Chapter 15: A weird feeling…
Jess woke up to the sun shining in her face and the noise of seagulls flying. The smell of the ocean filled the room as she slowly sat up in the bed…
Wait…room…bed…
Jess jumped out of the bed and looked around. She was wearing a borrowed set of pajamas from Kairi…she was in …oh god.
Riku’s room.
Jess started to panic; did she sleep with…
But then she saw abandoned blankets and a pillow lying on the ground. Tension eased and she let a sigh of relief out. He slept on the floor. Now she felt a pang of guilt making him sleep on the floor. Jess felt her back ache just thinking about it.
She quickly got dressed and walked out of Riku’s room and searched the house for him. He was sitting in the living room watching TV with Sora and Kairi.
“Morning,” Riku smiled.
“Hello,” Jess said as she sat down next to Riku.
She glanced over to Sora and Kairi, who’s faces were so close, their noses touched each others. They kissed; and Jess couldn’t help but feel a little jealous. Shaking it off, she rested her head on Riku’s lap and he bent down and kissed her as well. Now she felt the jealousy drift away.
After eating some breakfast, the four of them left the main island and took their boats to the other island. The gummi ship was still parked on the beach, and Donald, Goofy, and the King were getting ready to leave.
Donald and Goofy ran up to Sora and hugged him, then went to Jess, Riku, and Kairi. The King walked up to Jess and she kneeled down to talk to him.
“Jess, there’s one more thing you should know,” the King said.
“What is it, Your Majesty?”
“Do you know why you had the powers to return Riku to his normal state? And why you had the powers to defeat Moritz?”
Jess shook her head. “I just…believed I could.”
The King smiled. “You see, every Princess of Heart has a special power. These powers contain great strengths. You, Jess, are the Princess of Light.”
“Does that mean there is a Princess of Darkness?” Jess asked.
“Nope, because remember the Princesses of Heart are pure hearted.” The King turned to Kairi. “You are the Princess of the Ocean.”
Kairi looked confused. “The Ocean?”
The King nodded. “To find out what that means, you’ll have to discover that on your own, just as Jess did.”
Kairi nodded and bent down to hug him. Jess hugged him as well, and they were all off back to Disney Castle.
~*~
Its been two weeks since the King, Donald, and Goofy left. Jess has returned home, but she and her friends travel back every weekend to stay over. The whole group has become so close to each other; hanging out every weekend helped make that possible. Everyone would swim and play Blitzball in the ocean, watch movies, listen to music, or just sitting on the beach watching the sunset. All of them started to sing together as Evan, Marissa, and Jess played the piano and guitar.
It was Friday morning when Jess and the others arrived at the islands. Sora, Riku, and Kairi waited on the docks for them as they walked out of their ship. Jess ran and jumped into Riku’s arms and they yet again became inseperable.
Jess told Sora and Riku that at her home world, a man was training her how to learn advanced magic. She snapped her fingers and opened her hand, and a small flame lit above her palm.
“How’d you do that?” Riku asked.
“I have no idea; I just did it,” Jess laughed.
Kairi asked Jess, Marissa, and April if they wanted to go shopping, leaving the guys to hang around on the islands. Sora and Riku talked about their journeys as Zeke and Evan listened and asked questions.
“So how many worlds have you seen, Sora?” Evan asked.
“So many I can’t even count,” Sora said. “I’ve seen some pretty amazing places and made so many nice people.” He touched his heart, closed his eyes, and smiled. “They’ll always be in my heart.”
“Wow. I wish I had an adventure like that,” Zeke said.
Kairi and Jess were returning with the other girls and they didn’t look too good.
“What’s wrong?” Riku asked, taking Jess’s hand and sitting her on his lap.
“Does anyone else feel something really weird?” Kairi asked.
“Like what?”
“Like…something horrible is about to happen, but you don’t know what?” Jess asked.
Sora and Riku thought for a moment.
“Actually, now that you mention it, I do feel something weird,” Sora said.
“I think I do too,” Riku said.
“I’ve got a really bad feeling about this…” Kairi said.
They all got up from the papou tree and started heading back to the ship.
“Jess, you’re not coming?” April asked.
“Nah, I’m gonna stay behind for a while. I’ll see you guys soon,” Jess said.
The four of them left and Sora, Kairi, Riku, and Jess went back down to the beach; Jess noticed something floating in the water.
“Hey, what’s that?” she said, pointing to the object.
Kairi ran to the ocean and picked up a bottle with a not on it. After a moment, she gasped and ran to Sora.
“What is it?”
“Look at the symbol,” Kairi said.
It had the King’s symbol on it.
Kairi handed the bottle to Sora, who opened it and took out the rolled up parchment inside it.
“Dear Sora, Riku, Kairi, and Jess,
The darkness, as you all know, is not gone completely. Things, though, are getting worse. I’m receiving letters from many worlds saying that heartless, nobodies, and an unknown force is attacking their worlds, creating chaos. Sora: You must go and help these worlds out. Who knows who this “new force” can actually be, and what they are threatening. Be careful and watch yourselves closely.
I’ll keep in touch.
King Mickey”
They all stood in silence.
“Things are getting even worse?” Kairi asked quietly.
“I don’t believe this,” murmured Sora.
“Well, it seems that there’s another new journey waiting for us,” Riku said.
Jess nodded slowly. What could be worse than what they all just went through?
“When should we leave?” she asked.
“Soon. Maybe sometime on Sunday. Tomorrow, we’ll tell everyone what’s going on and send word to the King that we’re on our way. We should also rest up before we leave,” Sora said.
They all agreed that in two days, their new journey would begin.

Sora was sitting on the paopu tree when Jess approached him. She sat down next to him in silence.
“What do you think it is? This new force?” she asked.
“I dunno; it’s definitely worse than Moritz. But whatever it is, we’ll stop it,” Sora said confidently.
“Yeah, I know we will,” Jess said.
They watched the waves silently and the sun started to set, showing some stars in the sky.
“Hey, Sora?”
“Hm?”
“Even though our journey was to destroy the darkness, and a lot of bad things happened along the way, I’m glad we went on it. I would have never met you, seen other worlds, or ever see my parents again. Thank you,” Jess said.
Sora turned and looked at Jess, who had tears swelling up in her eyes. He reached out and hugged her.
“I’m glad I met someone like you, Jess. You’re like my little sister,” he said.
Jess laughed. “Big brother…sounds suitable.”
Sora laughed. After a second of silence, a scream was heard from the main islands; it was Kairi’s.
“Kairi!!” Sora cried. He and Jess ran to the dock and raced their boat across the ocean. When they arrived in the main square, Kairi and Riku were fighting off heartless.
“They just came out of nowhere!” Riku yelled.
Sora and Jess got their weapons and started to attack. But it was no use; there were just too many. Then a loud bang filled the air and all fell silent. A giant heartless appeared; he was the size of a skyscraper and had red eyes. The heartless pounded his hands together and slowly opened them, creating a dark vortex that started to suck in everything. The four of them felt their feet lift off the ground, and they grabbed whatever they could to stay on the islands.
The powerful winds kept sucking, but they wouldn’t let go; they kept strong. Riku looked over to see Jess holding onto a light post with all her strength. Then a brick from a building became loose and it was aiming at Jess’s head.
“JESS!! LOOK OUT!!”
The brick slammed against Jess’s head, knocking her out. Her unconscience body let go of the light post and she was sent into the vortex. Riku couldn’t just let her go; he let go of the tree he was holding on to and was sucked into the vortex as well. Sora and Kairi watched in horror; they took each other’s hands and let go of the roof of a house they were hanging on to.
And all became dark and silent.
