Beautiful and intelligent with a love for books, Belle has the capacity to look beyond outside appearances and thus has fallen in love with the Beast despite his hideous exterior. The couple's love is pure and true, but this ultimately causes Belle to fall prey to Maleficent, who keeps her hostage in the Hollow Bastion castle. Belle sees through the sorceress's plans and thus acts coldly towards the Beast when he comes to rescue her, believing that denying her love would keep her heart out of Maleficent's reach. However, even she can't hide her true feelings when Maleficent attempts to steal Beast's heart, and she sacrifices herself instead. Her physical self is restored upon Maleficent's defeat, and she is finally free to walk into the Beast's arms. |
