"It's just the internet" is what adults attempted to shove down my throat from age 13 and up. Ironically they themselves weren't big internet users or if they were, they indeed hid it marvelously as the article suggests one might. They really try to demean any connections you make to people through the internet, and it's quite infuriating when you know quite well you have established a real bond with someone who is "from the internet".
