Anyone else besides me suffering from these people?
I gotta admit that I'm both thankful and not happy about it.
I don't have to worry about that person searching through my Facebook or Twitter.
But it's super annoying when I try explaining something and that person won't understand.

So?

Suffering is a strong word; it's also the wrong word.

I quite like the sense of superiority when explaining things to people, but if you don't, no one is holding you at gunpoint to explain anything to anyone.

I have a friend who falls into this new category I made called "bottled water knowledge." The name has a lot of backstory so I won't explain it but there's a good reason for it.

He claims to know a ton about computers but in fact cannot actually build or keep a system secure to save his life. It's pretty unfortunate :v

The best part is when my friends (usually female) ask me to fix their computers after they've gotten a virus and then they adamantly lie about having gotten it while surfing kinky porn sites.

I fall into this category, haha. I've broken down a computer before, but the thing was shot to hell so I never bothered to try to reassemble it.

Yeah, suffering is not the right word. Exaggeration, exaggeration.
Anyhow, let's just say that I can't really NOT help the person. It's an obligation, at some point.
I just hate it when I explain something over and over and the person doesn't get it at all. Something like this:

Me: This site is blocked. See? *clicks on link* (don't get the wrong idea it was some sort of political page or something)
Person: I just wanna read that (insert something political here) part.
Me: I told you, the whole thing is BLOCKED. You can't read anything.
Person: I told you, I want to read that little part!
Me: I TOLD YOU IT'S BLOCKED!!!!

...That's how it is.

I actually don't know all that much about computers myself, yet I still find myself in situations like that because everyone else at my house knows even less -.-

No, suffer is the right word.
Every time I try to talk technology with anyone irl, they just look at me with a blank expression.
Makes me suffer inside, for my nerdyness, but mostly for their stupidity. Especially when I'm talking simple things, like how to use the features in Microsoft Office.

I feel your pain.

Here's a situation I had recently.

Teacher: Now put everything into 3 columns and then blahblahblah (not necessary)
Male Student Next to me: How do we put 3 columns? Like that! (points at my screen)
Me: You just click the column tool and then drag to the one that says 3 columns.
Male Student: What column button?
Me: The one he told us about at the start of class. It's right there -points at it-
Male Student: I want columns not sideways lines.
Me: .....that is the columns button though.
Male Student: No it's not!

And when he scrolled over it, it clearly said COLUMN.

I tend to always get annoyed when I try to explain something to someone and they still don't understand, computers are no different.

But what bothers me the most is when people can't figure out the simplest tasks that require only looking at the screen.
"How do I print this???????"
Well, obviously it can't be that big icon with a picture of a printer on it. That would be too easy.

I'm fine with these people. It's just when I'm constantly bombarded with stupidest of things (I don't know how many times I've told someone how to get rid of a freaking virus) I get annoyed. :\

I also enjoy what Sam said. It's the best.

Yeah, I mean I won't lie, I definitely fall into that category as well; I just don't lie about what I do and don't know. lol

I'm hoping I can learn more this summer about it. I know a good amount in terms of hardware (what things are, essentially) and computer usage but that's really it.

My Web Design didn't know what Transparent meant, and always told the class to use GIF images instead of PNG when making a webpage. I pointed out to her that we should just use PNG images with a transparent background (cause she just had kids saving it as GIF or JPG, and changing the canvas color to a color close to the background's, but it still always looked like shit) and she just went "Oh." The next day, she teaches the class about it, and then says "but don't ever use PNG because it only works on newer browsers, and some people don't upgrade." Internet Explorer has been supporting it sense 4.0. I just facepalmed, and went on.

Honestly, this almost never happens to me. If anything, somebody will ask me to do something on a computer that I have no idea how to do. I guess they assume I'm some sorta computer genius.

This. It's annoying for me, not knowing much to begin with, but then people try asking me about either the simpliest things I wonder how they missed or things I had no clue I could do. -__-

Yeah, I'm pretty much admitting I'm a dumbarse. I probably agrivate people more than they agrivate me, like the time I tried calling tech support for this new computer o' mine. xD

Girl: Hey professor this thing isn't working

Professor: What thing?

Girl: This thing right here!

Professor: Where?

Girl: This thing under the desk! People tell me what it's called all the time but I keep forgetting.

Professor: *starts laughing* a computer?

Girl: Yeah that's it! It won't turn on.
