Why doesn't Mickey remember Xehanort?

But people can still turn into heartless in the realm of light.either by being attacked by a heartless or by succumbing to the darkness in their own heart, as explained by Yen Sid and implied in countless other instances: "If one such as you, Donald, yields to the darkness in their heart, they too will become a heartless."
And as we know a nobody can be created through either way.
of course without any heartless avaible people are unable to lose their heart to those, but I don't see any reason why people should be unable to succumb to the darkness in their heart during the bbs-timeperiod. In fact, the xehanort reports imply that this is exactly what happened sometimes.

you're right. completely forgot that actual hearts are needed. well, that's that.

Would be pretty much impossible if heartless can't enter the realm of light at all. In the time of BBS heartless were completely unknown in the RoL, the Keyblade Graveyard (where MX summoned the neoshadows) is an in-between world.

As far as we know, nobodies only came into existence first due to Apprentice Xehanort and his experiments, before that nobodies didn't even exist.
Succumbing to darkness does not always mean becoming a heartless and also surely means not a nobody. Nobodies are, after all, beings between light and dark.

i'm telling you, Mickey is playing both angles. he knows that this can only end badly so he's going to try to kill everyone to somehow stop Xehanort and then he fails

Bumping this thread because Its my one and only complaint about the series so far. It just shows extreme stupidity on Mickey's part (if he was actually filled in by Yen Sid and was up to speed on things). A couple problems that I have:

1.) If it's true, Yen Sid not telling Mickey about MX. Why the hell would a master send his student off into the worlds without letting him know who the enemy was? Even if Mickey was never informed, I'm pretty sure Mickey could have at least saw or caught a glimpse of the man in BBS when he was lured into the Keyblade Graveyard by Vanitas and knocked out.

2.) Let's assume that Mickey knew who MX was and had seen him before... Don't you think he would have been a little surprised/shocked when he heard Ansem call AX by name? Look at Mickey's facial expression in the cutscene, he doesn't look troubled at all! I mean, I'm pretty damn sure Xehanort isn't that common of a name.

3.) In Reverse/Rebirth in CoM and Re: CoM, Mickey sees Ansem SoD face to face. Again, lets assume that he was familiar with MX again. Don't you think the fact that both XH and MX are dressed exactly the same should have been a red flag for Mickey?

3.) Not as important, but Donald and Goofy's arrival at Mysterious Tower in KH2 after being there 11 years before. (Donald: "Yen Sid lives here!?") Of course he does! You were here at this exact tower hanging out with him throughout BBS! This just made them look like idiots. They should have said something along the lines of, "I remember this place!"

1) Mickey knows Vanitas, for sure. He must know about MX with that. Liar.

2) Dont forget 10 years can equal memory loss or actual destruction of memory (see sora in CoM)

3) ASoD looks different from MX and Xemnas. Xemnas looks like terra. Xehanort looks like Terra. But could be written off as coincidence for Mickey.

4) Thats one of those insignificant plot holes; it could be that donald and goofy werent originally intended to show up at the tower at all in BBS.

Okay, that sort of makes sense... I guess. But if this is the case, and taking into consideration all of the stuff that went down at CO, it just seems stupid to me that Mickey would just "forget" who the true enemy was.

Ansem: "Xehanort, those thoughts are best forgotten"

Mickey: (Events of the past few years flash before his eyes... Meeting Aqua and Ven, helping them fight Vanitas in the Keyblade Graveyard)
"Xehanort... nope a'ha, don't ring a bell!"

It just doesn't make sense to me. How could he possibly forget something that important? Or if that wasn't the case and he never saw or heard of MX, why the kupoing kupo didn't Yen Sid fill him in?

don't forget that BBS took place during Mickey's Mark of Mastery Exam. He wasn't a keyblade master yet, maybe he wasn't allowed to know somethings.

If I am remembering correctly, Mickey never came face-to-face with Terra or Master Xehanort, so it really isn't all that surprising that he didn't recognize Xehanort when he saw him in Ansem's study. Also, I don't think he was actually present in BbS at any time that Xehanort's name was mentioned. Given that the concern after the incident at the Keyblade Graveyard was where Ven's heart was, it's doubtful that he was really told anything about Xehanort, or at least anything memorable to a king with bigger things on his mind.

As for Donald and Goofy, I remember reading something about Yen Sid's tower changing its form or something along those lines (although it remains the same in appearance), so that might have something to do with it if I am remembering correctly.

Was that in the Ultimania? It wasn't said in the game that it was his exam and I didn't remember reading it, but I may have missed it...

Yeah, please don't bump threads. If it's 3 months or older, it hasn't be posted in for a reason and the discussion has concluded. You're perfectly free to make a new thread though in that case if you would like to continue.

Mickey wasn't supposed to leave Mysterious Tower in the first place. He ran off on his own against Yen Sid's wishes, so he never considered the possibility that his pupil would run off in the middle of his exam and therefore there'd be no need to inform Mickey of something that doesn't concern him.

And it's possible that he may have seen Master Xehanort, but let's not jump to conclusions. Even if he did, it's been over a decade and he's been occupied with trying to prevent great dangers throughout the worlds. Forgive him if it completely slipped his mind since he's busy with more important things.

If there are as many worlds as there are stars, it's entirely possible. Maybe out there, there is a world where everyone is Xehanort.

Note the 10 year time difference.

That's an issue in making prequels. Certain things may slip in between the lines that you can't exactly fix with a convenient reason.
