Dr. Finkelstein

KINGDOM HEARTS

First Appearance: KINGDOM HEARTS (2002)
Origin: The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)
Japanese Voice Actor: Yūji Mitsuya
English Voice Actor: Jess Harnell

A brilliant scientist who's fully aware of the fact and isn't afraid to flaunt it, he prides himself on being exactly that; the most intelligent person in town. Beneath his rough and edgy exterior lies a kindhearted man, always willing to help when Jack has a new scheme up his sleeves, and being patient with Sally when she disobeys him time and time again.

During this time, the doctor is occupied in assisting Jack preparing for Halloween, attempting to get the Heartless to dance in unison instead of blindly attacking anything that opposes them. He creates a heart from scratch and believes incorporating it into the Heartless will make them obedient, yet despite the work, the heart regrettably is a failure. The initial plans for Halloween abandoned, and Dr. Finkelstein struggles to find an explanation for the experiment's letdown, as well as one for the heart itself.

KINGDOM HEARTS II

First Appearance: KINGDOM HEARTS (2002)
Origin: The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)
Japanese Voice Actor: Yūji Mitsuya
English Voice Actor: Jess Harnell

The good doctor is as uptight and as worrisome as any other genius of his caliber, though behind his scorning façade and quick temper he is a caring man whose hands have fabricated the likes of Sally the scarecrow and Lock, Shock and Barrel's would-be plaything, the experiment.

When Sora and co. make their first visit to Halloween Town they witness Dr. Finkelstein in the midst of making a strange contraption, which is Lock, Shock and Barrel's potential playmate. He quickly cancels the project after their lack of care breaks the parts to the experiment. While Sora and friends continue on with their adventuring, the doctor decides to take up the experiment once again in his own time. When Sora returns, the experiment comes to life and knocks the doctor out at which he assumes the experiment has been stolen by someone. Unbeknownst to him the experiment has been an overwhelming success, as he says, when he learns that the experiment wasn't stolen but in fact went off of its own accord in search of a heart.

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days

First Appearance: Kingdom Hearts (2002)
Origin: The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

Although Dr. Finkelstein is confined to a wheelchair and has to rely on assistants to help him with his work, this mad scientist is quite the genius. A simple prod of his brain will get him going and he will be able to whip up some new invention in a jiffy. Like all prodigies however, Dr. Finkelstein's greatest love is his work, which leaves no time for anything else and tends to become snappy when he is interrupted. Regardless, he will always lend a helping hand in Jack's Halloween schemes.
