So based on today's trailer Sora picking up Master Keeper on Destiny Islands is an actual canon event in the game. Do you think we will actually get to use it in gameplay? If so, what abilities will it grant Sora?

I think the key will guide him back to Castle Oblivion, of course this works for the Seekers if he gets to Ven first

Maybe you would gain Eraqus' Abilities and like Oathkeeper said it will probably help him get to Castle Oblivion.

That's interesting, if the key guides him. I theorised that Yen Sid would know the truth about the Keyblade and as a Master and friend to Eraqus he would be privy to the secret of the Land of Departure, but Ven's heart within Sora having a reaction to that Keyblade and guiding the boy to the castle would be beautiful.

If we can use the keyblade in combat I suspect one of its abilities will grant Sora the use of light chains.

You know I’m really hoping story-wise, there’s a point where Sora loses his fight against Xehanort. Because of this loss, all his friends fall to darkness and somehow he gets transported to Destiny Islands (Mickey’s transporting star, etc.) as a last ditch effort by his friends to save him before he falls to darkness. Here Sora would be at a crossroads where he will be at his lowest. He would be unsure of himself, angry that he couldn’t save his friends, maybe even he loses his powers... then he picks up the Master’s Defender and gains hope and confidence, slowly regaining his strength where he makes his way back to Xehanort and has a very gritty fight. I think that would make for really great dynamics. I love that idea of falling and rising, it would be a very interesting view on how Sora would handle this.

I feel Master Keeper is now Sora's as Aqua doesn't seem to be in possession of it anymore,
It's possible that before Aqua got norted she threw it or dropped it in the water and it traveled from the Dark Realm to Destiny Islands like how Kairi's message did the other way around in KH2.

I'd prefer this over the theory that it might lead him to CO. It would be fitting for Aqua to be realistic enough to realize that the darkness has a hold over her and the Master Keeper isn't safe enough with her anymore; I still want Aqua to keep that promise that she'll be with Ven when he wakes up so I don't really want Sora to go to CO and get Ven himself. I'd love for him to give Aqua the keyblade back when she's purified, she inherited it from her master and it belongs to her since she sacrificed her own for Terra.
