Lol, you didn't even ask what i would've named it
Legacy City is the name that was suggested on page two of this thread. It sort of just stuck, and is as old as the project itself. It was suggested on the same day the thread was created.
Im trying to think of opposites to Sora's story.
Instead of an island, a huge New York-like city. Destiny Island, Legacy City
Intead of a sword/blade, a Bow and Arrow.
Instead of 3 friends, 2 people who hate each other and a stranger
Themes:
Whether you Forget your past, or embrace it.
I like the story progressing like it progresses in The current series, as in it all leads into somethig else, and the Reading between the lines that were in the OP.
This is surprisingly similar to what is currently canon for the project.
- Linnea uses a bow and arrow during her drive form.
- Two people that hate each other is similar to the dynamic of the pair once they start out. They get on each other's nerves, and they're in twos.
- Forgetting your past is a major part of this story. The four all eventually let go of the painful memories of their homes, and decides to make a new home in Legacy City. Lucius never let go of his past, and it led to his downfall. The name of the city also connects to the concept of the past being a part of you.
Regardless of whether or not the four move on from Lucius' betrayal one thing will remain true, they're Lucius' legacy. Who they are, and the experiences they shared are a direct result of Lucius' actions. The city has four new protectors, because of Lucius.
About the Master, for our game (not the comic), his Master has little to no impact on our story imo. I suggest to first concentrate on the actual game before working on the comic or a sequel. I mean, the project is basically that the fans make a game, not a complete series so let's just complete this game and when that's completed, we can think of making a comic to put in the game or a sequel.
I mean, if we keep concentrating on that comic or a sequel, than this game won't ever be completed. Development is pretty tiresome and gets boring after a while and I don't really want people to get bored during development before even completing the actual game y'know.
Creating the universe is something for the concept team, and when the real development starts... well coming up with the comic and making hypothetical storylines is really all that the concept team can do. That's how real game development works. Or at least that's how developers should work. I'm looking at you, retcons.
Anyways, if Lucius is in shock, he won't be able to think of master plans to destroy Darkness. In fact, he won't even think about destroying Darkness.
Exactly. He won't be able to think about anything. He's in shock, and he needs something to snap him out of it.
The first thing he'll think about after recovering is saving others from Darkness. He has lost so many people to Darkness and couldn't save them, now it's time for him to actually save people from Darkness (by making the Bridges).
When he sees the Sacrifices fighting the Heartless, well, then he'll start thinking about destroying Darkness itself. This is were his insanity starts. He won't see people as people anymore but he'll see the Light inside that person that's getting corrupted by the same person's Darkness. Turning everyone into Sacrifices is the only way to truly save Light.
Him destroying some Heartless (and therefore helping the Sacrifices) could work too. I think Lucius holding the Primal Keyblade (which turned into its Light form) will make the Sacrifices not attack him. Lucius would sense that they're beings of pure Light and don't harm him. Because of that, he knows that Light isn't evil and always kind (little does he know it's because of his Keyblade that they don't attack him) while Heartless do attack him (if the Primal Keyblade was in its Dark form, the Heartless wouldn't attack him).
Before seeing the Sacrifices, he never knew that a being made out of just Light existed, therefore he never thought of actually turning everybody in Sacrifices, therefore, it's more logical to say that he'll first try to save everyone from Darkness.
To me, this is a more natural transformation instead of 'everyone's taken away from me because of Darkness... But I shall destroy Darkness by connecting many worlds to this world in order to summon Kingdom Hearts'.
The problem with that is that the the balance of story and character isn't there.
The story shouldn't decide what a character does, and the story shouldn't alter itself to fit a single character.
If Sacrifices are only outnumbered by Heartless so that Lucius can feel bad about them, then the story is altering itself to fit the character. The original concept of Sacrifices started out as them being tools of Lucius, but as the story drastically changed they instead became a representation of the danger of light. In order to do the Sacrifices justice, as they are, we need to be careful to not have them be too connected to Lucius.
The story is no longer about Lucius gathering light from fallen key bearers. It's about the conflict between two opposites. The Sacrifices are no longer connected to Lucius in the way they were when Orphan originally created them.
They went back to the original concept posted by people before Orphan, and simply became enemies born from light. Their existence is separate form Lucius now, and the story needs to recognize that.
Sacrifices being outnumber by Heartless just because it can add to Lucius' character is letting a single character alter the mechanics of the universe so an event can occur exclusively for them.
To me, this is a more natural transformation instead of 'everyone's taken away from me because of Darkness... But I shall destroy Darkness by connecting many worlds to this world in order to summon Kingdom Hearts'.
That's not really what I was saying.
I'm suggesting something like this.
- Lucius witnesses his master die due to darkness.
- Lucius learns his home is now destroyed.
- Lucius becomes believes the balance is being disrupted.
- Orpheus turns to darkness. Lucius tries to convince him to stay, but Orpheus realizes Lucius' has become paranoid from watching their master die.
- Lucius begins to wander the worlds.
- Time passes, and Lucius begins to train his apprentices.
- Lucius finally feels at peace again, but has a chance encounter with Orpheus once more.
- Lucius feels his paranoia rising once more, and is convinced Orpheus will soon attack.
- Orpheus notices Animus, and is curious why he is struggling in his training.
- Lucius sees that Animus uses darkness, and lets his paranoia get the best of him.
- Animus feels betrayed, and leaves.
- Events occur that cause Lucius' prediction to come true, and a battle takes place between him and Orpheus.
- Lucius alone survives the battles, and enters a state of shock.
- Lucius refuses to speak to Oswald, and locks himself away in what remains of his temple.
- Time passes, and Oswald befriends Lucius but the relationship is one-sided. Lucius does not recognize Oswald's existence, and remains silent.
- Lucius eventually decides it is time for him to leave his home forever. He journeys to the Realm In-Between and decides it would be best for his final moments to be where his master had taught him.
- Lucius notices the Sacrifices, and the Heartless battling each other.
- Lucius has flashbacks to his fight with Orpheus, and has a mental breakdown.
- A Heartless charges at Lucius, but a Sacrifices gets in the way and saves him. Lucius realizes that the Sacrifices obey him.
- Lucius fights for the first time in years, and destroys all of the Heartless in the battlefield.
- Lucius takes a moment to let it sink in, and realizes this what a world without darkness would be like.
- Lucius returns, and speaks to Oswald for the first time.
- Oswald is shocked by this, but is glad that he can finally have an actual conversation with his newfound friend.
- Lucius tells his story to Oswald, and asks Oswald to swear to keep his past a secret.
- Oswald agrees, and brings Lucius out of the destroyed temple to explain a city has begun to be constructed by the people from his world. Oswald mentions that it has almost been a year, and Lucius suggests that he should do something to commemorate the achievement.
- Lucius remains reclusive, and secretly begins to transform citizens into Sacrifices as the city grows.
- Time progresses, and Lucius realizes that his world of pure light cannot be obtained through his work alone. He looks to the legends, and begins to form his plan.
