Why everyone hate this game?

for my opinion, for a ds game it was great. i enjoyed the story like every other kh game. only problem was multiplayer.

Xion was the biggest cream filler for the KH Oreo Cookie and was nearly unneeded for any plot development to connect Roxas' Story from KH I to II.

All memories of her were wiped when she was 'absorbed' by Roxas anyway.

Nomura could've just had Evil Axel and Days would've still been the same, only better. The amount of room for going into more detail on the Organization itself would've been nearly infinite, but oh well. Could've been worse.

Because Nomura saw his own creation the Organization being too boring to center a game like that and added for a reason of his love of clones and trios, he added a new character: Xion. It wasn't my cup of tea but I wouldn't say it was horrible. Just very bad.

Short version to question: 358/2 Days was horribly executed. And Xion. But that technically goes hand in hand, and are one and the same, so yeah, 358/2 Days.

Honestly, if we're going for positives, the only parts of the game that I found redeeming were the graphics, the panel system, and the handful of genuinely new Heartless.

I've noticed a lot of Xion bashing. While she wasn't completely necessary to the game's plot, I personally found her one of the most interesting characters I've seen in any fictional piece. i think this would've worked well for even more organization development, but not muchchange was to her, only her in her hood, her face, and ventus on a rare occasion

First off, the missions were repetitive and annoying. Second off, I believe it would have been a much better game if there was no Xion in it.

To encapsulate, people spurn this game for:

Story Reasons:

1. Xion's very existence (for reasons I can now faintly empathize with, yet adamantly disagree with.)

2. Lack of focus on Organization XIII (Quite bluntly, I never gave a damn about anyone aside from Roxas, Axel, and Xemnas.) Thankfully, 358/2 Days gave me more insight to all three. To be candid, unlike 95% of Khinsider, I played this game for Xion.

3. Apparently, many believe Xion overshadows Roxas, and she is technically the game's "protagonist" and Roxas is reduced to a "side character."

4. Horrendous Pacing (one of the very few complaints I can actually agree with)

Gameplay Reasons:

1. Repetition. This is one of the gameplay's more detrimental flaws. The game rehashes the same format throughout duration of the game. Defeat -insert # of heartless-, perform pointless *** reconnaissance in which you investigate worthless things, collect emblems, slay a specified heartless...and I think that's all of them. Not much variety. It gets stale after...the first 3 hours or so. I quickly got over this, however.

2. Recycling of the same aesthetics from previous installments of other games. None of the worlds feel "fresh" aside from Neverland (at least for me.)

3. RULER OF THE SKY (**** THIS BOSS!!!!)

All in all, I love 358/2 Days. It was a worthy addition to the franchise in my honest opinion. Aside from the repetition...this game was not that different at all from its predecessors. The key difference being mission based progression and the panel system. I earnestly feel most of the resentment is almost unwarranted in a sense. Most of the relentless excoriation is not based on the gameplay itself, but the story. I am in the minority, but damn...I loved this game's story. It built up slow, but the conclusion was very satisfying. Hands down my favorite ending in the series thus far. Though...I sure Xion haters loved the ending for entirely different reasons.

I mean...I'll never understand how anyone can even remotely like KH2's story because it is absolutely executed terribly, but they can bash 358/2 Days incessantly. *shrugs* Guess you can't please everyone.

Well, at least I feel it was an investment of $29.99 well spent. :biggrin:Sucks for everyone who didn't like it. Really.

...That was sarcasm...right? I said it was my favorite. From a writer's standpoint, I would give that to Birth By Sleep.

I am being utterly serious. Other than "Blank Points", the ending was blatantly obvious for both Terra and Ventus. Aqua was the only one I was unable to discern. Turns out, my theory on her was technically still right. The ending was a close second for me, yet I adore truly tragic endings. 358/2 Days was just that. The only detractor was the fact...the ending (as of yet) has effected virtually nothing aside from Roxas' ability to Dual Wield. That is the only reason impeding me from calling it "the best", due its little affect on the overall franchise as of now. Birth By Sleep opened new doors. Days merely shut doors...for good.



Kingdom Hearts 1 ending affected me very little. All it did for me was scream: "Kingdom Hearts II is coming soon, bitch!" ...No real hook there other than hype for KH2.

People here don't like KH2's story either :/. Have you read the complaints? It goes with 358/2 Days as one of the disappointments of the series thus far. The only thing I liked about it was the introduction of Roxas and the continuation of Organization XIII.

That's why eBay, Amazon, or reselling it, works wonders. And that money returned would go to a game more worth the time.

Actually, no. I have not seen many of these complaints. In fact, I hear mostly the opposite. It irritates me, really. Well, as long as people admit that KH2's plot was complete and utter ****, I have no qualms with them reviling 358/2 Days story.

I never sell my games, even if I absolutely cannot stand them. Especially a Kingdom Hearts title...I could never entertain the thought.

Yes, those sights work...but you will not be seeing every cent of your money back unless someone desperate pays full price for a used game that is no where close to being rare. Yet...I still find that very common...>_>

I love Days I don't think it had all the problems people are actually saying it had. It's one of my favorite games for the DS hell I am still playing it now in the Multiplayer mode to play as the characters you don't really get to play. The Story helped explain more to the KH saga and give more depth to these characters and more little hints about some characters.

I agree with you 100% ...But you would be surprised by the number of people who say that it is "useless" and "not needed." I was shocked myself. 358/2 Days is just one of those games people love to hate. Thankfully, I enjoyed every second of it...except Ruler of the Sky, of course.

Then you need to explore more. It goes 50/50, but people do comment on KH2's lack of...quality. And even then, I believe 358/2 Days was worse, because while it did have some sort of story...if you count two-hundred days of doing nothing and all explodes in the very end as one, it was dealt with badly. Heavy wangst and crybabying isn't going to make up for what isn't there. Because that's all it was. Pulling sympathy cards on purpose so they can pity me into liking a cookie-cutter character doesn't work on my behalf, unfortunately. I look for more than that.

You can sell the poster or whatever extra came with the pre-order package to get the rest of the money back. Or more. People these days can buy anything if you know what to do.

Thankfully, BBS makes everything better after the storm.
