_o).

AHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is so bad lol because I want that poster SO BAD! My friend sent me a picture of the pin but I cannot find it right now, it is literally the logo of the game and the card is the cover art xP

I hope so too ^_^

So I do have some friends attending the event right now and they are keeping me updated. Some of them are already in, some are still outside. Here's what they pretty much sent me so far:

- Earliest people arrived at 3-5am.
- There were over 3000 people in line before the event even started
- The pin is LE2000
- The poster is LE8000
- Some people are walking out with up to 10 posters (nobody is monitoring the poster station or weren't at the time)
- They are almost out of the game and you do need to buy the game to enter the raffle for the autographed Nomura stuff

No word on the shirt or tote bag yet. I'm so nervous about the pin, one of my friends is inside but only got 1 pin and I really want that pin (being a pin collector and all) so I'm so out of my mind right now haha xD

Well that's much cooler than the mural I thought it would be ^_^ Curious what the cool prize is, bet something signed by Nomura :)

EDIT: So it appears winners of something receive a lithograph, not signed by Nomura, just the lithograph of SDG in the chair. I'm guessing that is if you find the gold Mickey symbol on the mural???

Well, I just got the worst news of the month (given it's been only a week xP) so far...pins are out and nobody who was there was able to get me one. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't completely heartbroken. I cannot blame them, I heard horror stories from D23 at the Anaheim Convention Center this year and I really do hope that they do another event like this for 2.5 next year, but I'll be darned if they didn't do a terrible job of hiring some employees this year. They need to fix that for next year...

I'm sure you don't want to resort to this, but there's probably someone on eBay selling two or three for like $85 or more.

EDIT: As a matter of fact, there's already two of them on eBay. One going for $40 bid-only and another for $120 buy-it-now.

There's also already three event posters up ranging from $30-80. God, people are greedy.

haha yup, I'm already watching them both. I know I spend a lot of money on KH stuff, but there is no way I'd spend anywhere near $100 on the pin <_< As for the $40, I'm thinking about it, but I'm really trying to save my money for something next month and I'd be lying if $40 wasn't a lot (it's the cost of the game itself) so I'm quite torn :( and it's $40 IF nobody bids on it...nevermind, I just checked and somebody bid on it. That pretty much sets the price at $40 which is a lot of money >_<

I'm just getting back from it. The wait was the more horrid thing, and we ended up being in line for nearly 4 hours. We barely got lucky enough to be the 2000 for the pins (I was 1,960-something) They had at least 4000 posters even after the 2,000 got in. Ufortunately by the time I got in, nearly everything was done. Mural was done and gone, contests were done... But I got the poster AND THE PIN THANK GOODNESS and spent alot of time with alot of really cute, really fun fans. We spent alot of time debating about Xion, fawning over favorites and ... tripping each other from the back of our knees ??? lol

also alot of people streetpassing each other, screaming and playing 3ds games .. i wasnt part of that though

ALSO THE POSTER IS GOREGOUS IF YOU ARE IN THE AREA AND CAN MAKE IT THEY HAVE LITERALLY THOUSANDS LEFT??? grab extras when they arent looking, they arent paying attention anymore lolol

Agreed....

I was there for 4 hours and didn't even get to go inside, buuuut I guess that's my falt for underestimating how dedicated people would be. It was lame how I saw at least 10 people cut the line just from where I was, it wasn't even a my friends were holding my place situation, and it sucks I didn't even get to go in. I wish I could have talked to someone but most people went in groups and I thought I could just go by myself. So I just stood around for 4 hours to just go home later. I did get a poster atleast. It wasn't an enjoyable experience for me I hope someone else had more fun than me though, as I'm sure someone did.

I was surprised there was so much of that for a kh event I just wanted to say something cheezy like, "that wouldn't be in the spirit of kingdom hearts" lol. I have to admit the real fans of kh are a little less humble/innocent/nice than I had first anticipated.

Oh and also a little greedy apparently with the repeated pin snatching and obsessive poster hoarding. I saw some guy with 10 of them which I would assume is past the amount where you can say "I'm just holding it for a friend" or "these are for my other friends/family/idk my pet". There are just paper in the long-run even if they do have something beautiful printed on them.

Oh and also, I found this out as I was leaving, I wonder why they, kh staff, kept so many because they said they needed to keep this huge stack, which I'm sure wasn't all of them. Just wondering.

Apparently they want to give them out at another event...I'm not sure why considering all of these posters say "9/8/13 Downtown Disney" so at any other event, it will be clearly recycled :c

I think it is more disgusting that people are trying to sell these posters. And a lot of the people who were double-dipping the pins were pin traders or people who sell them $100-200 a pop on eBay.

And I wouldn't have been entered in the raffle because I already pre-ordered the LE. Even just getting a poster wouldn't have been worth it, because I would have traveled so far just for that one thing. The pictures everyone took are good enough for me.

I actually went to the event for my son who had to work. I arrived at 0600 and there were maybe 150 people ahead of me. I did get a pin and 1 poster. In the beginning at least they were strict about only 1 poster per person and 1 pin per person. I have been to "launches" before at the Irvine Spectrum put on by Blizzard (World of Warcraft, Diablo, and Starcraft) and have to say I was very disappointed by this launch. Square Enix KNEW how many people were coming (which is why they moved it to the Marriott) so why did they not have enough games or cash registers. They knew there was going to be over 2000 people and yet only 2 cash registers. Also, I read where getting the poster and pin was contingent on buying the game but this was not so. Lady in front of me had 3 kids and all 4 of them got pins and posters even though they only bought one game. If Square Enix plans on doing another "launch" maybe they can contact Blizzard and they can give them some pointers. In addition, since I was one of the 1st 150 people in I can tell you I would be surprised if they had more than 50 t-shirts that they were giving away, never saw the backpacks.

Perhaps it will encourage them to try harder for the 2.5 launch event. I'm sure even more people will go to that one, what with 2.5 having Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix attached to it.

The change was still rather sudden to begin with. I'm not sure who and where they got the equipment from, but this stuff was probably planned out before they realized 2000+ people were going to attend and hardly anticipated such a huge crowd.

They had at least about 1000 copies of the game, which was way more than I think anybody expected them to have. At their last launch event at Nintendo World for KH3D, there were only 50 Mark of Mastery Editions on sale. This was a lot better than that.

Also, I read where getting the poster and pin was contingent on buying the game but this was not so. Lady in front of me had 3 kids and all 4 of them got pins and posters even though they only bought one game.

They never said you had to buy the game to get a poster and pin. They said the first 2000 people in attendance would get pins. Not that they had to buy the game before getting it, but physically being at the event itself.

In addition, since I was one of the 1st 150 people in I can tell you I would be surprised if they had more than 50 t-shirts that they were giving away, never saw the backpacks.

There were never any backpacks promised to be given.

I do think they could do a lot better with events, but this is fairly new for the NA branch to begin with. This was pretty much a trial run to see how they could improve and next time they will probably anticipate these kinds of things better.

For the people who didn't get in, I do feel bad for them, but for those who did I think the event was a huge success despite the lines.

Sorry for your loss.

My apologies.

EDIT: Event is pretty much over from what I'm hearing. They are out of nearly everything EXCEPT posters, but I have to admit that this event was TERRIBLY RUN (not because I did not get the stuff I was hoping), let me explain:

- The poster table was left unattended for most of the event so people who went up grabbed as many as they could and walked straight out. I'm hearing that the most they heard of was 1 person walked out with 10 posters.

I disagree and think your accusations are beyond unfair, from the point of view from someone who actually was at the event and stayed until the very end. They guarded those posters beyond seriously. There were always at least 2 or 3 Square Enix staff watching how many each person took like hawks, and several hotel security staff were standing off making sure everything went down without any funny business.

I mean, I don't particularly understand their stance regarding the poster situation; there were hundreds of them left over even at the end of the event, but their "exclusivity" to this event wasn't taken lightly. At the end of the day, they allowed attendees to take two, even three maximum if they went back, but they. Were. Always. Watching.

- The pins were 1 PER PERSON and sadly, people walked back outside from the main event into the waiting room and went back in like they were new and the employees gave them ANOTHER pin. I also heard that people walked out with 4 pins when they were only supposed to have 1. The poster was thankfully not fully gone so everyone who wanted 1 got 1, but this is NOT FAIR! How is it fair when there are well over 3000 people in line before the event starts for 1 person to get 4 pins when only 2000 pins exist??? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?????

I'm just a little curious but how exactly did you arrive at this conclusion? You said in a previous post that you had been told over 3000 people were queued up before the event even started. Therefore it is impossible for anyone to exit the ballroom and reenter the line to receive a second pin unless they found a way to cut in front of thousands of others without anyone noticing.

- When people who went back outside to get another pin went back inside, they held the line up and the line moved incredibly slow. After all the games and pins were gone people just wanted a poster (to walk away with something) and once they entered the main building employees started giving posters outside the building so people would just leave. However, those who were in front of those who got posters weren't allowed to go back outside to get a poster, they had to wait another hour to get a poster. So basically, if you got there late, you got a poster and waited there for 3 hours. If you got there early, you got a poster and had to wait 4 hours AND THEN another 1.

Yeah, Ethy and I were there with her friend and Churro, helping them roll up posters to give away outside the hotel in the afternoon when they became worried for the attendees' well-being. These were people who had been waiting for hours in the blazing sun, with still hundreds of people in front of them before they could even get into the building. At that point, it was not likely they would be able to enter the event until shortly before it ended, so they decided that it's better to start giving away posters outside so they would be able to leave with something.

Because there were not many attendees leaving the ballroom (some of them stayed to talk with other fans, get pictures with cosplayers, etc.), they could not send anymore in, which set the line back. Don't automatically associate the outrageous line with greedy fans trying to score more freebies.

Don't get me wrong, I know you probably think I'm just overly angry at the pin situation and perhaps I am, but you cannot deny that the employees didn't really know what they were doing at this event. I cannot blame them, I heard horror stories from D23 at the Anaheim Convention Center this year and I really do hope that they do another event like this for 2.5 next year, but I'll be darned if they didn't do a terrible job of hiring some employees this year. They need to fix that for next year...

Yes, you really are. Get some sleep and come back to this when you're thinking more clearly, kupo. We know you. We know you're very passionate about both the series and collecting the merchandise. You were unfortunately not able to get the items you wanted very much, and I'm sorry, but you cannot blame the staff for these misfortunes.

You need to keep in mind: the staff who coordinate these events, manage PR, community, merchandising, etc. on an everyday basis in the office, are the same ones present here. They are not the ones making the final calls but they try to do everything within their power to make as much accessible to the fans as possible. You seem to be under the impression that they were hired specifically to help out with the event, but that is really not so, and it is truly very overwhelming for them. It was hard for them to even receive the okay to host the event, and only grew increasingly more difficult with each phase. They could have collected as much data and prepared for the event for months on end; it'd still wouldn't even begin to be comparable to the real deal.

What they were able to accomplish was far better than anything we could have expected, if previous events were anything to go by. And it's not like they could have magically obtained just enough copies of games, mural pieces, and whatever to account for anyone who could possibly show up. There is a limit on everything.

They generously made the event open to the public and free to enter - that is a precious gift enough on its own. If word spreads to the other branches and the higher ups about just what they can accomplish and how passionate the fans are in America, perhaps we can expect something more in the future. But for now, we'd be honored to take whatever we can get, because they are not obligated to give us anything, and we should not be so entitled to expect it.

I highly doubt it.
Don't even know why the game is there. It'll have been released for almost a month

It will only be three weeks since it launches here in Australia. It is also probably there for people who are unaware of the game or know very little of the game, plus I guarantee you there will be some parents with kids at this show as well.

That would be me (again). Lol. I did appreciate them moving the line around so we could all try to fit under the shade. Alas, I did not put on sunscreen cause I thought I would not need it (I know, bad call), and this is the result:

You guys were helping to roll up the posters??? That means I totally could've passed right by you and not even realize I was next to the almighty KHI staff?! Well, if it was you rolling the poster and handing it to me, thanks!

You know, it says something about the state of the world today when so-called "real fans" do things the heros in the game would be thoroughly disappointed about.

like being greedy over pieces of paper, cutting lines, etc. I may not have minded so much if I went, but these things happen with anything popular, speaking from personal experience.

I know what you mean. I've been watching some let's plays on Youtube and they are all first timers, whether will it be KH, KH II or BBS. I've noticed that many of these guys say that this franchise is one of their favorites. Problem is that some of them are disrespecting the game and some things that characters say.

Why must people care more about their stupid views and like counts than caring about sharing the experience of playing this game for the first time with so many people?

Money? If they're a YouTube partner at least.

I mean seriously, getting paid to play Kingdom Hearts? I'd be down for that.

Money is a pretty big driving force in most everything we do. I've never liked that, but it's the world we live in.

As for getting paid to play KH? Well, we SPEND money to play it in the first place, so I'd be down to get PAID for it, instead! ;D

Oh dear D: Hope it gets better soon! I'm glad you were able to get a poster, but sorry we were unable to meet up. We realized after we got in that, considering how the event was being run, it'd be very unfair of us to expect you guys to either have been there in the wee hours of the morning or be willing to leave your spot in the line just to meet up :c We'd have loved for you to be able to enjoy yourselves inside and get together, but this is a once-in-a-lifetime launch event and we'll always have other chances to see each other.

We're not almighty, but thank you! We actually passed by the line after lunch and was planning on trying to get back inside, talk to the staff, etc. When we were heading back in, they carried a table out with a bunch of posters rolled up and a huge stack still left to do so. We honestly had nothing better to do and figured that we'd offer to help xD I really appreciate that they let us do so; the poster itself is a treasure and that they had enough for every attendee is truly wonderful.

They say they'll be giving them out at another event (none has been announced that we're aware of). But there are a ton left over, so if they host another in California, we'd be honored to be able to attend and possibly help out again! (or they're probably tired of seeing our faces haha)

Master Spockanort
I think it is more disgusting that people are trying to sell these posters. And a lot of the people who were double-dipping the pins were pin traders or people who sell them $100-200 a pop on eBay.

That's by far the most disgusting part of the whole process. At least if the pins went to real fans then I'd at least know that the event worked well, but instead we have people who went there solely for profit and the worst part is...they'll get it (not from me, but from other people who will buy their stuff). It's sad but it happens in everything...

Master Spockanort
They had at least about 1000 copies of the game, which was way more than I think anybody expected them to have. At their last launch event at Nintendo World for KH3D, there were only 50 Mark of Mastery Editions on sale. This was a lot better than that.

This is the truth, they only did have 50 MoM editions at the DDD event. Also, you have to remember but (as far as I know) there isn't any place in Downtown Disney as large as the Platinum Ballroom so the original setup had Downtown Disney in mind, not the ballroom it was in, hence the lack of stuff for the space they had.

Sign
I disagree and think your accusations are beyond unfair, from the point of view from someone who actually was at the event and stayed until the very end. They guarded those posters beyond seriously. There were always at least 2 or 3 Square Enix staff watching how many each person took like hawks, and several hotel security staff were standing off making sure everything went down without any funny business.

Perhaps the posters were guarded, but they were not when 1 of my friend was there (he specifically said nobody was watching the station when he stood directly in front picking up his 1 poster, thankfully, nobody snatched a handful while he was there) and then afterwards people in line saw people walking out with 10 so unless the staff member gave that one person 10 posters, I'm not so sure it was "guarded beyond seriously." I'm sure the posters were guarded for most of the event, but clearly they were not for the entire event, even if those times when they were not guarded were mere minutes, people took advantage of the minutes they had.

I mean, I don't particularly understand their stance regarding the poster situation; there were hundreds of them left over even at the end of the event, but their "exclusivity" to this event wasn't taken lightly. At the end of the day, they allowed attendees to take two, even three maximum if they went back, but they.

This is true, that's why I think the poster thing I could let slide (they do say Downtown Disney anyways so IDK where else they'd be giving them out) but it is still 1 thing that people were nervous about in line before they got posters as they were nervous they wouldn't get 1 when people were walking out with multiples.

The conclusion was reached after a guy walked up to my friends in line and said "Hey, would you guys like a pin? I got 4?" He wanted $60 per pin and when they asked how he got so many, he told them how he did so (with the method I said), and left to try and scam someone else after they said no. I don't know how he was able to cut the thousands, but he did it, and he got away with it sadly :(

Yeah, Ethy and I were there with her friend and Churro, helping them roll up posters to give away outside the hotel in the afternoon when they became worried for the attendees' well-being. Well that was awfully nice of you and that does make sense, from the perspective of those stuck in line though (who still never made it in anyways) they were irritated. I posted that at the time that I did not know you guys knew they wouldn't get in, but from the perspective of those who got in line earlier, still did not make it in, and saw posters being given out behind them, I'm sure if they knew the reason (and I will tell them) then they'd understand ^_^

Thank you for understanding but I do partly still blame the staff (only a little) and mostly blame the hecticness of the event. When it comes to any big event, it is on the responsibility of the staff to gauge the popularity and prepare for it. Honestly, this event was much better prepared for than Disney has done recently (with Disney-specific events that I won't even get into how badly they were run with trampling, fighting, and snatching out of hands) but I don't think anyone expected such a turnout, hopefully next year though they will see how big it is (I'm really hoping for another 2.5 event) and prepare for it. If they don't improve next year, then that would be completely their own faults since they should know how big the scope will be now (if not bigger considering KH2FM).

I honestly did not know that they were all directly from SE. I recognize most of the staff since they are the same ones that hosted the Nintendo World events as well as nearly every SE booth at most cons, some I did not recognize (from videos, actual attendance, etc.) so I did assume that they were new to the this whole thing and were perhaps security...that was a false assumption on my part :P

What they were able to accomplish was far better than anything we could have expected, if previous events were anything to go by. And it's not like they could have magically obtained just enough copies of games, mural pieces, and whatever to account for anyone who could possibly show up. There is a limit on everything.

I have no problem with the quantity of things they brought, if anything, I'm shocked that they brought so many copies of the game, as Ethy said, at the DDD event they only had 50 MoM editions, I really only though they'd bring 100 copies of 1.5 AT BEST. It is nice that they brought so many ^_^

I'm guessing they'll be giving them out at all the upcoming events to promote the game (New York Comic con perhaps I'm thinking is 1 of them) but I really don't get it considering it does say Downtown Disney. Then again, with a poster THAT nice, who is gonna care. I sure wouldn't <_<

Aww, thanks for looking out for all the members who attended! You guys really do care T^T Man, if they have a 2.5 launch event, I am SO getting their a lot earlier than I did for 1.5. I underestimated the KH fandom this time since literally no one around me (not even my friends) are interested in it...and then I go to the 1.5 event and WOW! Oh, you are too modest :P That's very sweet of you guys to help, seriously. I'm pretty sure they had a mutual appreciation. And them getting tired of your guys' faces? Psh, never.

Maybe they'll secretly host one in Downtown Disney so the location labeled on the poster matches the actual location :D

Also, I dunno if any of the staff answered this yet, but time did ya'll get there?
Actually, I'm curious what time everyone got there. I was expecting the earliest people to arrive 2-3 hours early, but not 9 hours. That's almost as crazy as Comic Con line waiting!

Yup, look at how long the line is when any console is released O___O And I'll admit, guilty as charged for waiting overnight for BOTH the Re:Coded and DDD events. I got to both events at 9pm the night before and I was never the first person there, Re:Coded I was 9th I think, DDD I was 16th.

Anyone see themselves? I remember that guy with the X-blade walking outside. It was seriously one of the BEST handmade keyblades I've ever seen (not that I've seen many in person, but still). Also, I love the SE staff poses, especially the dude sleeping in front of Pooh's house and one sending another flying across the Olympus Coliseum grounds. Agrabah jumper also has the most entertaining face full of so much expression; it brings the whole picture to life! (I also think he was the nice guy making multiple runs around the line outside updating the people on what's happening on the inside, and trying to make the wait more bearable, so kudos to you random staff member)

It's a nice thought to be first, but the people who were first for DDD waited overnight for 3 nights and the people for Re:Coded waited overnight for 2 so I just cannot make myself stay outside that late. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice story, but the SE staff knows me at this point (since I make it a point to thank them all and they know me "that kid that goes to all the KH events" at least on the east coast) and I'm okay with that, I don't think I need to wait overnight multiple nights.

I love looking through the photobooth photos. It's weird but looking back at Re:Coded and DDD, the photobooth was my most fun memory since I always make it a point to come up with extremely creative ways to pose in the photos. You can easily find mine from DDD event just by the way they stand out but I don't want to post them here just because I personally don't like too >_<
