And it turns out the ingredients listed in the process are chemicals: GBL (gamma-Butyrolactone), NaOH, sodium hydroxide or lye, and KOH (potassium Hydroxide). You also need pH testing papers which apparently can be "found eveywhere"

I'm just curious: Are these ingredients just fancy scientific names for what really are common household items? or have I read a lie?
