Doesn't justify a lot of the dimwitted things he said and done. KH2 Sora is a lot different from CoM Sora and they were pretty much on the same page as far as knowledge was concerned. CoM!Sora acted maturely in several situations and acted goofy and necessary situations where as KH2 Sora acted clueless and childish almost 24/7. You can see the anger and emotion in CoM Sora because of good writing and actual emotion shown on his face, KH2 Sora reacted to everything in the most awkward of ways.
Maybe they decided to write Sora without the anger and angst in KH2. We never really saw Sora extremely angry in KH1. I mean, the worst I remember him saying was calling Riku stupid. Sora got angry in KH2, too. He showed anger at Xemnas, at the Heartless in general, at Xaldin, at various Disney villains.
I don't really understand what you mean by, "awkward". I hate to sound demanding/annoying, but could you elaborate?
I mean, the scene where he begged Saix to bring him to Kairi...was he desperate? Sure. Heartfelt moment? Maybe. But if Sora had remembered all the crap he had been saying to the Organization throughout the game he would know that no matter what Sora would do, he wouldn't "sway" Saix to do anything because the man had no emotions. He literally took everything he knew about the nobodies and threw it out the window, took his dignity and threw it out the window, I mean... and then the lines this game had. Forced lines that made held little emotion.
Yes. Desperate because he knew his best friend for about nine years was in trouble. He did the same, 'throw prejudice out the window about Nobodies' with Axel, too. Axel kidnapped Kairi and apologized to him for it, and then Sora accepted the apology and fought alongside him. By your logic, Sora would be out-of-character in that scene too, and should've just been like, "I HATE you, you're a Nobody! You're stupid!", and then kill Axel without any guilt or second questions. But he didn't.
Also, Sora only attacked the other members when they attacked FIRST. Saix didn't attack Sora at first. So Sora didn't retaliate.
To be fair, Yen Sid somewhat brainwashed the kid. You know, the whole, "You must NOT be deceeeeiiiiiiivvveed.....", and, "They will stop at nothing....".
He was less mature to me. Was he being goofy on purpose? I don't give the boy that much credit. Maybe CoM Sora I'd give the benefit of the doubt but that boy in KH2 was not playing dumb at all.
I think they just showed Sora's immaturity differently across the games. In KH1, he was always diving headfirst into other's problems and trying to fix them. In CoM, he showed his immaturity by getting all angry and having that angst thing. In KH2, he dove headfirst into other's problems just like he did in KH1, but he acted more optimistic. Like someone said before(I can't remember who and I'm too lazy to scroll up), he'd just saved the universe and feels cocky. From what we've seen in one of the DDD trailers, Sora
gets all like, "Well, no one's gonna beat me and I'm gonna win the Mark of Mastery, EASY!"
So I think that cocky attitude is gonna continue. If SE is smart enough, they'll make something happen to Sora that knocks him off his high pedestal and grow more as a character.
And I do think Sora acted goofy to lighten the situation. And I admit that sometimes, he was really stupid. Like, you know the whole 'Mulan is actually a girl' thing. But by that logic, we'd have to call Donald stupid, too, because he fell for the same thing.
Sora can be stupid. I just think that KH2!Sora tried to lighten up the situation a bit.
