Cheshire Cat

KINGDOM HEARTS

First Appearance: KINGDOM HEARTS (2002)
Origin: Alice in Wonderland (1951)

One of Wonderland's bizarre occupants. The Cheshire Cat is, as his name implies, a feline fellow with the peculiar ability of changing his body's visibility, from appearing in full to only showing his grin, to detaching his head and joggling it.

As though for his amusement, the Cheshire Cat helped Sora prove Alice's innocence, but never directly, only through riddles. Even when Alice was kidnapped the cat helped Sora track down the Heartless who were after the world's Keyhole.

Seeing how he was approached at one time by Maleficent to join her group of villains out to conquer all worlds, this kitty's motives remain shrouded in mystery. So long as he remains on Sora's side, however, there is little the boy can complain about.

KINGDOM HEARTS 358/2 Days

First Appearance: KINGDOM HEARTS (2002)
Origin: Alice in Wonderland (1951)

The most mysterious, and possibly the most insane, denizen of Wonderland, the Cheshire Cat is an enigma due to its ability to reappear and disappear at will and seems to have immense knowledge of the world which puts even the Queen of Hearts to shame. However, it has a fondness for talking in riddles, and absolutely refuses to give a straight answer regarding its true origin or its connection to the Heartless.

Throughout Roxas's missions in Wonderland, the Cheshire Cat constantly gives him cryptic hints on hunting down the various Heartless inhabiting the world. Roxas is often irritated by its maddening and contradictory clues, but is forced to ponder the Cheshire Cat's last advice: He should always believe in his heart. But if Roxas does not have a heart, what should he believe in? Is this once again another useless and vague piece of advice, or something that would push the Nobody closer to behaving like a human?
