In order to level up, you need to go back to the Nexus and speak with the Maiden in Black. The thing about that though, lol, is that you're unable to do that until you defeat the boss of the first level: Phalanx

My character is now powerful enough to kill the Red Eye Knight in 1-1 with two hits with Soul Arrow.

Soul Arrow can be learned by any class. The royalty class just starts with it.

You know an easy way to take out that Red Eyes Knight is just to throw fire bombs at him. That's how I killed him my first run through of 1-1 as a Thief, it also helps having the thiefs ring seeing as you can reset almost every enemy and go in for a quick backstab and repeat. If you've got the Fatal Dagger it just makes your backstabbed do that much more damage as well.

I just actually fought him. Got a good enough shield to where I could block an attack, hit him twice, and repeat.

Of course, with my mage that won't work.

I feel like a dweeb for choosing Thief. My younger cousin came round, he's about 14 or something, and got him to play. As a temple knight he just lays waste to the enmies while I have to dodge and sneak around. I do like the high item drop rate though.

Thiefs can fuck shit up from the front too. Just gotta know what to do and how to parry.

Temple Knight has crappy speed and you still need to block/counter.
If anything, Thieves have maneuverability, which is vastly superior if you know how to use it.

Crushed the second boss with mah dodging and speed. Just grinding now as the dogs in the underpass keep mauling me.

Picked this up today, must say, the first level took me quite a while to figure out. That damn dragon kept roasting me alive :/.

Playing as a wanderer, don't necessarily know why. I figured you could have worse things than bad starting equipment.

So the first boss wasn't too much trouble for me, just lit my sword on fire and started swinging away. But, it took me awhile to get there. This game is pretty tough, and if you're not paying attention/rush yourself, you'll get massacred.

Still haven't gotten the whole parrying thing down yet, but I've been working on it.
