The film itself has been changed to represent dogmatic religions as a whole, rather than just the Catholic Church. The only thing the film can possibly do is encourage children to read the actual book, and to the Church I say tough shit, lmao. I'm sick of religious organizations complaining about one thing, but disregarding others. It's completely hypocritical, especially for Christian organizations. Not to mention, this group in particular is completely disregarding the audience's ability to think for themselves. They make it sound like the film will brainwash everyone, and that we've got no hope of deciding for ourselves if it's right or not.
Then again, at least they aren't physically attacking the producers and the author of the book, like other minority groups are resorting to.
I think, overall, you just have to judge for yourself how much, if at all, the film will influence you. Also, it's a film directed at a younger audience. Just about all the kids who see it won't have a damn clue about the anti-religion thing, they'd be more concerned about who has the better looking sword.
