Belle

First Appearance: KINGDOM HEARTS (2002)
Origin: Beauty and the Beast (1991)

Known for being a bookish beauty, Belle dreams of something more than she can ever imagine, and she finds just that when she enters the enchanted castle of the cursed Beast. When her father is taken prisoner, she bravely trades her freedom in exchange for his. Although distressed by the loss of everything she holds dear, the time Belle spends in the castle opens her eyes to the truth, and she is able to see past the Beast's monstrous form for the kindhearted man he is.

Belle accepts her new life with the Beast, even falling for him in the process, but when she discovers her father's life is at risk, she has no choice but to leave everything behind once more in order to save him.

Her departure from the castle does not go without consequences though. Upon discovering that she has found love in another, Gaston storms the castle with a horde of Heartless to kill the Beast, so that he can destroy any competition for Belle's affections. Refusing to allow her friends to be hurt, Belle returns to the castle just in time to save Beast from submitting to Gaston's fury. However, Beast falls to the wounds he receives from the battle and passes away before her very eyes.

Beast's death allows Belle to fully admit her love for him and lift the curse placed upon him. The curse's magic spreads out across the land, reviving the Beast and returning him to his human form, allowing Belle and the former Beast to live happily ever after together.
