I can't believe that they cut out the ever-so-necessary line, "The name's Bond; James Bond."
Who cares about the plot or the camera work? Even if they were fantastic, I still would've disliked the movie, because of that one single line.

I actually cant wait to see this. It looks like it will be full of action. And I love the fact that it picks up right after Casino Royale.

Meh, I saw it last night, and didn't think very highly of it.
Firstly, there's the problem that this does follow on from Casino Royale, and so it can be a little straining on the memory if you can't remember the plot. But it would have admittedly been extremely tacky if there was a "PREVIOUSLY IN JAMES BOND..." at the beginning.
Also, I thought the character of Strawberry Fields was...exceedingly badly used. She barely added to the plot at all, and there was virtually no chemistry between her and Bond which made the seduction awkward rather than anything else. She wasn't hostile to him, just ambivalent, so she had no reason to jump in bed with him, and even that was glossed over far too much. She completely lacked personality, in my opinion, she wasn't presented as strong, interesting, or admirable. And why was she covered in tar (apart from the allusion to gold paint in Goldfinger), because the whole point was that Dominic Greene wasn't interested in oil at all.
Another seeming plot incongruency was how the Camille knew that the General knew her identity and knew she had a vendetta against him, so how could he hope to assasinate him when he'd be suspecting that she'd take revenge. But overall, she was a good bond girl.
I don't like Craig as James Bond, because he's not so charismatic or seductive as the others, and can seem like any other action film protagonist. He seemed a little too humane, and whilst it's nice to have one Bond film without loads of sex, to show it can be done, I hope they don't make this a regular thing.
I found that camera work erratic, too. I especially disliked how during quite a few of the action sequences, they kept using parallel shots - for example, a chase around a building, interrupted by jockeys riding horses which had nothing to do with anything! Unnecessary gratuitous action.
I have to say, I thought it was slightly better than Casino Royale, which is one of the worst Bond films ever. Good to watch on a saturday afternoon or something, but falls a little flat compared to all the hype.

Yeah, you've really hit the nail on the head there. Bond should be able to seduce women, whilst simultaneously seducing the audience, to endear them towards him.
I think the films need a lot better direction, combined with better scriptwriting. Even the plots are getting slightly dry now. And also, I think they should stop trying to have James Bond for the 21st century, and be more like the older Bond films, even if this means they are less realistic.
This one lacked women, gadgets, Bond triumphing in nearly every situation....which are all staple features of any Bond film, and that's why the audience likes the films. They're trying to make the films too deep, imo.

I just got my tickets for the midnight showing. I know the reviews thus far hav only been "good" but I'm still psyched for it tomorrow night.

I hope you all know that Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace are part of Bond's early years, right after he gained his license to kill.
That's why you don't see the same Bond you do in all the other Bond films.
Also, you guys are judging this movie even when it's not out?

Im really enjoying the reboot of the series. But I understand a lot of people are probably missing the gadgets.

It was good enough for a sequel and Bond just killing anything that moved. Come on John Cleese to play Q for the next movie.
I enjoyed it (saw it about two hours ago).
And, quite frankly, it did a good job of an action movie. A really good job. However, I, like many people before me, was disappointed by the lack of the cool Bond gadgets. Seriously, it isn't a great Bond movie until you have some wicked shit that blows more shit up.
Ah well, I give it an 8.3/10. Very solid movie.

I saw Quantum of Solace. It was pretty good. Daniel Craig seems to be the best James Bond so far (Don't get me wrong. Sean Connery is an amazing actor, but Daniel Craig is just a wee bit better). Some of the action scenes leave you on the edge of your seat, and even the dialogue scenes have you guessing "What will happen next?". I wasn't a big fan of the opening song, however. I love the White Stripes, and I liked the song. It just didn't fit the James Bond formula, though. Casino Royale is still the best though, but Quantum of Solace was still really good. I highly enjoyed Quantum of Solace, and would reccomend it to anyone who likes James Bond, or action movies in general.
