Chapter 28
Duty
Even in the midst of the war, I knew it was my sole duty to remain to my country.
Geostygma meant nothing compared to the oath I took to protect the homeland.
Because I am a soldier.

"Reno, I got attacked last nite. And so did my squadron." Ren began, "These two people from Kubai, most likely."
"Really? Huh. Want us to keep an eye out?" Reno asked. Ren nodded. Then she blushed.
"If its not too much trouble..." She said, embarrassed. Reno smiled.
"Nah, it's all good. Heard Jett's gonna win the war anyway. I think you need to talk to Laz." He replied as a matter of factly. Ren nodded.

Continued from the last chapter:
"You sure its not where you left it Ren?" Laz asked through the speaker.
"It isn't. I already told you. Those two that imprisoned camp." She replied, leaning against her bike. She crossed her arms.
"Hm..." Laz trailed off. "Hey, you sent Cloud over here this morning, didn't ya?"
Ren smiled. "Yeah. Did he show?"
"Hai. He's with some of the new recruits on the battle field, teaching them some stuff." Laz replied. Ren grinned.
"Thats nice..." She trailed off.
"Ren, you feelin' ok?" He asked. Ren blushed.
"Yes...why?"
"Your voice sounds wierd....like a girl's."
Ren froze. She cleared her throat.
"Um, no everything is fine." Ren replied, trying to sound deeper. Laz laughed on the other line.
"Ok, sure Ren," He replied. She smiled warmly.
"Now get back to camp. Cloud needs help training the new recruits." He finalized. Ren nodded.
"Hai. Be there in....ten minutes." She responded. The other line cut off. Ren shut her phone and prepared her bike.

Laz clasped his phone shut. He sighed. There was something about Ren.....
Ha ha, he thought, lack of females on site are making you gay, bro!
He smacked his cheek, as if waking up, then walked out the tent to talk to Cloud.

"Yes master," A female said to the sky, "But she is strong. And so is the entire force with her."
"AND AND AND," A male's voice added from behind, "SHE CAN STILL WIELD THE GUNBLADE!"
A rumble in the sky came through. The vision clears, showing Kam and the black haired male. Kam smacked him.
"Shut up, Mar." She grumbled angrily. She turned back to the sky.
"The Kubai army is waiting for their One Winged Angel, master." She continued, smiling. The sky rumbled once more.
"Tell our forces to prepare themselves. We have one last battle." A man's voice reverberated through the empty space. Kam giggled menacingly. Mar rolled his eyes.
"You're just mad because master likes me better," She sing songed, sticking out her tongue. Mar mimicked her.
"Your lucky I can't hurt you because your my sister by 'blood'." He grumbled.
"Hit me if you can, jerkwad!" Kam threatened. Mar put his hand up. Kam did too-
BOOM! "ENOUGH YOU TWO! BACK TO THE LEADER'S QUARTERS TO TELL HIM MY ORDERS!" 'Master' shouted from the sky. The two flinched and ran to their motorcycles, driving away.

"Welcome to the Jette Army." Ren welcomed them.
She leaned back on the heal behind her a bit, arms behind her back.
"Names. From the right." She ordered, turning to her left.
Silence. She looked over to the right slowly, as if peering over her shoulder. The teenaged boy at the right end jumped.
"OH!" He face palmed, and composed himself. "Hiroshi Misora."
The one next to him, an exact copy of Hiroshi, stayed still as he spoke, "Kyoshi Misora."
Ren raised her brow. "Twins?"
They nodded. Ren moved on.
A short and stout man, clearly not a teen, grinned. "Takeshi Kora."
Beside him, an intellectual looking young man, taller than Ren, nodded. "Matsuda Kiatora."
On and on the names went, until Ren counted fourteen. One last soldier, short and thin, stood at the very end of the line. He wore a soldier's casual hat in olive green, blue-ish black short hair coming out from it. His face was completely eluded, darkened around the eyes, so that you could only see his monotone lips, pale as the only skin exposed around them. Ren stopped at him.
"Name, soldier?"
The soldier stayed still. Ren stepped forward, closer to him.
"Name." She ordered.
The soldier grinned slyly.
"Ko."
Ren backed up a bit.
"Ko....?"
The soldier grinned wider. "Just. Ko."
And he looked up at the slightly taller Ren, as if to challenge her, his iridescent, geostygma filled blue eyes wide.
"Welcome to the Jette Army." Ren welcomed them.
