PSP Firmware 5.00 + PSN Store Launch

Don't know if this has been discussed in the Sony thread or not, but it deserves it's own thread.

TGS 08: Firmware 5.00 and PlayStation Store launch next week - PSP Fanboy

"The PLAYSTATION Network is coming to the PSP next week -- at least in Japan. Firmware 5.00 will be available on October 15th and will add the built-in PlayStation Store under the new XMB category.

Japan will then get a regular release of downloadable titles through the rest of the holiday season. Games include:
Yuusha no Kuze ni Namaikida or2 (10/16)
Bleach Soul Carnival (10/23)
Secret Agent Clank (11/20)
Patapon 2 (11/27)
LocoRoco 2 (12/4)
Resistance Retribution

Notice how every SCE first-party title is downloadable, including Resistance Retribution? It looks like Sony is finally ready to give up on UMD ... or at least give consumers a viable alternative."

Keep in mind this is all for Japan. Chances are we'll get 5.00 around the same time, but not the PSN Store right away.

Cool. Finally a new firmware for PSP. Ive been waiting.

I'm not complaining, though. PSN integration will be awesome.

It probably has to do with the significance of the update. This one is fairly important, since they're adding the Playstation Store (finally) to the PSP.

Or maybe they just pick a random number. Who knows?

Well, PSP games ARE exclusive to PSP.

I hope they put some more demos on there. There's not really a great selection on the PS3's PSN for PSP.

Custom firmware is for dicks.

This update is rather fancy. The PS Store on the PSP is hella faster than transferring from a PC. Plus, now I can set up a PSN account.
