Re: The ORG
Chapter 21 - Frivilosity
Everyone’s attention was brought to Cinollex’s reaction. She was half-standing, a hand on the back of her chair as if she were about to push it up to the table and begin running away. To mend the confusion of those assembled though, she managed to hold herself back. Kurix picked up the mirror and held it away from Cinollex, trying to lure her into not freaking out.
“What’s, em, wrong?” He asked.
“Yeah.” Jynx added on. “You don’t recognize it, do you? Noraxeen and I just found it in Notre Dame a little while ago.”
Cinollex was silent for a little while, but she went back to her seat, looking slightly calmer.
“It looks…familiar.” She admitted.
“Just familiar? You had a fricking heart attack.” Xenjin said, leaning forward to see the thing that Kurix was holding.
“It is!” Cinollex pleaded. “I…it just felt weird seeing it. Some old memory. I don’t know.”
She seemed to be honest. Charxai stood and walked around the table, tugging the mirror from Kurix’s hands, but he would not let go. The view he was able to get allowed him to admire his own beaten face.
“Said you guys got it in Notre Dame. That mean anything to you, Cino?”
“Not really.” She said, after another pause.
Pretty much everyone assumed she was lying or delusional in some way. No matter what they thought, however, each Nobody decided it was best to ignore the issue and share what else had happened on their missions. It felt more relevant and surely this thing with Cinollex would resolve itself on its own if it even mattered in the long run.
“We ran into some trouble, too.” Charxai continued. “Lot of stuff went down here, some of the other Organization members breached our defenses, and made a mess, even though we knew they were coming.
“Is that what happened to this place? Looked like a bomb went off.” Kurix stated, rolling his eyes. “How many were there? Is everyone alright?”
“There was one, or uh, I’m not sure, I wasn’t here for all of it.” Charxai thought about this for a second. “But we ended up away from this place and that’s when Cino and I got together.”
“It was just us after Charxai left, we fought off one of them while Xoje took the other. I haven’t seen him since.” Jynx said.
“Just you two, fighting an enemy member alone…?”
Xenjin was just sitting there during the meeting, not saying much, but thinking plenty. All of her thoughts were related to how much she did not like Kurix and his methods. He was acting like he was the leader, and should have some say in every aspect of their lives. That definitely was not his job, and since he did not even rank among them she saw no reason they had to tell him anything.
“Well, Kurix, the guy we fought also got in our way before we found the mirror.” Noraxeen explained apprehensively. “He led us to this weird world-”
“Was it that ‘Unknown’ thing from the tracker?” Kurix asked.
“Um, yes, I think. That‘s what it said.”
“And you two just went there?” He added on, irritated.
Oh my god, Xenjin thought, okay ‘dad’ sorry for actually taking action and not being afraid to even leave the mansion. Okay, she felt like pissing him off just for the hell of it by this point.
“You know, Kurix. A few of us had some problems on our trip to Agrabah. Big, strong Organization XIII man came and started beating us up. Not a lot of fun, really. Pretty sure we were close to losing, and that was a three-on-one battle. The guy was just too big; had a sword bigger than this room pretty much and it messed us up.”
“’Us’?” He asked. Surprisingly verbose response. “Who else? Where’d they go?”
“Strong guy? Sword?” Cinollex asked herself. The questions came out as a whisper though, and went unheard.
“It was Xanele and Brixan and me.” Xenjin smirked sort of deviously. “We only got back a little while ago, to an empty mansion. We checked the tracker to see where everyone else had been, and when they saw the ‘Unknown’ thing, well…I guess it was too much to pass up.”
“So they…”
“Went there too, yup.”
It was difficult to describe the frustration Kurix was feeling. Fortunately no one really cared so it is pointless to even make that attempt.
“All…alright. We can still make this right. Xemnas wanted me to go on another mission today, so I’ll bring on of you with me. Xenjin?”
“Okay.” Son of a bitch, why.
“I want you to show me what happened in Agrabah.” He turned to Noraxeen, then Charxai. “She is going to bring you back to Notre Dame to check our where the mirror was found. I want you both to inspect the place very carefully.”
“Well, I thought we did…”
“Cinollex, you’re going to hold down the fort with Jynx. Don’t let him get into anymore trouble. You neither.”
“Sure, sure.”
With their orders given they all rose, prepared to leave for…worlds they had already been to. Xenjin was already ranting in her head about how pointless and silly it all was. What more were they going to learn? Kurix had so many stupid ideas, and this had the highest levels ever of frivolousness. Or frivilosity. One of those had to be a real word.
Kurix tapped Jynx on the shoulder as he started walking away.
“Don’t think you’re off the hook.” Kurix warned him, handing back to him the mirror as his rightful treasure. “When I get back from this little venture with Xenjin, we’re going to have a new file for Xemnas to read on your leaving.”
Jynx was mortified that his brotherly figure could possibly betray him like that, and act like such a parental dick. This did not seem fair after all who is this guy to be deciding these kinds of things he is not his father and it is just not fair and he has no power over him and oh god this is what a child would sound like.
~~~~~
There were four Nobodies after Kurix left with a reluctant Xenjin. One of them, Cinollex, looked between them, and held Noraxeen up when she opened a Corridor for her and Charxai.
“Yeah, no, we’re not doing what he said.”
“Oh, um.” Noraxeen was kind of frozen in place. The aura of leadership that Kurix carried was being challenged by the rank of Cinollex. “Why?”
“Because there are people who are better qualified to do the pointless things he wants.”
“Pointless?” Jynx wondered aloud.
“Yes.” Cinollex confirmed. “Now, we’re gonna keep these groups, but switch the missions around. Jynx and I are going out to Notre Dame instead, while you guys stay here. Kurix was so sensitive to ask if you were up for going out again, after all, Char.”
He shrugged but liked the acknowledgment.
“If anyone comes back, try to make sure they stay here. Maybe we can actually regroup instead of staying together for just five minutes.”
Everyone was okay with this and the rational leading being done. Cinollex and Jynx left for the world that everyone had the sneaking suspicious Cinollex knew more about than she let on which was the reason Kurix did not have her go there in the first place.
~~~~~
Completely aware of her failure as second in command (well no, she was a neophyte and was nowhere close to being considered that, but she liked to say she was, instead of that stupid quiet guy) Serox knew she had to take things into her own hands. She would have to scan the entire castle once more, but this was more important. If she found Dryxaim she could just take him down then and there, without any complaints. After all, everyone liked her better than the pink-eyed freak. Not like anyone would ask questions past her accusing him of mutiny.
“Mutiny,” they would ask, “I thought he just made a dog whistle?” Well yeah, but, you might spice up the story a tiny bit.
She went about her way, climbing one of them many stairways that extended outside of the castle. It was another silent night, though things were about to get a lot rowdier. His blood was going to stain the walls of whatever room they were going to be in together next. Even if he had her healing powers, which she did not expect him to have, she knew how to get around it. It involved a lot of dismemberment. A lot of fun dismemberment.
“Dude.”
Serox saw in the corner of her eye, someone coming up from behind her. She kept walking.
“Man, wait.”
No no no go away.
“Ser, man.”
“What?!”
“How’s it hanging?”
Sujnax was just insufferable in this mode. His eyes were soft and blue and his mood was mellow and lax. He was also irritating as hell and would not shut up to anyone he started having a conversation with.
“Fine. Just fine. I really have some business to get to-”
“Oh, man, me too, me too. So why the rush? Time’s not an object for us. We got forever to do things we never needed to do.”
“Yeah, well, maybe for those of us without motivation. I have an agenda, really. Priorities. All of that, yeah…” She increased her pace, looking straight forward.
“Which is why I was looking for ya, dude. I got some problems, see? Well, it’s like, a friend does. You know Kaxsra? I bet ya do. His weapon broke, man, and he needs a new one. He wanted me to go see Nevex…”
This was incredibly boring, making Serox incredibly bored.
“So, go pick this thing up for me. He won’t let me back in the lab, cause, ya know.”
They both knew.
“Yeah, man?”
“No, man. As I said, I have things to get to, which, for your information, pertains to finding Dryxaim, an egregious trait-”
“Dryx, dude? Nah, he’s gone. Left after the meeting for some mission-y business.”
Left? Oh, fantastic, the rogue is on the loose. She had no way of finding him now; no doubt the pipsqueak used a blind spot or smashed up the tracker. He was sneaky and she knew it but she was not going to give up. She could just check (what remained, she was sure) of the tracking systems, and maybe ask Nevex about any details he could dig up. At least she now had a legitimate reason to go see him oh damnit why was he standing in front of her.
Sujnax had this lazy, dumb kind of smile.
“Well, maybe if you’re ever in the area you could go see him.”
Insufferable.
“Ya know what?” She said, shaking her head. “Fine, I think I’ll have to go by him soon. I’ll ask him about it.”
That stupid, stupid smile widened.
“Thanks, dude. You’re really helping us out.” He said, taking a step forward and patting her on the shoulder. Then he let go, pushed the hair out of his eye and walked back from whence he came, humming to himself. All Serox could think was how annoying and pointless that whole episode was.
