While waiting for Kairy I decided to do a reference run down. First, unless it is mentioned in here everything comes from the Disneyland original Haunted Mansion.
So, we shall start at the outside of the mansion. Originally a raven was going to be a narrator, but it was decided to give the lines to the Ghost Host. The Imagineers decided to keep the animatronics in and the raven became a symbol for the ride. Our Raven, Marc, is named after the main concept deseigner, Marc Davis.
Everythings the same in the opening and the stretching room, but I cut the lines that refer to the Mansion as a ride.
Master Gracey: Yale Gracey was one of the head imagineers for the attraction. There is a Master Gracey tombstone outside so fans adopted the Gracey name as the head of the manor. This was carried over into the movie.
Madame Leota's Bride perdiction: Brides do not get along with the mansion. I'll expain in the ballroom.
The Dark Soldier's portrait is real. However it is a dark Knight that I decided to change.
The Sinister 11: The Orlando Mansion did not have the changing portraits, instead they had portriats whose eyes followed you everywhere.
okay, this ballroom scene takes place in the movie, with added features. Emily is the fan name given to the first attic bride. Melanie is the fan name given to the bride in the Phantom Manor (EuroDisney's HM). This HM takes place in an western town, and half of her lines are spoken in French. (these lines take place of Little Leota) all her other appearances she sings. Elizabeth is from the movie. Constance is the new attic bride who is a 'lover her or hate her' character. My gossipy wives give her backstory.
the singing portrait: Phantom Manor. Melanie has a portrait in the hallway.
THe Library is in Orlando's Haunted Mansion. And if you are wondering about the spell books, several non ghost stories are in the mansion. For some reason a book of medecine and a book of law are there too.
The griffons are a scrapped concept from the orginal. They couldn't get the effect to work.
The endless staircase is from the recent Orlando refurb.
Leota Toombs is
the actress for Madame Leota. Elanor Audrey provided the voice.
Leota Toombs was an imagineer who stepped in to make sure the recording
equipment worked. However her performance was so jaw dropping it was kept as the final piece.
However the imagineers were frustrated that they could not use her voice in the performance
so Little Leota was created at the end.
Leota talks because she does so in the movie. And I can not write poetry. (which is why the speaking spell is in Haiku)
The man dressed in green is a portrait in the hall of portraits in the mansion. Imagineers have confirmed that it is the only personification of the Ghost Host in the Mansion. Also, each portriat is hand painted so all have little different artistry in the mansion
The 'Seer of All' line and Larxene's response are taken from the movie.
The Enigmatic Soldier is the only ghost found in the ballroom that is not in the attraction.
The 'moving on' references is again from the movie, setting this a few months before.
The Melanie references: In Phantom Manor, Melanie and The Phantom appear in the ballroom. She sings as she watches the ghosts attend her wedding celebration while the Phantom watches her. However I couldn't work it in.
All Constance attic lines and bric a brac are from the new refurb. The hat boxes refer back to the Hatbox ghost, a ghost whose head was supposed to appear in a hatbox with every beat of the original brides heart. However the effect did not work as planned and he was taken out soon after.
The broken hearted bride in the corner is the original bride.
Leota floating is from the a minor refurb in California before the major overahaul a year or so ago. It is now in the Orlando mansion too.
the flashback runs through several of the deaths in the mansion. Elizabeth's death is from the movie, and foreshadow's Edward Gracey's movie hanging. Emily is the women over tightropres. Since apparently Yale Gracey can not be the hanging man for some reason, I had him eaten. And Emily is the broken hearted bride. Rest is fairly obvious. Except I just made Constance the suicide.
Elizabeth was murdered by poison when the spell was cast.
Graveyard is unchanged
For the hitch hiking ghosts... Ezra (the skeleton one) appears in Phantom Manor, as a railway man selling tickets to Thunder Mesa. That is why he is the transistion to the Phantom Manor part.
All points after this refer to Phantom Manor.
Instead of a graveyard scene, Phantom Manor uses a scene from Thunder Mesa which disappeared from the map after an earthquake. Thunder Mesa is pretty much how I've heard and seen it from Youtube and stuff.
The Phantom decays over the ride to his state in Thunder Mesa. (not necessary, just thought you would like to know) The Phantom's laugh is provided by Vincent Price in one of his last roles. He originally did the whole Ghost Host spiel but it had to be re recorded after France made Disney have at least half of their dialogue in French. The Imagineers managed to keep the laugh though...
The Phantom is one of at least 3 canon HM murderers. (The Ghost Host depends on your definition of murder. Same with the dueling ghosts and the executioner) Ramsley (murdered Elizabeth) and Constance make up the other two.
The Phantom follows you into the basement of the Phantom Manor house. (he takes place of the Hitch hiking ghosts mirror gag) however Melanie does something to allow your escape.
Melanie dies in the Wine Cellar (un known how) and her skeleton frozen in the wall points you the way out. (and in the story this frees her from the Phantom's curse)
and the "Hurry Back..." Lines are in every incarnation of the Mansion. Little Leota has HM (ride) Melanie has her first speaking lines after you exit the doombuggies and Madame Leota says it after the credits in the Movie.
Okay, that is my rundown, any other questions, post below!
