You can post anytime.I actually kinda wanna post right away tbh. My last post felt underwhelming to me--especially since there was a long wait for it. I'll work on Kyle/Donn siblings post tomorrow and try to post it as well.
Take all the time you need, it’s important for you to heal right so hopefully you can avoid doing this again. Although glad to hear everything went alright.Update for you guys: Well, the surgery went well and it will take me about six weeks to be completely healed up.
The worst thing about this is that it's hard to sleep due to the air bubbles inside me. But as it turns out I just need to be sure to burp and pass gas to release some of it. My best friend for awhile.
Anyway I'm glad that both of your posts are up and that gives me the chance to figure my move ahead. Just remember that it will take some time!
Lol yeah it does make sense. I’m glad you’re doing alright. And great job with it! I’ll see about working on a response soonish, I just need to figure out what Jack and Hazel have planned. XDI'm back!!!
And I made my post the first thing to do since surgery! Now I figured I could continue on with Wells, but decided to keep on with Claire since it make senses with both of us in hospitals. xD
Spoiler ShowName: Cyrus Vanguard
Code Name: Artemis
Miracle/Average Citizen/Meta Human Criminal: Miracle
Personality: Cyrus would have to be considered the calmest of the three. He watches what’s going on, getting an idea of the scope of the situation before getting involved in it. All three of them have a level head, it’s just that Cy tends to use his the most. He’s very gentle, too. Even though he’s actually really strong, he has a delicate touch that belies that strength. Hands that can deliver bone breaking punches can also glide across the page, leaving long sweeps of light, graceful lines of ink in their wake. He’s an avid reader, and he’ll often quote snippets of literature if they seem to fit the mood, whether the lit is from an established author or one of his own writings. He comes off as pretty shy, but that’s not the truth; he’s just something of an introvert. When you can get him to talk, he’s actually got quite the sarcastic streak to him, his words frequently filled with a subtle snark meant to make people laugh instead of pierce armor. Having grown up with Juliet and James, he’s quite protective of them; even more so since Cy and Juliet started dating. He can get exasperated, especially when James decides to start pressing his buttons, and it gets kind of funny when Cy loses his cool. Despite the calm, easy going personality, there’s a haunted look in Cy’s eyes. It’s almost like he doesn’t trust himself when he’s on his own. He’s best when he’s with Juliet, and he does okay when it’s him and James, but Cyrus just seems lost when all alone, almost like he expects to wander down a dark road and be unable to find his way back.
Appearance: 6’3â€, Cy’s a study in deception and contradiction. He’s got a very light tan, just enough of one to brighten up the pale blue eyes that shine from behind a curtain of black hair that brushes against the nape of his neck. His face is lean and angular, a soft, shy smile frequently skating across his face. His fingers are long, thin, and graceful, frequently stained with blue, green, or purple ink from one of the pens in his pocket because he’s almost always scribbling away in the notebook he carries with him everywhere, whether he’s forming words on its pages or sketching a delicate drawing.
Cy’s usual attire is a grey tank top under a light, blue-grey sweater and a white windbreaker, both of which are just bulky enough to hide the fact that he has a surprisingly muscular build. He wears relaxed, black wash jeans and black boots. He also has a braided leather bracelet that Juliet gave him that he wears on his right wrist.
Costume: Again, do I have to describe it? XD
Bio: Legacy can be a funny thing to live up to, a fact that Cyrus knows far too well for his liking. What he's proud of is his mother's gently strength, her resilience and ability to care for her family even when things look impossibly bleak. He's proud of his father's intelligence, his creativity, and the position that Zane had held as the head of the Psychology Department of Arcville College. He was a brilliant man, a gifted teacher respected by colleague and student alike, Cyrus' greatest inspiration and role model when he was a little boy.
Was; had held. All past tense.
What Cyrus wanted to forget was the Darkness, how sick his father had been. Zane had been the head of the Psychology Department, but h'd also fought schizophrenia and clinical depression his entire life. He was fine as long as his medication worked, and Cyrus knew how hard his parents worked to hide his father's bad days from the boy. But he still saw the little signs; he saw the occasional shadow on Mom's face when her make-up wasn't quite right. He saw Dad's distance even when he laughed, how he'd be extra gentle with Cyrus and his mom even with the Darkness in his eyes; he heard Zane's mumbles about the Shadows, warnings about the immortal Carnivore and the Ghost. Dad fought as hard as he could because of Cyrus and his mom. It made it where the three of them could forget the Darkness when Zane was in the Light; they could forget that this sickness of the mind was genetic, that Zane's family was an anomaly where it passed from father to son.
But then Zane's Light started fading. He started having more bad days than good ones, making him miss work for a week or more at a time. There'd be days even that he didn't have the energy or presence of mind to leave his room, the auditory and visual hallucinations were so strong. Cy wasn't sure what he would have done if he hadn't met Juliet and James during this time. Actually, he's pretty sure the stress would have made him turn to that Darkness himself if it hadn't been for Juliet helping him to find his love of telling and writing stories. Cyrus would spend hours talking with her, giving new life to the same stories that his father used to tell him.
But then, before he turned ten, Cy's words stopped. They faded when Zane lost the fight with the Darkness. Cyrus heard the whispers, how tragic it was that such a bright, talented man would choose suicide over his wife and young son. They tried to be careful, the Whispers; it was a cruel thing they spoke of, after all, and it "Wasn't something that a child should hear so soon after losing his father."
Cy could understand, though. He'd only been nine when Zane died, but the boy could understand his father's fear. Zane had been himself when he died; it had been a good week, a time that had become a scarce, precious opportunity. None of the medicine was working anymore; whatever they tried, the Darkness still loomed, too powerful and all consuming to fight forever. Cy had understood that it was only going to get worse. And if a child could see that, it only made sense that a man as smart as Zane would be able to see it when his mind was clear. There weren't any good answers left, and Cy felt that made the choice that he felt was best for Cyrus and his mother. Cy was of that opinion when he was nine, and he still feels that way at nineteen, his own emerging battle just adding fuel to his beliefs.
Cy also believes that his mother was a huge part of why Zane was able to fight the Darkness as long as he did. God knows Juliet has been Cy's saving grace more than once. She gave him a safe haven during his father's final year, and she's continued be his rock since then. She encourages his writing as an outlet for the auditory hallucinations, to turn what he hears into stories so that perhaps putting the voices to paper can help him to understand his mind. She even makes him a homeopathic mix of herbs that works to help keep his head clear, because even though he trusts his doctors, he doesn't trust Western medicine, not after it failed his father so horribly. As long as Juliet's treatments work, he can believe that it's not that bad; he hears things sometimes, and his mood can take a major down turn, but Cy doesn't think it's not that bad. It's not the Darkness that Zane had to deal with; it's just a few Shadows.
Cy doesn't know when the space disappeared, when Juliet went from being a girl friend to being his girlfriend; as far as he cares, they've been together for a little over ten years, however you slice it. He loves his mother, he'll always love and be proud of the man his father had been, and he'll always have ink stains on his fingers and a cramp in his wrist because of his writing. But he needs Juliet, and he needs her safe.
He'd be lost without her.
Cy’s from the same story as Juliet and James, except he’s partnered with Artemis and the Oracle of Delphi for the lulz. His battle for control of his mental health is also a reference to how madness was connected with the moon in the old days. He keeps a small pouch of herbs secured inside a larger pack. The sachet contains a mixture of passion flower, skullcap, and saffron, a mix of herbs that he uses regularly in teas in both the mornings and evenings; the herbal mix is one that Juliet prepares just for Cyrus as a means to help balance and maintain his mental health. One final note is that he is obsessed with green ink pens; if he finds one with ink that’s a close match to Juliet’s eyes, he hoards whatever ones he can get his hands on.
One other thing is that Cyrus is the leader of a group that calls themselves The Hunters. They're all girls from the archery class that Cy and Juliet are a part of, and once again, it's a reference to Greek Mythology. The girls represent the maidens that devoted themselves to Artemis, and it's this group of girls that Cyrus is in particular quite protective over. The Hunters, with three exceptions, is comprised solely of girls, and each of the members have a silver bracelet with crescent moon charms to help the girls identify their sisters. Cyrus, as the leader, is naturally one of the only boys in the group, and Juliet is his second-in-command. The other two male members, in time, will be Tyler and Jack.
Voice Actor: Vic Mignogna as Edward Elric *yes, it's the same as above; they're a couple, I couldn't resist! XD*
Theme Song: Angel With a Shotgun by The Cab
Alt. Theme: So Far Gone by Thousand Foot Krutch
Battle Theme: Radioactive in the Dark by Imagine Dragons and Fall Out Boy
Power: Cy's abilities align closely with his chosen code name. He can manipulate moonlight for various attacks, use it for some defensive purposes, and has a small amount of healing ability when he basks in the moonlight. He has some gravity manipulation, again, a call to how the moon's gravity effects the tides, so his gravity powers are particularly useful against those with water based powers. He's highly protective of girls, and his archery, something he's always prided himself on, seems to have taken an upswing. A power that doesn't seem quite as related, however, is that he has a gift for prophecy. His stories tell the future; what he writes will happen. No one change it once it's been set to paper, not even Cyrus.
Weapon: If Juliet is the mage and James is the thief, then Cyrus is the warrior. He’s skilled in a variety of weapons, and he can use just about anything he can get his hands on. Like Juliet, he’s quite comfortable with a bow, and he’s also good in hand to hand. He also has a couple of pistols he’s good with. He has some magic tricks, most of which are centered around moonlight. About the only weapons he seems to shy away from are blades.
Spoiler ShowName: Oliver Fulmine
Miracle/Average Citizen/Meta Human Criminal: Average citizen
Personality: The first thing that you notice about Ollie is his smile and how happy he always seems. And he is, really; he's just a very happy little boy. It's true that his smile and happiness isn't always 100% true; but he doesn't want Diana to be upset, so he tries to hide when he feels bad. That's the second thing you're likely to notice about Ollie, is how much he cares for Diana. He protects her as much as any little boy can protect his adult sister, and he looks up to and respects her a great deal. Truth is, is that she's more like his mother than his sister at time. The third thing, and perhaps the strangest, is his intelligence. Ollie's very smart, and has a highly developed sense of people for his age. He can get a good feel for strangers, classmates, even how Diane, Tish, and Aqua are feeling. Finally, he loses sweets and broccoli, tolerates carrots, and believes quite firmly that the only thing brussel sprouts are good for is sling shot ammo.
Appearance: Ollie's a pretty typical little boy of his age group. He's 4'5", has dark black hair that likes to hang in his face if it's allowed to grow too long, and he has blue eyes just like his father's, with a slight trace of green near the pupil. His smile is a near constant feature of his; even the loss of his first tooth can't dampen it! He has a tiny scar in his eyebrow he got when he tripped while playing; however, it's so small that it's hard to see unless you know it's there. His features are still young, but it's hard to miss his sister in his eyes or in how deft his hands already are.
He likes blue and green, and this reflects in most of his clothes; Diana has to pick his clothes for him, or like many little boys, he'd wear the same green t-shirt and blue jean shorts into the ground. The best thing, though? He loves his sneakers; they're blue with white stripes, and coolest of all, they light up!
Bio: Ollie's been raised by Diana and her friends his entire life. And being raised by three 20-somethings has been a real trip, teaching Ollie independence and a certain amount of street smarts for a kid so young. He does get a babysitter occasionally, but that's during the rare times when all three of the girls are tied up with work or school.
Ollie's story is just starting, so there's no telling where he's going to end up.
Other: Ollie's not a huge player in the story. But since he does show up in some of the stuff with Diana, Tish, and Aqua, I thought I'd give a little more information on him. He's from the same story series as my other characters, but he's a little bit different than the rest of them. Where everyone else is host to a different god, Ollie is the reincarnation of the Greek hero Odysseus. He doesn't participate in a lot of the action there either because of his age, but he's able to figure out a lot more than he should be able to because of Odysseus' intelligence.
He's also got a strange relationship with thunderstorms. They scare him because of all the noise and the way that lightning is so blindingly bright when it strikes close by, but the sound of the rain is so pretty and relaxing. Also, Diana always comes to see him and makes sure that he's okay when the storm happens at night, and he likes it when she sings to him to help him feel better. So, he kinda likes them, because his sister sees him through the night...? Again, it's complicated.
