The actual question for this post was supposed to look something like this:
Axel's death was one that was a bit anticlimatic for some fans and leaves this one wondering...should they have killed him off? It is true that he did have a 'heart' at times even tho he really didn't have one in the first place. However he seemed to be one of the older brother figure to Roxas during their time in the Organization. The plot sometimes can seem a tad linear and I still feel like he will make a comeback somehow. [seriously dont even make a comment about this. no one cares about how you think I'm retarded nor do I so dont bother]
I'm part of the party that feels like Axel has been waaaaay too overexposed at this point. To me Axel is just a character with decent enough character development and way too much exposure( and part of the "estrogen brigade bait," to quote TV tropes. I personally though that his somebody was a bit cuter but then I'll be going off topic...). So should they have killed him off? I'm pretty indifferent on that. He was going to fade away eventually. Nomura just expanded his screen time in KH2. He actually had plans for Axel to get killed off before Sora woke from his pod in KH2, but kept him onscreen longer because of fan popularity from CoM.
The only difference between Axel getting offed when he did, and Axel getting offed before Sora woke, was that we wouldn't see that tiny bit of humanity in Axel as he spoke to Sora ("Roxas...made me feel...like I had a heart. You....make me feel...the same way..."). We'd just see a nobody that was intriguing in CoM and downright obsessive over Roxas coming back to the Org in the beginning of KH2. And Nomura would have had to give Kairi a slightly different way to leave DI, seeing as Axel essentially chased her off of DI because she'd rather follow Pluto than go with him.
Will he make a comeback? Yeah, he will. That's only because he was one of the ones that said Sora's name in the BBS secret ending. How? Other than eventually becoming Lea again, I have no idea. XD
Also another point I wanted to bring to the table that this laptop is currently on is the background on the Organization itself. I would like to see a bit more on its origins of not only how it started but how its members came to be in the group.
From what we know of most of the somebodies of the Organization, we can put the pieces together already (which you may already know/have figured out):
-Numbers I-VI are nobodies of Ansem's apprentices. From experimenting with darkness, they lost their hearts. Thus, their nobodies were born. Eventually, they all found each other and must have had enough of their memories intact at that point to band together as a group. At that point, Organization XIII slowly came to be. Axel, Saix, Demyx, and Luxord were found sometime before KH1, and the novels talk about Larxene and Marluxia joining sometime during KH1. Now what I'd like to know is how numbers I-VI all managed to find each other in the RoD and stick together to form the group. Perhaps some of them became nobodies together? I don't know. I bet we're going to find out the answers to all of that in BBS v2.
On a smaller note, I'd also like the age presence of Zexion answered/confirmed. Evidence strongly suggests he fell to darkness when he was still a kid, given that Ienzo looks no older than 9 or 10 years old in BBS. I stand by the theory that he used his illusion powers to make him look older, but I'd still like to see how Ienzo reacted to losing his heart at such a young age. And the novels also suggest that Zexion genuinely can't stand Vexen (Axel's Seven Days story I think). That's really interesting to me, since Even was the caretaker of Ienzo. Maybe Even dragged Ienzo into the darkness against his own will, and Ienzo lost his heart because it was already filled with darkness from being exposed to what the other apprentices were doing? Who knows. Hopefully, this could also be answered in BBS v2.
