So yeah, yesterday was the first time I visited the official KH site.
Anyways, where it said age, when it said Sora and Kairi were 14, Riku is 15,Selphie and Tidus are 13 and Wakka is 15, I was surprised.

In my mind, Sora, Kairi, Riku, and Tidus were all 10-12. Selphie, was a year younger than them, and Wakka was 13.

This was in my head, not just by the way they looked, but the way they acted also.

If you think about it, they don't fit the ages they gave them.

So what are your thoughts on this?

I somewhat agree
sora and kairi don't exactly act 14
but I could imagine Riku as 15

Yeah, they don't really act/look like your typical teenager, especially Tidus, Selphie, and Wakka. Exploring a cave? Fighting with a jump rope? You mean you're not 10 years old? Seriously now. They could've given them older voices and made them look/act a little older than they looked in the game.

Sora did sound like he was still going (or about to go) through puberty.
Kairi was just...ugh. Just who laughs that much? Sure she's kinda flirty, but not all that 14. (Where'd her chest go?)
Riku on the other hand did seem more mature than the other two. More like the serious type of teen who's babysitting a bunch of little kids. Though the fighting with wooden swords thing was a little off for a guy his age.

Well,I did see Riku as the oldest, but I mean, his face and height and all just made him look so young.
And as stated, they do very kid-like things. So I'm glad you guys see the point I'm trying to make.

I actually never thought about their ages in that way, so it never bothered me, but yeah, I would give Sora and Kairi at least 12.

You have to remember that this game is Disney owned. If Sora and Co. acted like real teenagers then the game would have be rated

violence, suggestive themes, crude humor, minimal blood, simulated gambling, and/or infrequent use of strong language, and Disney wouldn't let that happen.

Well, not exactly, but they could act a little more mature.
That doesn't mean they'd have to swear, have any blood, gambling, or suggestive themes.
And Violence was in the rating.

sora is 14 in KH1 but he has the voice of a 10 year old

I'm sure Haily Joel whatshisname was older than ten when he voiced Sora:toungesmile:
And I think that they should have given Kairi bigger.. you knows..like, she's not eight.
And I think Sora has a female body shape. Heres a pic of the KH1 concept art: Lol

Riku went from looking like a 12 year old in KH1.

To an 18 year old in KH2.

It scares me. The transition.

I thought they looked just like their ages.
Infact, I thought Tidus was a lot older.

And you shouldn't expect them to act like "typical teens", because they grew up on an island and don't have the same things as us. It's totally different culture.

This is what I was more or so thinking.

I believe it had more to do with the average target audience?

I agree with the target audience statement, though they did step it up with KH2 not on a rating (until recently) but with a generally darker more mature attitude.

It attracted a wider audience; age group and gender wise. So I'm assuming this could be also a underlying factor also.

No one should say a word about KH2 having them portrayed as more mature. Riku thought about how he'd like to play with Sora in the snow in the Land of Dragons in the novels. They're just as childish in KH2 as they were before KH1 started, only far more scarred.

I personally think you're judging them wrongly. It's not even them being from another culture as much as them being portrayed to have the closest we'd ever see to a perfect childhood. Heck, they didn't even hint about them needing to go to school until KH2, and that made little sense as it did then :\
Sora grew up knowing nothing more than running around all day, play-fighting with his wooden swords, exploring with his friends, and drawing in their secret cave.
No one was really supposed to know about it, hence why Wakka and Tidus, being just as hyper active and curious, wanted to explore the Secret Place.
Being around a group of hyperactive, silly boys, the girls would obviously make a point of acting more mature, but when it comes down to it, Selphie's play-fighting and running around Tidus and Wakka, and Kairi's participating as much as she can in Sora and Riku's races and fights, and drew in the Secret Place once Sora let her in.

Them not smoking or thinking about sex all the time or getting into trouble doesn't make them "not act their age".
It just means that unlike 90% of their age group in real life, they have normal, sane childhoods.
