Name: Cadence Isogai
Nickname: Cadence
Age: 18
Hometown: Shibuya
Appearance: Cadence keeps most of her light brown hair up in a loose bun, but she lets some from the front hang past her shoulders to her chest. Her eyes are cyan. She is skinny and somewhat gangly, even.
Personality: Cadence can come off as cold and calculating at first, unsympathetic to those who get in her way. She is very strategic and knowlegeable, and proud of her intelligence. Although she is not social, there are some who she cares for and she tries actively to get along with at least some of her coworkers. She prefers to be alone, but realizes the importance of teamwork, and even friendship, in a world like hers.
Although she is still closed in and secretive, she has been working on becoming more outgoing while she has been a Reaper, and is very loyal to those above her. In her spare time, she usually reading.
She was alone as a Reaper until a girl recently joined- Minnie. Cadence cares for Minnie and tries to keep her in line when possible, but sometimes regrets accepting the girl's offer to be partners.
Reason for Death: Hit by a car
Price Paid: Intelligence. After winning the game, she got this back, but the sense of self-loathing she felt without them still sticks with her, somewhat.
Cell Phone: Andriod
Biography: For as long as she can remember, and according to some, even longer, Cadence has been a quiet child. On the playground, with her siblings, at nursery's -no matter where she was, Cadence didn't seem to be able to make friends. She was always too shy to approach anyone new. Her caretakers always saw that she was to her own little corner, watching things like ants crawling by or grass swaying in the breeze. She used that time to think, wondering why and how things happened and doing her best to figure that out for herself. As soon as she learned to read and write, she instead used those to occupy herself. She read whatever she could get her hands on and wrote anything and everything she learned on whatever paper she could find.
Her parents were busy with their jobs in the evenings, and slept 'til afternoon from their exhaustion. Cadence quickly learned that asking them what they thought of her little observations would be troublesome to them, and she could never work up the courage to ask her babysitters. Because of this, she spent so much time alone that she grew detached from others. Even when her parents announced their divorce when she was in the sixth grade, Cadence didn't feel much. She had been expecting such a thing to happen, in fact. Neither made it to her graduation to middle school that year, despite the fact that she was valedictorian.
Her secludedness only grew worse when her mother insisted that she try and make friends. She was quiet, but not rude, so "making friends" was not hard, truly. But all that was was standing with a group while they talked about things she didn't care about, and asked if they could copy her homework or get help on a test occasionally. She hated the way she didn't even feel like part of them, or part of her family for that matter.
When she left them and went back to thinking in her free time, thoughts of why relationships never worked out for her now dominated her mind. Eventually, she settled on the answer she'd known all along: it was her fault. Her family couldn't be whole, her friends couldn't talk to her, and she couldn't join a club because she was too introverted. Too awkward. Too... stupid. Yet, in this, the only trait Cadence found to be good in herself was her lack of "stupidity". She knew more than any other student in her school, and more than most of those teachers, at least. She was doomed to fail in relationships... So that day, she gave up on them completely. She dedicated all of her time to her studies, pretending not to care that she didn't relate to others.
She graduated early, when she was just 16, since she had skipped two grades. Her mother had taken her out to celebrate her 4.0 and spot at #1, but Cadence wasn't sure how to react to that. She and her mother never did anything together anymore.
Choosing to go to a park that Cadence remembered well from her childhood, the two took a walk while Cadence's mother spoke to her. She apologized for never being there, among other things, but assured Cadence that she was loved. When her mother suddenly wrapped her arms around Cadence, Cadence cried for the first time since she her decision to stop trying with people. Maybe it wasn't just her...
On the walk back home, a drunk driver hit both her and her mother. That was when she entered the Reaper's Game, forfeiting her intelligence for a chance to tell her mother everything she hadn't gotten a chance to and to even try to start over again in their relationship. It took a long while to get used to having a partner to work with there, but she reluctantly went through with it for the sake of earning her second chance at life. Her sense of self-worth during that week was practically none-existant, but her partner was kind enough to convince her that there really was more to her than her brains, and even without them she could shine.
It seemed like everything was going to go fine, but on the last day, Cadence discovered that her mother hadn't made it. If she did go back to life, she would have no one to go back to... No more reason to go back. When she and her partner won, instead of asking to be brought back, Cadence asked to be made a Reaper. She wasn't the type to mourn for those she had to attack for the job, after all, and figured she wuold still be able to go between the worlds. A kind of choice like that seemed beneficial to her.
She did this job solo at first, but a young victor from a recent game asked to become a reaper and declared herself Cadence's partner without asking Cadence. Cadence chose to go along with it, since someone seriously needed to keep this girl in line.
Battle Style: Cadence prefers to keep distance between herself and her foes. Her attacks tend to be long range, or, if she must make physical contact, hit-and-run. She is swift and does everything she can to prevent her foes from even touching her, but she is not always successful in it. She actively tries to find a pattern in her enemy's attacks.

Sample Post: Cadence sat in the library, a favorite place for her since she' chosen this path. No one tended to bother her unless it was closing time, so this was the perfect time to think, and to wait. She awaited the next round to begin, not nessicarily excited for the chance to get more points. How many players she took down with Noise determined her own life span, after all. Even if she wasn't particularly attached to her "life" she has no plans of dying any time soon.
But she could not focus on the text in front of her at all, she noticed as she reached the end of the page and realized that her eyes had only followed the words on her page. Her mind was too far elsewhere to take in the information, which was truly a shame since she was trying to study up on psychology to better predict her opponents. Prediction. If there was one person she could never predict, it was the girl who suddenly managed to occupy Cadence's thoughts. Her new... partner, as it turned out. A girl who logically shouldn't have been allowed in, but was apparently good enough to make it.
Cadence closed her book and stood up to return it to go check it out. The library was a stupid place for her to hide now, considering her new partner knew how much she liked it here. Cadence greeted the librarian awkwardly, despite how many times she came here. Socailly, she had a lot to learn. But as soonas she had walked out holding her new, thick book, her partner called out to her and jumped to get her into a tight hug. "Cady, I missed you!" she said, in a voice that made her seem younger than she was.
Cadence sighed. This would be interesting, at least. She patted the girl on the head and told her once again to drop the act around her. Other than that, Cadence wasn't sure what she should say, so she simply walked on, followed by her very excited partner rambling on about how much fun they were going to have together and how Cadence had to show her how to do everything. Cadence was never good with children, or people at all, and tutoring was something she was horrible at. Still, she couldn't help but feel the girl might possibly get her into huge trouble if Cadence didn't keep her in line and show her what not to do. "Just follow my lead and remember the rules," she said finally, hoping it was enough.
Spoiler Show"This is my favorite game, so there's no way I'd lose."
Name: Minuet Mussette
Nickname: Minnie
Age: 14
Hometown: Shibuya
Appearance:Minnie is short and very cute, since she happens to be a late bloomer. She has short orange hair, reaching slightly past her chin. Her eyes are big and gold colored. She always wears her hairband with a little bow on it.
Personality: Extremely manipulative, this cute face hides a very devious mind. Those who she does not specifically care for or find useful are little more than toys for her. She chose Cadence as a partner with this in mind- Cadence is one of the few who never bought Minnie's innocent act, and Minnie has a respect and sort of attraction to Cadence, in a mother-daughter sort of way, and also finds it fun to constantly bother someone who values her alone time so much.
She is a very good actress and puts on a facade of being kind, blissfully ignorant, and cheerful. She truly is childish, however, dispite her more mature outlook on life. She loves breaking others' spirits and hopes to advance in rank and in power soon to be able to do so more easily. It's not that she doesn't understand what's morally wrong and morally right- it's that she truly doesn't care. She's easily annoyed and can sometimes have a short attention span. There are also many things that frighten her, and although she knows "people" well, she lacks book smarts. When she has a grudge against someone, she holds it forever.
Secretly, though, she is very lonely. She is simply not willing to settle for someone she hates to assuage this loneliness.
Reason for Death: Burned in a Fire
Price Paid: Her apathy. She hated how she couldn't turn a blind eye to anyone's suffering or sadness now, or even manipulate without a guilty conscience riding on her. It was during this time that she grew to start liking Cadence, a reaper she ran into several times over the course of her week.
Cell Phone: A flip-phone
Biography: Minuet was always very girly and social, even as a child. However, she was also very disdainful, although she kept that to herself. As a little girl, she frequently changed foster homes, with some having creuler caretakers than others. She always wondered why her parents wouldn't have wanted to keep a cute, sweet little girl like her. That's what everyone else called her, after all.
Of course, they rarely caught that cute, sweet little girl pulling the pranks that she always managed to blame others for. She was always surrounded by friends, but she didn't care for any of them enough to stop her from pinning the blame on them at least once. She never felt a twinge of guilt for it, either- these people didn't even really know her, after all. And she didn't care that they didn't know her.
As she got older, the "pranks" became more sophisticated and dangerous. Instead of taking the last cookie or placing whoopie cushions in chairs, she stole or set fires. She was simply amazed at the high she could get from doing so many things like that and never once being caught. It became an outlet for her to vent the many frustrastions she had with daily life.
One day, Minnie saw a woman who looked shockingly similar to the way she did. Long hair that was the same color as Minnie's short hair, and eyes the same color, too. Minnie's features were rare, or at least to the best of her knowledge they were, so Minnie immidiately assumed this was the mother who had abandoned her so long ago. With a smile, Minnie walked up to the woman and asked if she recognized Minnie. The woman stared at her for a long time, but finally shook her head and asked if they'd met before. After that response, Minnie wasn't sure what to do. She wasn't sure what she'd planned to do in the first place, actually. That didn't matter, though, because Minnie couldn't control what she did next. She stood there and cried, and for the first time that she could remember, they were real tears. That witch had really forgotten her! What really put her over the edge was what the woman asked then- "Um, little girl, where is your mother?"
Minnie bit her bottom lip to keep from telling this woman everything. She didn't deserve an easy way out of something so horrible. She deserved to suffer for that. "I-I don't know," she sputtered, sobbing now. "I can't find her!" Minnie cried louder and louder until the woman finally agreed to help her look. Minnie thanked the woman, still crying, and led her to "where she'd seen her mother last". They finally arrived at an abadoned storehouse, and although Minnie had her doubts about her acting at the time, the woman suspected nothing.
"Here? What were you doing here?" The woman asked, but Minnie didn't bother to answer before she closed the door behind her and blocked it.
"I dunno," she said, dropping the act. She smirked and added. "Maybe my mommy should pay more attention to the places I go." Minnie reached into her pocket for something she'd stolen for a more harmless prank- a lighter. It was originally going to be used to set off some fire crakers to scare someone, but this seemed like a much better opportunity. "I could get hurt, right?" she said, putting on the same sad face as earlier as she lit the flame and dropped it to the floor, dooming both herself and the woman.
In the Reaper's Game, Minnie gave up her apathy, which she only then realized was what kept her consciounce clean dispite everything she did. She cared when other players vanished, when her partner was sad, even when she read someone's mind and they were having a less-than-great day(that...that poor man... can't find the food he likes here...*sniffle*).
She considered multiple times not coming back to life, feeling sorry for everyone she'd wronged or lied to or stolen from- and for the woman that she killed, who may or may not have even been the right woman. Someone like her didn't even deserve to live, after all. She had died because of what she herself had done, and she shouldn't even try to come back. She was adamant in this belief, pushing on solely for her partner's sake, until she ran into Cadence. Rather than run into, she actual successfully held off a strong wave of Noise the older girl had sent to eliminate her. Minnie asked how she could do that without feeling bad about what she was doing- surely this woman had her sympathy in her?
Cadence didn't plan on answering at first, but repeated annoyances from the younger girl broke her on the seventh day while she was simply trying to read and awaiting further orders. What she said amounted to, "you should do what you must, or want you want, if you have the power to back it up and the will to get ahead." It was said off-handedly, in addition to a remark about Minnie "cutting the cutesie act, it was clear she was faking and she was a little too old for it". Still, it somehow really got to Minnie, in a way she'd never admit. As soon as she and her partner won, Minnie asked to be made a reaper, and although it took a little convincing since she was so young, she was finally allowed to be one with a partner. The partner she chose went without saying- the one person she admired.
Battle Style: Minnie is a very upfront fighter, and relies on heavy hits rather than mind games in a fight. Most of her attacks are melee. She tends to rush in without thinking things through, but when things are going unfavorably for her, she slows down and attacks more carefully, paying closer attention. If simmple relentless attacks don't work, Minnie tries to trip her opponents up or suprise them.

Sample Post: Skipping through town, a large lollipop that she had managed to steal in her hand, Minnie felt like she was at the top of the world. When, oh, when was she going to get a chance to play with more players? Sicing noise on them was fun, but an all out fight would surely be even better! But she'd recently found out that that almost never happened. The niose always got all the fun. Watching them do it would be entertaining for Minnie, at least. Still, the game was still not started yet. Stopping and looking around, blushing a little and the stuck her candy into her mouth, she tried to think of something to occupy her in the meantime.
Luckily, she spotted her faithful new partner leaving the library then. "Cady!" she called, jumping at the woman and giving her a hug. "I missed you!" The woman told Minnie to drop the act, an Minnie was actually a little relieved to hear that. "I'm not acting, I just can't wait. We get the chance to work together! Show me the ropes and everything well, 'kay? You hafta promise!"
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!And on that note:
JUNE 16 2012
Should know what that is, everyone, if not, think about it.
The last paragraph of my post kinda fell flat. I had been taking my time on that post until the last part when my folks busted in going "WE'RE GONNA GO VISIT YOUR FAMILY IN FIVE MINUTES, GET READY!" so I just threw stuff together knowing that we'd be gone all day and I wanted to get my post in. I planned to edit it when I got back home (now) but rereading it, it's not as terrible as I thought it had been.
I'll probably edit later anyway... ;-;
Um, Piercing Light? I'd kinda been planning on forming a pact with Key Wielder's character; Id just left it open for Allegra to, that's all. The idea of the two girls working together had been interesting for me.
They'll probably be rejected, but there's no harm in trying, at least. *shrug*
