I don't know of anyone who plays this series who doesn't know Sora means sky in Japanese.

Sora means sky, and the name was chosen because of the sky's relation to Riku and Kairi, a.k.a. land and sea. Sea separates land from sky, Kairi separates Riku from Sora. Interpret at will.
