The Player isn't in a dream. The Unchained world is in the Unchained realm, where they relive a series of events from the real Daybreak Town up to a certain point, where they divulge from the original story and avoid the keyblade war.

Essentially, the world fell to darkness when the foretellers fought over dominance and kingdom hearts. Millions of wielders died in the war, and the resulting calamity caused a rift between the world, only partially restored by the light within children's hearts, which split the world into many worlds and made the light realm as it is known today.

Foreteller Ava is responsible for leading the dandelions, a group of confident wielders with hearts of light, into this unchained realm so that they can preserve the tradition of the keyblade and keep the light strong. The unchained realm replays these events so that the dandelions don't even realize what happened, since their memories were wiped, and right when shit went down their experiences shift and are not repeated in the unchained realm.

Your player, however, refused to go with the dandelions, as you feared for the safety of your fellow wielders. You fought in the oncoming battle, and after fending off every foreteller and watching every comrade you ever had die in the horrible battle ahead you laid on the ground and cried with your chirithy. However, before you died, you were picked up by Skuld and Ephemer, who rescued you from the battlefield despite the fact that they weren't supposed to take people from the actual war into the unchained realm.

Now, obviously they couldn't let you live with that knowledge, so you had your memory wiped and your friends are in on it. However, the imprint of the battle scarred your mind, and every night you wake up in sweats thinking about it, how it felt too real, how it had to be real somehow.

In Unchained, it's revealed that they're lying to the player about something huge, where his memory was erased. His chirithy keeps telling him that it didn't happen, but if you played/followed the original game, like I followed, then you know that they're lying through their teeth since it's canon. Essentially, the battles really did happen, and the experiences you reexperience in your dreams are recreations of what happened in the original game.

Most of that is not in unchained; you kind of have to piece the plot together from what we know of X, which is dead now.

Is the Unchained Realm the Realm of Sleep or are they two different things? Or could the Unchained Realm be inside the Realm of Sleep? It certainly seems like something along these lines given the origins on Dream Eaters.

Or is the Unchained Realm the same that Sora’s adventures take place in? I’m trying to get a grasp on this because my Chi-relates knowledge is lacking.

These Spirits could turn into Nightmares, consuming not just the bad memories but also the good ones. This could explain why Ventus does not recall these events during BBS. Perhaps, he and Lauriam are the only one who manage to escape the Unchained Realm.

But if you rely too much on it to eat all your bad dreams, it'll also eat all the good ones too eventually, as well as the person's hopes and desires. If they're using spirit dream eaters for the same thing...since dreams are connected to memory, it could eat memories too. The things I learn from watching the anime, How to Keep a Mummy..

The spread of the Nightmares seems to be heavily foreshadowed. We know from Sora’s experience in DDD that the nightmares can cause loss of identity. This would certainly be high stakes for the future conflict of Union X. The Dandelions may even lose their ability to wield Keyblades because of it.

The fact that the Spirits are making the Keyblade War fade from memory may also be why those in the “modern” era see it as happening ages and ages ago. When really it could have all occurred just a generation or two before Xehanort. Maybe the new leaders think it will be better for people to remember it as if it is legend rather than a historic event.

But someone... Luxu or one of his successors remains privy to the truth and eventually passes that knowledge to Eraqus and/or Xehanort.

Hi everyone, I've just started delving deeper into this X and Unchained X plot (watched all story videos and etc) and I'm really curious about how this story builds up until KH3 launches, so I'm like spending my Sunday reading this whole forum lol

So yeah, a question(s): Will Unchained X end before KH3 launches? Probably all of this will be important to KH3's story, right? Nope?
Or there isn't any confirmation around when it'll end?
