I still can't believe that of ALL places, Nomura does this at E3. You would easily think that he would save this for TGS, is the western fanbase that equal in size to the japanese fanbase?

Showing it at E3 didn't do any harm.
It was about time that they showed Versus XIII off to the world. That game had been silent for far too long and it was good they brought it back again.
As for KH III, they definitely announced it at a good time. TGS will be saved for 2.5 being announced. Announcing KHIII there would have taken away 2.5's thunder.

I find it also somewhat amusing that KH III seems to outstrip Versus(aka XV) in terms of hype despite KH being the inferior franchise.
It promotes the HD collections actually. Well, mostly promotes 1.5. With the reminder to preorder 1.5 at the end of the trailer, and 1.5 releasing in September, that tells fans that the final is coming and they should replay the games in HD. It is enough incentive for fans pre-order the game. And announcing KH III now doesn't take away the thunder of both HD collections?
Considering the fanbase, the majority will probably now talk about nothing but KH III.
When you think of KH3 as the first significant KH title to grace the series since 2006 (at least from the perspective of the average fan), it makes a bit more sense.I find it also somewhat amusing that KH III seems to outstrip Versus(aka XV) in terms of hype despite KH being the inferior franchise.
And you were expecting anything else? :/
People were hyped about KH3 when there wasn't any reason to. The end credits to KH3D was the first real reason to be excited for KH3. Yet people say we were "waiting for this since 2006."

What truly intrigues me is the idea of the real torture of waiting beginning just now.
Considering how the internet just exploded, I'd say it was beyond justifiable and that it was incredibly smart.
I'm pretty sure the PS4 is backwards compatible so...Ah, I must have missed that one. I cannot really watch the trailers undisturbed at work, lol.
Spinning it that way is actually a pretty smart move on Square's part to get more people to buy the HDs in order to get up to speed.
The only small souring issue being the HDs for PS3 and KH III for PS4, getting again into a console spread.

Keep in mind that it will be at least two years until KHIII.
Gaikai ?It's not.
It's not.
I'm fairly certain it'll be a lot longer than that.
