It's probably because they live in the illusion that the guy is actually smart, funny, kind, i.e. everything they would like him to be. Or maybe they're stupid enough to think that, whatever. In general, it's all a bunch of hooplah - smart, funny, nice girls fall for the stupid, brutish, hormone-fueled men probably because they want to try to 'change those men's minds.' Just get a remote on a stick and wave it infront of him, or a beer can. Either one will have him galloping wherever you want him to go.
