First Appearance: KINGDOM HEARTS II (2006)

The Lingering Will is a figure shrouded in mystery, appearing only when Sora enters a desert plain by using a portal in Disney Castle. It takes on the appearance of an armored soldier wielding a Keyblade and is exceptionally powerful, both physically and magically. It seems to have an extreme hatred towards Xehanort and have unknown ties to two people named Aqua and Ven.

When Sora, Donald and Goofy encounter the Lingering Will, it was provoked once it realizes that Sora was not the one it has 'chosen', and challenges him to a duel when it mistakes him for Xehanort. Although Sora, Donald and Goofy give it their all, they are unable to even make a dent in its armor. Right when it seems like their incoming defeat could only be accepted, the Lingering Will suddenly stops fighting, and returns to its familiar kneeling position as the sunset appears over the horizon. Sora may not have been the one he had chosen, but he wasn't Xehanort either. Could it be that the Lingering Will stopped because it sensed something more to him?
