So, I've been thinking lately about all the parallels between KH and Versus XII. But I've also took into consideration the possible parallels between KH3 and FFXV, as in the completed game.
KH3 introduced a new concept to the series that was only hinted at before: different worldlines. But there's one other thing that the franchise has been building up ever since the first game, which is the passage of time which eventually evolved into time travel and other shenanigans.
All this time, it seems the consensus between this forum and some other places is that Shibuya is another world, and Yozora is some sort of parallel to Sora, kinda like his version of the hero. And Re:Mind even hinted at Nameless Star being "Stella", which would be a parallel to Kairi as well.
But what if the truth is much simpler than that?
I just could not get my mind out of the conversation between the two before their Boss fight, how skeptic Yozora seems to be. How he reacts to Sora's name, and then to his own name. How the place shifts from the final world to Sora's station of awakening and then finally Shibuya.
All this time, we've been thinking about the comparisons between KH3 and Versus, but Noctis actually lived after that game. We have FFXV. So what if the inspirations go further than we thought? Or more elements from VXII survived into FXV?
This next section is going to feature spoilers for FFXV, so be careful.

Spoiler ShowI barely played FFXV myself, but I did read up on it out of curiosity. I saw the ending of the game, and learned about the Lucis Caelum bloodline. About the villain of the game, and how the game plays with gods involving themselves in the fate of humanity, with the passage of time and with lineage. Then I thought about how this could relate to KH3, and it hit me.
What if all this time we have been thinking about a mirror world, where Shibuya is the equivalent of one of the worlds for KH and Sora is Yozora, when in reality we are dealing with time as well as space? What if actually Yozora is NOT meant to be the parallel world equivalent to Sora, but one of his descendants?
What if they are playing an Ardyn and his brother here with MoM and Sora?
I haven't really gone far enough into this logic yet, partly because my understanding of FFXV is pretty small, but mostly because I just wanted to write this out to hear everyone's thoughts about this.
What if instead of being a proper parallel world as in a whole new dimension, Shibuya is actually the future of another timeline where things went differently and the Keyblade Society had time to advance. In another thread about the meaning of Sora's crown necklace, people threw around the idea of Sora being meant to be a King in a more literal sense, a Prince of Heart and maybe eventually assuming a leading role in the Keyblade Society once he's restored.
Well, that might have actually happened in some way or form. This is why Yozora reacts that way to Sora's name, as he knows him. By legend. Because Sora did exist in that world, just.. a long time ago.
That may also be the reason people expeculate the MoM is Sora in some way. They may be right. The MoM may be a future version of Sora that went back in time and created a whole new timeline for some reason, and is a KH equivalent of Ardyn.
I don't know, just throwing the possibility out here. And I'd like to hear more thoughts on this, if this is somehow wild enough to be valid, or if I'm forgetting some important keyplots that invalid this whole thing. lol
Edit: I've just been reminded of this quote from UX which might give this a bit more credibility too:
MoM: … Anyway, so, when I was still but a boy, the Keyblade War began. Luxu: What!?? You mean, a Keyblade War happened in the past, too? MoM: …Yes, that's right. Luxu: So, did you have a Master, Master? MoM: Nope. Luxu: What was the war between? MoM: Light and Darkness, what else? Luxu: Light? Were there other Keyblade wielders besides you, Master? MoM: Hmm… technically there were, but I'm the only one who's relevant.
The way the MoM is quite vague to confirm Luxu's question of a Keyblade war happening in the past, as well as him not having a Master (Sora technically doesn't. He train under Yen Sid but that's later on, really. And in the timeline this version of him is originally from, maybe that didn't even get to happen).
The whole big about there being other Keyblade Masters but him being the only one who's relevant could be a nudge towards Sora ending up doing everything on his own in KH3, and all the other characters being linked to him in the end as well. And the part about the war being about Light and Darkness, well.. That's exactly what happens in 3.
