Cheshire Cat

First Appearance: KINGDOM HEARTS (2002)
Origin: Alice in Wonderland (1951)

Constantly appearing and disappearing in thin air, the Cheshire Cat is a mysterious figure that always seems to lend a hand in odd ways. His purple fur and dark stripes allow him to stand out from the scenery, then again, when he appears as just a head he's sure to stand out! In Kingdom Hearts, this enigmatic feline aids Sora in the best way that he can, through riddles and mind games. Though Sora and his friends display their evident confusion, they soon catch on and begin to thank the Cheshire Cat for his help.

After fleeing from the Queen of Hearts's card soldiers in Re: Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, Sora, Donald, Goofy, and Alice run into the Cheshire Cat within the Lotus Forest. In this situation, Alice appears to be the only one who can identify this purple cat without any trouble. The Cheshire Cat skips introductions and explains to the foursome that they cannot run away forever. As Sora tries to place a counter argument, the Cheshire Cat claims that they are not safe until the Queen regains her memory. He continues to speak in riddles and mentions: "Try too hard to remember, and your memory might lie to you." As Sora and Alice try to pry more information from him, the Cheshire Cat claims that he cannot say more and that the rest is for them to figure out. Towards the end of this world, Sora and company find the meaning in the Cheshire Cat's words which eventually saves them in the end.
