The effects look really good but the story doesn't do it for me. They could have made this into a really cool movie, but they didnt.

Well actually..
Mt. Olympus isn't heaven it's just where the greek olympians lived. The Underworld isn't just a hell-ish place. In the book it explains there are three parts to it.
1: The torture part. If you were bad in life you got sent there
2:There was this gray colored Kansas looking place. For people that weren't really good or bad they got put there.
3: If you were good you went to this palace paradise.
All three places resided in the Underworld. The movie made it look like that everyone was tortured.

Just clarifying that for you.

If he didn't read the book, he has no idea what you are talking about. Hardly anything in the movie is like the book. And when I posted, I was talking about the movie.

I read the book and i say this is a bad movie, the books plot is way better and in the movie they cut out the main villain pulling all the strings which is Kronos.

I loved the movie it's just it was very different from the book.

SPOILERS:
Here's why...
When they go to the museum in the book Nancy Bobofet and her friends throw their lunches on Grover, but in the movie Nancy isn't there. Mrs. Dodds was a Pre-Algebra teacher, but I think she's a Language teacher in the movie. When Mrs. Dodds attacks Percy, Mr. Brunner throws Percy his pen-sword, Riptide, and Percy cuts her in half, in the movie he doesn't get the sword and Mrs. Dodds flies out the window. There's no part in the movie where Grover and Mr. Brunner are talking about Percy and Percy is eavesdropping on them. Nobody remembers or knows who Ms. Dodds is after Percy kills her in the book, but in the movie after he kills her he is immediately taken back home with Grover. Percy ditches Grover at the bus station after the school year ends and meets Smelly Gabe who asks him for money, but in the movie there's no bus station and Percy comes home everyday instead of being at Yancy Academy for the whole school year. Grover doesn't falcon punch Gabe with his crutches in the nuts in the book, but he does in the movie. Percy is supposed to be 12 instead of 16 like in the movie. The Minotaur seen was pretty much the same, but instead of the big arch that leads to Camp Half-Blood like in the movie, but in the book it was just Thalia Daughter of Zeus's tree. When he gets to CHB he wakes up and Annabeth gives him nectar and ambrosia and then Grover wakes him up again and gives him nectar and ambrosia in the book, but in the movie he just arrives there. He stays in the Hermes cabin until he is claimed by Poseidon later in the book, but in the movie he just goes to the Poseidon cabin. In the book Clarisse (Daughter of Ares) tries to shove Percy's head down the toilet after Annabeth and Chiron show him around CHB, but in the movie Clarisse isn't there. Percy doesn't get Riptide until they play capture the flag. There's no Dionysus or Argus at CHB either in the movie. When Percy battles Clarisse for the flag in the book he breaks her electric spear and then Luke summoned a hellhound to try to kill him and then Poseidon claims him as his son, but in the movie he battles Annabeth. The cabins are very different from the description in the book. In the movie during the campfire seen Hades appears and asks Percy where the Master Bolt is , but this never happened in the book. Percy sees the Oracle of Delphi for the prophecy of his quest, but in the movie the Oracle of Delphi isn't even mentioned and Percy sneaks out of CHB with Annabeth and Grover after seeing Luke in his cabin. Also in the book Percy gets the pearls from a Naiad, but in the movie they go all over America to find them. In the book before Percy, Annabeth, and Grover get on the bus, Percy sees the Fates cutting a thread, but this doesn't happen in the book. In the book when they're on the bus the Furies attack them and the bus blows up, but this never happens in the movie, but there is a bus scene. Percy, Annabeth, and Grover flee the bus and go to Aunty Em's Garden Gnome Emporium and Medusa gives them food, but in the movie they just walk into Medusa's lair and meet the lady that is running from Medusa. Percy uses a green orb to see Medusa's reflection in the book to cut her head off, but in the movie Medusa is looking at Percy's iPhone (Half-Bloods aren't supposed to have phones either because they attract monsters) and she sees Percy right before he cuts her head off. Percy sends Medusa's head to Mount Olympus, but in the movie they just carry it around. After they leave Medusa's lair they meet a poodle that tells Grover to return him to his family so they can get money for train tickets, but this doesn't happen in the movie and they just take a truck. In the book they take a train to St. Louis and have like 3 hours before the train leaves for Denver so they go to the Arch because Annabeth wanted to see it and Percy fights Echidna and her son, the Chimera at the top of the Arch and jumps down into the Mississippi River, but in the movie they go to the Parthenon in Nashville and fight the Hydra which isn't until the second book (Sea of Monsters). After they flee from St. Louis they meet Ares in a cafe and he tells them to get his shield from the water park down the road because he left it there when him and Aphrodite went into the tunnel of love. So Percy and his friends go to the Waterland water park and get new clothes and a bookbag from the gift shop. Then they go to get Ares's shield from the tunnel of love, but the cupid statues make a golden net around the pool to trap Annabeth and Percy because Hephaestus made the trap for Ares and Aphrodite since Aphrodite was cheating on him. Percy makes water come to them and fills up the pool and they ride the boat down the tunnel and escape the waterpark and return the shield to Ares, but in the movie this doesn't happen. Ares tells them to take an illegal zoo truck to L.A., but the truck stops one time in Las Vegas. So Percy and his friends stay hidden in the back of the truck with a zebra and an albino lion and something else and when they stop in Las Vegas they let the animals go, but in the movie they took a truck to Las Vegas. The part about the Lotus Casino was correct, but in the book Percy meets a kid dressed up like Elvis from the year 1976 I think, but in the movie he meets a kid from 1971 playing a French Connection pinball machine. And in the movie they use a Porsche to escape the hotel, but in the book this doesn't happen. When they arrive in L.A. the entrance to the Underworld was a record company (I can't remember the company's name), but in the movie it was under the Hollywood sign. When they enter the Underworld in the movie they take a boat and see people tortured and what not, but in the book they wait in a line and Cerberus tries to attack them so they run away from Cerberus. After this Luke's flying shoes try to get Percy, Annabeth, and Grover sucked into Tartarus the shoes fall into the pit (where Kronos is imprisoned), but this never happens in the movie. When they get to Hades's palace in the book Hades Helm and the Master Bolt were in Percy's bookbag and he was set up by Ares. In the movie the Master Bolt was in the shield Luke gave Percy. They use the pearls to escape in the book, but they only have three so Percy's mom stays behind, but in the movie Grover stays behind after Persephone knocked out Hades with the Master Bolt. They start to float out of the Underworld in bubbles or something and they arrive at the Empire State Building to return the Master Bolt, but in the movie Percy battles with Luke for the Lightning Bolt and Luke is thrown into the Hudson when Percy blasts him with the Bolt. As Percy arrives on Mount Olympus with the bolt he talks to the gods and Zeus takes the lightning bolt, gives Percy back Medusa's head, Percy asks if Zeus can get his mom out of the Underworld, and Poseidon talks to Percy, but in the movie Percy just returns the bolt and speaks to Poseidon. Also the gods are different looking then their descriptions in the book like the cabins at CHB. When they arrive back at CHB in the book Luke tells him how he tried to kill him with the summoned hellhound and the possessed flying shoes and then he gives Percy a scorpion which stings him and Percy almost dies and Luke fades or runs away or something, but in the movie this never happened. At the end of the book Percy's mom turns Gabe into stone with Medusa's head, but in the movie it ends with Percy and Annabeth sword fighting at CHB, but if you stay for the credits you see Gabe get turned to stone in the movie as well.
