With his tall orange hair and his blitzball always in hand, Wakka is known as the oldest between himself, Tidus, and Selphie. In Kingdom Hearts, Wakka makes a cameo in Sora's opening dream sequence asking him about what Sora wants out of life. Later on, Sora's reply to this question can begin to affect him. During Sora's stay on the Islands Wakka can give Sora some valuable information. At a point Wakka begins to discuss the secret place with Sora allowing a player to visit this area. Like Tidus and Selphie, Wakka also appears as a fightable character. If Sora wins the battle, he gains experience.

Wakka makes an appearance in Sora's memory of Destiny Islands at some point in Re: Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. At first, Wakka is mystified by the fact Sora can't remember his name at first. With a few promising words from Selphie, Wakka begins to jump on the bandwagon and playfully tease Sora and his need to be with "her". Eventually, Wakka leaves willingly with Selphie and Tidus in order to allow Sora to find "her". During Reverse/Rebirth Wakka makes a silent appearance as his disappearing figure stuns Riku in the Destiny Islands of his memory.
