Three high school students and friends make an incredible discovery, leading to them developing uncanny superpowers beyond their understanding. As they learn to control their abilities, and initially use them to their advantage, their lives start to spin out of control, and their darker sides soon begin to take over.

To be honest, I'm interested. The trailer had me hooked. Yeah the whole "newfound superpowers leads to trouble thing" doesn't really bother me. As long as the story is executed nicely then that's all that matters.

Thing is, the video format is the one thing make this not extremely generic. The trailer makes it look like it is handling the plot pretty uniquely though.

So did anybody actually go and see this movie? Caught it a few hours ago and I actually genuinely enjoyed it. Found it to be a great look at hubris and the darker side of the superhero genre. It also offered a less romanticized look at the "awkward loner" (Andrew).

I actually agree that it barely fits the superhero genre, though you can definitely call Matthew a hero (and maybe Steve too, if he'd survived).

It's not a superhero movie. It's pretty much Akira with a few differences. But yeah it's been getting really strong reviews, and I can't wait to check it out when I have the time.

I was waiting for one of the comic book regulars to respond. Yeah, I think you'll love it. I'm normally not a fan of found footage films, but this movie pulled it off very well.

And I agree about the superhero genre thing, like I said earlier.
